lets take it back to a point based system, no chance based bull****, the thought that a 1 month old player in a frig even has a chance at jamming a 3 year old player in a battleship is beyond me and makes me wonder why CCP has a chance based system, make it cut and dry, you got more point than their sensor strength, they are jammed, end of story, you fail to have enough points, you don't jam

I seem to remember that the chance based system was added in because of the problems asscociated with the old points based systems. Namely a guarenteed effect, with no chance of escape for the affected. At least now there is a theoritical probability that as a victim you may have a chance to escape the effects of ECM.

In theory yes. In reality however, the chance-based system is utter crap and overpowered to the point where it's breaking PvP.

The title is correct. But the reasoning is BS. Nothing wrong with a 1 month alt character being able to ward off a 3 year old one. Everything wrong with one module totally disabling one entire ship against any and all opponents. --------- ZOMG my sig was concordokkened! Link removed due to bad language on remote site. -wystler

well people moaned that EW was only for Scorp, Blackbird, Dominix and Raven.
But I kinda liked the system, my 2 damp Tempest was my baby and unbeatable in long range combat. my Scorpion an excellent solo pirating ship able to escape and win nearly all 1vs1 fights.
I think the biggest complains came from miners and npc hunters, since a single scorp could go havok against 2-3 BS easily. You did pity damage, but once you cought someone in a belt, he was dead.
But again, the whole system needed lots of player skills, podjamming wasnt always easy and you need to know the sensor strength and possible layouts of enemies.
Setups like 1x caldari 4x multi 2x mwd 1x scambler were quite common

Fit ECCMs and stop the god damn whining already...
And dont tell me it doesnt work jaddajadda, cause it does.
Other than that, why didnt you post in one of the 10000000 already existing threads? It's not really needed to make a new thread every single time someone gets killed by a Ship that had a Multispec fitted...

Once thing that ive learned from all these ecm/eccm discussions is that some ships actually need that multispectral to have a chance of winning. For example, the extra medium slots on minmatar battleships is best used with multispectrals since the ships doesnt have the damage of gallente ships and have a hard time winning without jamming it seems.

I would like to see some restrictions on what ships can use ECM modules, or maybe just have it so that if its fitted on a non-ECM ship the strenght is reduced by 90% or something. Its kinda absurd when an interceptor can web, warp scramble and target jam you.

Let`s see...
We gonna get WCS nerf... They are looking at making BM`s useless... EW gonna get worked over again... maybe to something worse, who knows.
If this **** keep going we are looking at the start of the end of this game.

Ok easy way to answer this yourself, would you prefer to be guaranteed out the game or...... a chance of coming back? The old style of jamming just dropped you out the game for good until you died or mates came to bail you out. At least this way you have a chance to jam above your belt or to avoid jam if you are lucky. In the same vain scrambling could be fun the same way the moaning BS pilots in this would benifit from a higher chance of escape rather than if your scrammed you're doomed. What would be nice is the ones who think the current climate is unbalanced come up with a better way that everyone is happy with.
With everything in Eve there is a way round all types of attack and you just have to be creative and not just stick to the norm.
But hey if you wanna moan carry on. If you stop there is always another. -----------------------------

I very much prefers dampeners since you can fit a sensor booster to counter it. And for close ranged combat ships with MWD, it will be easy to get in range to fight. Big difference to being completely shut down and unable to do anything at any range.

2 dampners vs 2 sensor boosters, do the maths still screws you over ( I have no issues on this) ECM do not completely shut you down what would shut you down is the old ways of ECM which you have no way of getting out of unless you have backups to begin with and then you would not be jammed. I know why I dont post often on here, its because its a place for the irrational to flaunt thier twisted mind sets and try and sway the Devs to change something they dont like. Backups, your own ecm back and cunning are the ways to counter your issues. Live learn and progress!!!

Its called feedback. Alot of times the devs dont experience the game the same way as the players do. If you feel you dont agree with most of the posters here, I suggest you start standing up for yourself and use logic/facts to counter any errors you may encounter.
If you prefer devs that doesnt listen to the players, check out WoW.

I have no need to stand up for myself, Eve in general is a top game and I have no need to ask for changes.... I am no famboi and see areas that require some change but they have been explored and nothing done to resolve.
ECM atm is an area I have started to explore again, I have faught against it for long time using ships without, mixed results but always used cunning and exisiting ways to overcome. I see it having no real big issues, you come with a decent ECM fitted ship and you will have an advantage, if both sides have one then thats where the interesting fights start. In the Eve community its all too easy to look at things blinkered but with thought a little imagination you can take out fleets, gangs and solo ships to combat most situations. I think the real issue here is that many base a ship on its DPS rather than anythign else.
I am shutting up now, only end up ranting and sounding a ****, and Jim was no attack directly on you with my post before just carried on more.

Close range combat ship will be long dead before it can finish locking anything. Let's see. Thorax with a sensor booster 2, maxed signature analysis and long range targeting skills can be damped to under 8km max targeting range with a 50-60 second lock time on Cruiser sized targets. I personaly don't see a slight bit of difference between that and being jammed. In both cases you'll be dead long before you can do squat against your attacker(s).
I'll be strait with you. I'm a EW pilot myself and I find the current system abit goofy. The current chance system screws me over often as well. If I put 17+ jam strength on a ship with 16 sensor strength it should never be able to target anything long as my jammers are active. From what I understand that was the old system and it was just as unpopular? Also, it's just not right that after the skillpoints I poured into the skills effecting ECM mods I'm only slightly more effective in the role than a 1 month old with only "electronic warfare" trained to level 1. There really needs to be a wider gap between those two extremes.
PS: takes too long for me to write posts
