open people and places go to places and click the bookmark button at the bottom. well done you just bookmarked a piece of space - not a roid not nor a belt not a container specially placed at a belt called 'warp point' like i have been doing for ages.
doh!
You can also do that from inside a station to bookmark that station.

A quick one I just learned:
Finding your drones
If you have some drones out you can click into the Drones panel to make it active and then just hover your cursor over any of the drones. After about a second the camera drone will change focus away from your ship and track the drone your cursor is hovering over in the Drones panel.
Can be useful if you want to know where a given drone is, especially if it isn't obeying your commands.

This works as well for targeted items, including cans and hostile players/npc's. If you hold the mouse cursor over the target icon the focus will move to follow that item.

Should of posted this here in the first place.
When you have gotten used to the game, and have decided what you want to eb when you grow up you might decide that its time to pick a corp.
Most new players don't know that there is a channel devoted to this - click on the icon that looks like two people, then Join Recruitment, and you will find at least 30 corps looking for people like you, no matter what level or goal.
NOTE: The Recruitment Channel is not responsable for any spam or bad humour found within

Quote: Handy but not obvious:
You can stop training a skill and train another without losing the progress gained in the first skill. Do NOT abort. Simply go to the skill you want to train and start training it and click 'okay' when the warning comes up. This is handy if you want to train 3 skills to level one; buy each one, starting training each in turn, then you've 'installed' them and can leave the station and train them while you're mining/hunting/whatever.
This no longer WORKS, for me atleast.just lost a nice 5 days on a level 5 skill because of it.its been a while since i last trained a skill while another was training, well i tried it today and got shafted.Again, i did not abort, i simply trained Minmatar battleship while a lvl5 skill was training.

Oh it still works fine, next time you go back to train the skill you cancelled, it will pick up the training time from where it left off. Blame It On EVE.. she was the cause of all man's problem's.

Here's one I just learned... I do this as a habit in hostile space now.
When you are warping to a gate, create a bookmark in mid warp. Keep your bookmarks open. If you get to the gate and are confronted by baddies, warp to the bookmark in the middle of space. It makes you very hard to chase. Once I make a clean jump, I just delete the bookmark to keep things clean. I also created folders to keep my permanent bookmarks in so the main window always contains my temporary ones. Remember to take off autopilot when approaching the gate so that you can just hover the mouse over "warp to location".
Have fun!

One more bookmark tip:
To share bookmarks, move them to your hangar (just drag them from the Bookmark list), then shift-drag them to an empty spot to copy. Drag your own bookmark back to the list, and you can now give the copy to your corpmates so you can all go hunting in that hidden station :-).

A good way to keep track of how old your cans are is to rename them. If I eject a can at 16:20 GMT, I rename the can to "New at 1620" so who ever is indying for me (if I'm not doing it myself) knows which can is oldest. After about 2 hours, a can deteriorates.

We have close to 20 anchored cans, we name them the person who anchored them and a - 1 or - 2 telling how many they have out there.
Helps me hauling too, so I can just tell someone to take Ken - 1 and Ken - 2 cans they are full of ore.
It also tells us how many more cans a person can anchor or if they reached their limit. _______________________ CEO of Enron Corporation Enron Corporation (15 members of friends) |

Another way to zoom... Press the right mouse button, and move your mouse so you're looking away from your ship.
Still holding your right button, also press the left button. Move the mouse up to zoom in, down to zoom out.

thanks for all the info, I have found it really useful.
Also I have found that using shortcut keys for things like, open cargo = shift+c, open dronebay = shift+d, autopilot = shift+w REALLY useful. - Ka Dargo. [ 2005.04.10 14:41:05 ] Your 425mm Railgun II perfectly strikes Dread Pith Massacrer, wrecking for 1271.6 damage.

Aparently Drones CAN NOT warp with you so remember to put them in your drone bay before moving in warp or through stargates.

When hauling during a corpmine and you empty the the cargo container (the standard type you just jettison) the can will implode. A simple solution to this is to make a new bookmark, name it for ex. "don't toutch" and then drag it into the container.
This thread is really great.. i've learned lots of neat tricks.

Edited by: Christyne on 27/01/2004 09:13:18 First of all I want to say this topic is great, it helped me out a lot in the beginning! Read it all!
2 more things which I find handy:
If you want to see how much ISK you have, just hover your cursor over your wallet. Dont click the button to open it.
If you are on an agent mission, and have dropped off some cargo in some station, you will see your own agent at the right of the screen, and you just right click and set destination, then undock and autopilot!
I also use shortcuts, and advise adding shortcuts for undock and open items this way when you dock in a station where your ships cargo and items do not open automatically, you can type ctrl + o and ctrl + i and to undock ctrl + u for example... Saves time!
Have fun with Eve ;) greetz crz |

Yep, these tips are very useful, can only think of one to add.
When im doing courier missions, I tend to keep the mission journal details open and the people and places open at the same time. You can copy using Ctrl c the system name from the journal and paste using Ctrl v into the people and places search box, especially useful for peeps like me who have illiterate fingers

Not hugely useful but if you right click your ship and show info you will see a picture of yourself click this and you can see your own job history something that is not listed in your charactersheet.

And you can also see your Bio, the way other players would see it. Which you can also not see in char info. If you go to char info and use colors in your bio with color hex codes, <color=0xff000000> black for example, you can see it by r-clicking your ship in space and viewing pilot info by clicking on your picture like BongTodd said... Holding the shift key while dragging a 'pile' of items to your hanger/cargo hold will allow you to specify how many units of that item you wish to move. Handy for splitting up ammo.
One for the Traders - be careful of deals that seem to be too good to be true... they usually are and are traps laid by player rats. To check this, plot a course to the system in question, and see if the route takes you through systems that are bottlenecks or if the destination is a one gate i.e. easily blockadable, system. Also check for the number of players podded/ships destroyed in last 24 hours by toggling the display details in your map. Do all the above before setting out on that deal of a lifetime, it could save your ship.

Edited by: Arkathra on 01/02/2004 02:25:08 Here's an old question that keeps on poping up, even players who have been on EVE for months still think that it happens.
I'm talking about skill training and what happens when you cancel training, and what happens when you change training from one skill to another without canceling first, and if you lose skillpoints doing either.
The answer is: Nothing , nothing happens , canceling a skill or changeing a skill will not make you lose skillpoints gained, if such were the case i'd be restarting training on my skills all the time since I cancel all the time because I jump between characters a lot.
Sometimes it looks like it, maybe all the time, but close down the character sheet and open it again, and you will see that the skillpoints are back at where they were when the skill was still training.
It's like the graphical glitch with the attributes when changeing ships, it looks like you lose all points gained from implants and skill, but that's it, it only looks like it, nothing more.
So one last time, just incase you forgot what i said after reading this little essay(sp?) you don't lose skillpoints gained when canceling or changeing a skill being trained.
"Don't look conspicuous; it draws fire." "Never draw fire; it irritates everyone around you." "The universal aptitude for ineptitude makes any human accomplishment an incredible miracle."

A real handy tip that everyone should keep in mind and try.
Get nakid and rub oil all over you, go in cowboy boots, put on a cowboy vest and hat, jump on the woman from behind and say you have STD.

I haven't been playing long but I have noticed a quick way to reload your guns. Right click the icon on the display and select reload. You can also change ammo types that way. Ok this may be obvious to mose but some people that have played a lot longer than me didn't know that. |
