"I think we all need a group hug... or massacre, one of the two..."
... Why limit yourself to just one option; start the group hug, then fire a smartbomb when it gets crowded enough... :s

No need to elaborate Josephine . I'm sure a torpedo will do just as well if it's packed tightly enough . _______________________________________________________________________

If I bothered to hug anyone in this **** poor thread, it'd be to muffle the gunshots.
If it continues to survive without Polaris killing it, I guess I'll have to act out the generalistic stereotypical, childish (for a 32 year old) American people seem to be posting about.
I mean its like you want corporations to oblige each other like its sex or something. Pffft I would rather **** my enemy.- Rohann

Too many generalisations. As an ex-DAoC player on an English server (also including scandinavians and Dutch), I can tell you with some confidence that the Brits and other Euros do just as much flaming, confrontation and childish whining as any bunch of Yanks.
It's an age thing, I think, rather than a nationality thing. For some reason, the age profile of Eve players seems older on average than DAoC did. Thank God.

What? You hug the person, place the gun into their stomach and prepare for an insanely large dry cleaning bill. Most of it hush money for the dry cleaner...

I don't think anyone has said that to be honest with you mate. Although you may be going some way to proving a few of the comments made if you do feel that way.
Im my experience of this and other forums UK posters tend to look at things in a way that ony people from the UK can. This being with a slightly 'eccentric' (god I hate that word) view on things. Yeah there are a lot of generalisations made, but you will get that on a public forum.
Personally, however I have to agree in the main with them. I much prefer reading the stuff that the likes of the previously mentioned post than the 'yeah I'm great/u got pwned (whatever thats meant to mean)/u r an exploiter cobblers you tend to see on certain other areas. But I'm not sure if this is down to where you come from - its the poster.
It also helps if you are a Brit too as we probably are all a bit mad though

In my experience anytime someone uses the words "Best" and a geographical location to denote anything besides weather, beaches or drugs they're being an snotty little pita who's looking for a fight.
Get over yourself. The one thing we all have in common is we all have *******s. Nobody has an exclusive on that one.

Hmmmm.....I've never really thought about where anyone was from. I'm from the UK, but to be honest apart from a few spelling differences and cultural references I would be hard pressed to tell UK and US posters apart.
Of course I can often tell when someone posts whose first language is not English, but again, it's not so much the quality of the post that lets me know but usually a slight eccentricity in use of grammar.
People, wit and intelligence are not commodities restricted to any particular nationality, just as a lack of either can be found just about anywhere in the world. Yes there are some obnoxious people on these forums and there are some genuinely funny people posting here too. I couldn't care where they're from in either case and certainly wouldn't tar everyone with the same nationality as....Tank CEO for instance...with the same brush. He's obnoxious because he's obnoxious, not because of where he lives.
Why is it that when someone tells you that there are over a billion stars in the universe, you believe them, but if they tell you there is wet paint somewhere, you have to touch it to make sure? |

Quote: Hmmm, I assumed this thread was about ore or something so I hadn't read it until now...
This is a general observation, not about what gets posted on these forums specifically, I think more frequently than from another country, a US person will say something along the lines of 'I come from the land of the free' or whatever. Followed by a bit of flag waving. Then someone will say something like 'actually I like where I come from too' to which the US person will respond 'OMG you just attacked me and my country - you've got a problem with the US because you're jealous, blah-de-blah-de-blah'. In general these boards are fairly free of this, but I think the main reason is a difference of culture. It's much more normal in the States for people to flag wave, I mean they even pray to it every morning when in school or something. Over on the other side of the world you get a lot less of that, in fact quite the opposite. As a result I don't think either side really understands why the other gets worked up over these things.
Why do euro people post more sensible posts in general? I think the answer lies in the lower willingness to complain and immediately go into confrontation mode, as others have said. This is good and bad in a way, and of course each side of the Atlantic has their own set of whingers and non-whingers.
LOl pray to the flag..I almost choked Athule thanks. I'm going to say this and I'm sure that one of my fellow Americans is going to jump down my back but I think as a whole the UK players tend to post more amusing and light hearted threads. Where as most (not all) Americans post are of the how do I or can you believe I can do this variety. Now I have read posts where people on both side of the Atlantic have made snide remarks about RL politics and history and those people suck.

Probably thought that the "best posters are English" statement was a foregone conclusion, rather than a highly dubious opinion.
BTW guys, I did not pledge allegence to the US flag in school past the third grade. I have not said the pledge since then. If you judge all Americans by our flag-waving President, you're making a huge mistake. America is very diverse ethnically, and culturally. Generalizations are doomed to fail. Your 150mm Railgun II perfectly strikes Serpentis Drug Baron, wrecking for 192.8 damage. |
