Sara Dawn BIG Fountain Alliance	Posted - 2006.07.29 15:03:00 - [1] Hi, everyone, for a long time now we in BIG have been using this tool internaly and i wanted to release it to the public as some people like to keep track on who has the most skilpoints and more skills in one particular category. So here it is, to use it you only need to upload your xml charsheet, to update just repeat the same procedure. I want to release a diferent (public) version of another tool that automaticly updates this site, as we use it internaly it's a windows app who regularly uploads the chars you have selected to the site, xml's still have to be downloaded by means of EMS or similar. Current Features: - List of characters by skillpoints - List of characters by number of lvl5 skills - Top 10 in a skill category - Full ordered list in every category - 2 Diferent Skill tables/matrixes for comparation - List of ships a char can fly - List of chars that can fly a ship - Show missing skills ( color markings: green you have all the pre requirements and can train right away, yellow you'r missing some pre requirements for it, red are skills not release to the public yet) - Marking on "freshness" of charsheet - Many other small features and many to come EVE Skills Showroom I'm also making this tool available privatly for corporation or alliances based on member number, drop me a evemail so we can discuss it. Hope this tool will help the people who like to compete skillpoints wise, without the huge threads full of replys, and big working keeping track of everyone's skills for the top. I think my data may have been borked up somewhere during the upload. The ordering of the skills seems slightly erratic and no-one else seems to have suffered from this. It's probably my fault then. Interesting times await...

It's something we've been using for a long time now in BIG and i always wanted to get out but never got arround to do it until now. It was made because managing large corps BIG needed to know who could fly what, and alot of people want skilling advice, whow as the best in something, all of this was hard before. I dont know how techy you are, but here's the way group total skillpoints are calculated, no real room for mistakes, also the values are feeded directly from the xml to the database, no changes are made. select sum(skillpoints) from characters_skills where group_id='270' and character_id='145638804'; Returned: 5155277 My best guess is that they arent somehow syncronized, the xml and charsheet in e-o, could you please check ingame and try to upload it again, maybe the xml is now updated. Correct, any problems in that area are due to xml exports, i have noticed the following problems. - Doesnt always have the implants, some times it does, sometimes it doesnt - Doesnt have the 6,7,8,9,10 implants - For some reason doesnt always have the same amount of skillpoints, can go up and down. This is a copy paste off the code that calculates the amount of skills points you have. $character['skillpoints'] = $db->getOne("select sum(skillpoints) from characters_skills where character_id='$charID'"); It just adds it all up. Any chance of adding this statistic? Not sure if someone else already mentioned this, only skimmed through most of the thread so might have missed it if someone did.

Sara Dawn BIG Fountain Alliance	Posted - 2006.07.31 18:57:00 - [51] It's not the site itself, it's a matter of available bandwidth, one of my customers is moving alot of data atm, he's been at it all day, should take a couple more hours. But the good news is that in a few days i'm moving those servers to a new location due to the growth of my customers. And i'll have a full 100mbits internet connection to myself, should be flying in a few days. From my home cable isp, to that new host, the pings average from 18 to 20ms, it's insanely fast. Also i have a couple more stats and features comming that will be available the next day after the move. Also i'm thinking of limiting the first page to "top" 100. Stay Tuned BIG Sales

Something like a search function that would also display any given pilots closest competition,in any given field?...Still awsome work no matter what though..

You would see their skill points, but not their names. In fact, since Foiritain said he edited the xml file to only add one section, I assume it's a simple matter to change the NAME of the character prior to uploading...I wouldn't know how, but I'm sure SOMEONE could figure it out... Since the detail page shows the char id... inputing that char id on the eve site results in 1 clicks in last posts by, 1 sec later you know who it is. So in that way, it's pretty simple to figure out.

If I may suggest: It seems that the home page takes a long time to load, perhaps because you are querying a database each time. A standard industry trick is to convert that page to a static HTML page that is generated from your database at specific intervals, or at specific events. For example, you could generate it every 5 minutes, or have it generated whenever someone uploads their char. This should significantly reduce the load on your server, and make access quick for users. As well, you could convert the Top 10 lists into small static HTML chunks that are generated the same way, and are server-side included into the home page. Just a few thoughts. -

Oveur did some data mining in February. At that time, there was one character in the database with between 55 and 60 million points. I then had 53 million. There were another 6 characters in the 50 to 55 million range, one of which we knew, Rhyslin, now retired, who then was about a million points behind me. We have yet to see positive identification of any of the other six characters that were above 50 million at that point in time. Since my focus is on science and industry (I also like engineering and mechanic for energy management and defensive purposes, and I've dabbled in electronics a bit), I've only trained advanced Mem and Int skills to level 5 And, for that matter, I still just have basic (+3) Perception, Willpower and Charisma implants.

I have only removed skills though, none are added. I don't consider that to be a problem unless stats for skillpoints per skill is added to the page. Edit : For a link to a screenshot, look here. Since it's not allowed to modify screenshots before posting them there, feel free to petition and have someone from CCP:s end verify that the skill list is genuine if you can't take my word for it.

Take note of the location where you saved the xml file. Then go in the skill showroom website, find the place where you can upload your xml. Browse to your saved XML file, and upload it. Q.'s 1) You could rank isk too as the XML shows your current wallet. 2) You could "show alts" as other chars on the account shows in the XML. I'd love to see # of rank 5's, skills/sp etc. in the char selection. Great job :)) will try to regularly upload. and pass the link on.

It has to do with the order records where inserted in the table. I have since ordered the query to make it consistent. Basically every time you completed a level in a skill, you would get a few points of learning skill. Since I had the skill maxed out very early in the game, I picked up some extra points which are basically meaningless.

The only way to make it in a way that people could not edit it, is for the site to fetch the XML directly from E-O, but that requires inserting the login and password. Are you able to order the pilots displayed by skillspoints for that particular ship. IE. If you have amarr dread lvl5, and capital ships lvl5, you would be higher in the ranking for that ship than someones who both lvl2 at those skills. It would need to look skill requirements for that particular ship Primary/Sec/Tert group sets. Add all the SP numbers up and then order on that.

Sara does a good job of monitoring the xml data being provided. Verification of the accuracy of the data will always be an issue until CCP decides to publish rankings (and I believe they will at some point). Subtle alterations of the numbers might easily go unnoticed. The best we can do is screen it for reasonableness. One thing that can be done if you see unusual or questionable data is to request a screen shot of the character in question. If the data is legitimate, 99% of the time the character will happily provide a screen shot for verification. I've done some rudimentary analysis of theoretical maximum skillpoints and training rates. Characters with skewed attributes, most likely science/industry characters like myself, might have up to around 66 million skillpoints if they had near-perfect training track records and had picked up some extra points during the short time when activity-based bonus points were being awarded. That figure is probably around 57 million for characters with balanced attributes. Training rates for skewed-attribute specialist characters might be as high as 65,000 per day, and balanced-attribute characters might train at 54,000 per day. Total points or rate of growth in points above these levels are questionable. With all the interest shown here, in my rankings, in various killboards, etc. I really do think that CCP will start publishing rankings of a variety of statistics at some point. And if they do I would guess that they would use an "opt-in" procedure so that those that wish to remain anonymous may do so.
