mmm... well, considering that the max skill points in learning right now is 5,376,000 I'm curious as to how the 1st and 2nd place people in that area got those numbers.
On a side note, useful intel to find out what a player is good at when it comes to PvP.

There was a bug for a few weeks where skill training wan't completing properly, allowing some people to unintentionally train beyond the end of a skill. I can vouch for both of the people on that list. ---

I am a suspicious soul...maybe someone can explain something to me.
When I look at Scorpyn, Pestily, Last Starfighter, Tom Baker or my OWN character, the missile skills are listed in alphabetical order. When I look at Indesin's they are listed in REVERSE alphabetical order. I just wonder WHY is all? --- Monty Pythons spoof of the EVE Forums; Palin: "Is this the right room for an argument?" *EDIT* - ok, the sorting appears random...just went back to my character via a differnet route and my skills were also inrevers alphabetical order. I'd still like to know WHY though .
It has to do with the order records where inserted in the table. I have since ordered the query to make it consistent. Here is the query.
select id, name, rank, skillpoints, level from characters_skills where character_id='$charID' and group_id='$skill_group_id' order by name asc ___________________________________ BIG member :: Skills Showroom |

Actually this problem was caused for me, by getting skill points for doing things. (Used to be in the game in the first few months.)
Basically every time you completed a level in a skill, you would get a few points of learning skill. Since I had the skill maxed out very early in the game, I picked up some extra points which are basically meaningless.

Sara...I think I'm going to stop using your site. It's too open to hacking of the xml.
Fir instance, I'd like to know how Momfer Undersand, who when he first uploaded to the site was pretty much on a par with me, has suddenly (in the space of less than a week) leapt to 2 million SP ahead of me.
Yeah, I know he could have been training a long skill, what with the update on the xml file and all...but it's still true that if people added a few hundred thou SP here and there, how would you know?
All the people that contributed to Dr. Caymus's thread had to invest time to do so...plus Dr. C is pretty good at keeping an eye on things...this (whilst GLORIOUSLY written) is just too easy for anybody to contribute to.
No reflection on you Sara, and probably more on me than anybody else...I have trust issues, my analyst says so! --- Monty Pythons spoof of the EVE Forums; Palin: "Is this the right room for an argument?" Cleese: "I've told you once." |

I'm sorry you feel like that :( I cannot prevent anyone from tampering with the XML, it's impossible to verify. The only way to make it in a way that people could not edit it, is for the site to fetch the XML directly from E-O, but that requires inserting the login and password. I'm open to any ideas on how to resolv this issue, but i dont think there is anything that could be done atm. ___________________________________ BIG member :: Skills Showroom |

thnx for that nice idea, i wish ccp would think about those to have it inside eve also, because on the character sheet top info is enough space :P how about to add a info in your site, where i could see on my info which ranking place i have in each category? like number 365 in total SP or around 300 in gunnery, learnings etc. just a small thingy which would help to see by 1 click where i ranking at, and no need to check each category on it own. please keep your work up. thnx Ping

Sara Dawn Currently on the ships/pilots page, you click on a ship and pilots are listed by name ASC order.
Are you able to order the pilots displayed by skillspoints for that particular ship. IE. If you have amarr dread lvl5, and capital ships lvl5, you would be higher in the ranking for that ship than someones who both lvl2 at those skills.
It would need to look skill requirements for that particular ship Primary/Sec/Tert group sets. Add all the SP numbers up and then order on that.

I WISH, OH how I wish, that CCP would take it upon themselves to do this kind of thing. It would be very simple for them to do, as they have the information all to hand, and equally as simple for them to control privacy.
I would have it so that the skillpoints of ALL characters were shown...but NOT the characters name...so the list might look something like;
1. 63,940,853 (Dr Caymus) 2. 55,047,772 (Namarus) 3. 53,948,939 (Anonymous) 4. 53,290,198 (Anonymous) 5. 53,043,409 (Anonymous) 6. 52,637,518 (Fenian) 7. 52,620,053 (Keyser Soze) 8. 52,314,152 (Anonymous) 9. 52,228,601 (Anonymous) 10. 52,096,947 (Whiskey DP)
The point of listing the skill point totals even if not the names is so that you TRULY know your position in the list.
Would be easy for CCP to allow you to set options for allowing/disallowing others to see you character's breakdown of skills as well.
I hope I didn't bring you down with my paranoia...I LOVE what you did, and you did it very well. But you can see the effect you've had with this site, by the sheer number of people who have appeared in the list, who were NEVER tempted to contribute to Dr. Caymus's version. --- Monty Pythons spoof of the EVE Forums; Palin: "Is this the right room for an argument?" I'm a big fan of this tool and I plan on continuing to use it. Sara does a good job of monitoring the xml data being provided. Verification of the accuracy of the data will always be an issue until CCP decides to publish rankings (and I believe they will at some point). Subtle alterations of the numbers might easily go unnoticed. The best we can do is screen it for reasonableness. One thing that can be done if you see unusual or questionable data is to request a screen shot of the character in question. If the data is legitimate, 99% of the time the character will happily provide a screen shot for verification.
I've done some rudimentary analysis of theoretical maximum skillpoints and training rates. Characters with skewed attributes, most likely science/industry characters like myself, might have up to around 66 million skillpoints if they had near-perfect training track records and had picked up some extra points during the short time when activity-based bonus points were being awarded. That figure is probably around 57 million for characters with balanced attributes. Training rates for skewed-attribute specialist characters might be as high as 65,000 per day, and balanced-attribute characters might train at 54,000 per day. Total points or rate of growth in points above these levels are questionable.
With all the interest shown here, in my rankings, in various killboards, etc. I really do think that CCP will start publishing rankings of a variety of statistics at some point. And if they do I would guess that they would use an "opt-in" procedure so that those that wish to remain anonymous may do so.

Any chance that the "Ships & Pilots" area counts the number of ppl that can fly each ship? Like 10 ppl have the requirements of flying a certain ship and the website counts them together and shows it under the ship type on that site.
