I only remember one worse screw up than losing all the overview settings for EVERYONE. Think Boot.ini, and I am betting this was done by the same person. or
So very unimpressed!
You give us a solution but how is that supposed to help those of us who lost it all because we logged in to do our invents and builds on all our characters, then logged off to go to work, get home to go pew pew, and find all our settings for our overviews GONE!
This share overview "feature" is one that you really could have left in the dust by the side of the road, because this "feature" sucks!
Not gonna fix it till the 27th? Guess I will be supporting a different game when my accounts lapse.
And no you can't have my stuff because I will be destroying it! You want an isk sink? Wave goodbye to that 750 bill to 1 trill or whatever I have.

Well could be worse, it could be new boot.ini all over again.
Edit: since I haven't patched the game I better wait for few days or maybe weeks, moths to get this fixed ? |

What does "Share Overview" actually share?
Does it share all the tabs and general settings or just the specific tab that you are on at the time?
I have 5 tabs on my overview and 7 tab profiles (some for special events). i don't like how these extra 2 tabs are in a separate section as i forget to select them. This should be kept the same as before.

I saw the initial reports about some having lost overview settings so was happy when i logged in yesterday and found all mine still there. However, on getting up and looking in here this morning i now see the critical issues announcement.
Criticial Issues??? how about naming it correctly and calling it 'A Monumental Fck Up'??
Any changes/updates/additions that yesterdays patch/expansion/upgrade gave to the game are completely negated by this screw up.

So, CCPGÇÖs awesome new 6-week deployment schedule is working exactly as feared......
The rush to get crap deployed within tight timescales means that stuff isnGÇÖt checked properly (even worse than before if that is even possible), and when bugs are found, there is no time to fix them before the next bunch of sh!t hits TQ.
We are still waiting for the tooltip fiasco to be sorted. It was promised weeks ago, and in reality will never happen.
So get used to more bugs, more GÇ£workaroundsGÇ¥ and generally EVE being more sh!t than ever.

Overview settings are not the end of the world, get over it people. It's one issue to do with transitioning from an old db system to a new db system basically. Once you are transitioned things are all good again. And thanks to sharing it's vastly easier to pass out overviews to other people to help them sort it again.
It's a good step forward, yes it sucks it had an issue in it's roll out. But I'm sure you all personally went to sisi and tested overview settings right...... And bug reported this on sisi...... Hmmm, what's that. you didn't? Don't complain CCP didn't catch it when apparently not a single player on Sisi caught it either. |

Your reasoning is as flawed as it gets. I pay to play EVE, a functioning game. I do not pay to do testing, integration and verification for CCP, thank you very much. You seem to think not paying to do work is somehow invalidating people's irritation with a bug-filled release? I think you have become to accustomed to the new culture of "release alpha game, cash in, go away" that have cropped up.
And yes, the new overview system sharing will be awesome when it works, but right now it is a pile of steaming manure. |

No its not, its CCP failing to do adequate testing on a patch before releasing for the umpteenth time. |

I'm not paying CCP to test changes on TQ, SiSi is for that. Yes, the bug was reported on SiSi but no one cared as they were fondling with -10 speed and +10 hull changes for too long.
Quoting myself to get some exposure for this, might be a tad late now:
Adrie Atticus wrote:
Worked out a solution for myself on the overview ****-up:
This works only if you have Shadow Volume enabled in Windows7/Vista
1. Browse to 'c:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\CCP\EVE\i_program_files_ccp_eve_tranquility\settings' where "i__program_files..." is your installation location.
2. Right-click on the folder 'Settings' and select Properties -> Previous versions
3. Locate a version which is before you updated your client and open it
4. Drag all "core_char_xxxxxxxx.dat" from the newly opened folder to the previously opened folder and overwrite the file.
5. Launch the game, you should have old overview back up and running, but it will reset on every session change.
6. Export the overview once you're in space (all of the settings and everything) and it should now work like a charm. Note that you also need to tick all of the "Other tab presets" in the folder at the bottom of the list.
7. Now import the overview you just exported.
8. Restart the game, you should now have your old overview back.
Tested on Windows 7 Pro 64-bit SP1

Successful you say???
CCP Falcon wrote:Known issues- The Serpentis Lookout sentry towers have incorrect specular reflection.
- The default names in the Overview sharing system is incorrectly labeled as [character]charID.genitiveName} Overvie instead of the correct label PILOTNAMEGÇÿs overview.
- Some Burner NPCs have incorrect graphics for their turrets and launchers.
- Burner Missions use the same dynamic reward system as all missions, which means their payouts will be lower than expected for several days as they adjust.
- Any custom Overview settings are being erased after logging off from your first session after patching unless a change was made to the overview settings during that session. Please make sure that you open your overview settings and change at least one setting before logging off. We also recommend that you export your overview settings so that you can restore them in the event that they are erased.
- Exporting overview settings or sharing overview settings is broken in some cases. This is related to background colors settings. Current workaround is to reset your overview background color setup.
- In some cases the screen stays black after selecting a character. Workaround: Clear your setting files, they might be corrupted. Instructions for clearing the cache can be found here.
If this is success, I would hate to see failure on your part . . . BTW we hate the new overview system as switching overview profiles on the fly is no longer that. At least this patch we didn't lose any skills.
NOW before the TROLLS jump my sh!t and tell me how hard it is to do what they do, SAVE IT. I pay to play this game and while I don't expect perfection, I don't expect major f-ups either. If this was a F2P game then I would say have at it with crap like this, but until that day WE PAY for minimal hiccups.

Dude, seriously . . . do you leave station? If so, then you would know overview settings matter, so don't write them off as some minor inconvenience.

We're not paid to test their game for them, we PAY them to. The test server is for us to "test" things (i.e.- fits, boosts, PvP practice, etc.) and provide a little feedback along the way, not for us to scour every bit of the game to find/report issues.

You can't change which sub-overview you are editing when docked. I find this very annoying. Especially when you just wiped my overview entirely (so much for logging on after DT, and off again, before the pop up solution appeared in game.)

This is one of thr advantages of being an American with kids and a job. I rarely log in on patch days as i just assume the downtime will be so long I have to go to work before it's over.
