Honestly, I didn't even think it could be done as I'm just a lowly miner trying to earn a dime. In order to keep up with the expiring omber fields, I pack my barge and everything I own in a Iteron Mk3 and travel from system to system trying to sc*****a living (a Eve Gyspy of sorts). The highest prices for Iso are only in certian areas so I travel there when I have enough to sell. Then Boom, around 100 million (nearly everything I've worked for) blown to dust. Well, excpet for the 100,000 or so Isogen that surrivied acording to the email which I assume was picked up by the bastards.
Sad when you can't even afk dock in a .9 system. There should be something in place to SEVERLY punish people who do this and it should apply to ALL their characters on a account.
On a side note, Insurance should be for the contents of a ship as well. There should be some way to haul around your stuff and have it insured. The main problem is, hauling around a $25 mil barge + $50 mil worth of it's equipment is rough when the iteron only has insurance to a fraction of that amount.

LOL, afk'ing in something that dies easy with a lot of valuables... in such a short sentence it should be pretty clear on what end of the smart/stupid scale that action lays...

Why would you risk everything you own by having it in a hauler? Basicly you answered that question yourself though - you didnt think you could die.
Well. You can. And instead of screaming for the people responsible to be punished, you should punish yourself for making the mistake thinking you were safe. I can throw a few millions your way if you like though... as a loan.

Another case of all eggs in one basket, AFK, and still whining.
If this ever happened to me, I'd be too embarrassed to post about it.
It's like saying you left your car in Manhattan with all your life savings in cash, with the keys in it, and got mad because it got stolen, seeing as there are so many cops around.
Seriously, stop doing this to yourselves. It takes away your braincells.

As a miner you really, IMO, shouldn't concern yourself that much over absolute max price received from stuff. Just refine it and sell it on the spot.
First, it leaves out those risky transport operations, let someone else take the risk! Second, if you sold your stuff to highest bidder what would traders do? ;)
In highsec you can mine with very small losses if you so desire. In such situation going after those few isks over local price paid somewhere else is kind of stupid.

I attempted to find a post where someone in a similar situation got suicide ganked by a Raven...except he had the foresight to tank his industrial with shield extenders, and even AFK, he managed to survive the attack long enough for the BS that attacked him to be CONCORDed.
He used his brains. You did not.

Punishment in CCP way: give them insurance for their ships lost to CONCORD and let them steal your cargo in high security system in front of police force which killed them for murdering you.
However you shouldn't haul so much cargo in weak Iteron. Especially not if it was all your assets. If you had Elite Industrial, you would survive. If you made it in two or three trips, they wouldnt attack you. If you had instas, they couldnt kill you.
Sadly, due to game design flaws, this highsec ganking tactic is profitable, so you have to be very careful with hauling valuable cargo. Train for Tranport ships asap and you should be safe.

Actually it's more akin to Parking your nice RV with vehichle in tow in front of a high class Beverly hills Police station that would be across the road from a large military base, and with a donut shop on both sides then having it blown up with plastic explosives, somone runs off with the one spare tire that didn't get destoryed, they get caught, and after getting a slap on the wrist there back doing it again with nobody caring.
I don't care about losses, I've had ships blown before but I knew I was going somewhere that I could get blown to bits and I accepted that fact. The time before I not only lost my barge but all my implants. No big deal, I tried getting to somewhere dangerous and that's the risk I took.
However, there should be some areas where it is safe. People do have lives outside of video games belive it or not (well I do, though I doubt some of these people do)....
Oh, and shield boosters or not when 3 ships start shooting with everything they have and you're in an iteron, na you're going down.
Should I have known better, yea I should have. I've been playing these things since Meridian 59 and haven't found one yet where there isn't a 13 yo wannabe looking to gank someone. It's not a big deal, no matter how many of these roaches you squash, people keep making more (we need more birth control) so it's really no use.
Main point: there should be some areas which are safe, "some" people have lives outside of video games and sometimes things happen.
To the other people who aren't included in the "some people" . I'll deal with you when my skills are trained and I have enough ammo. Damn Roaches.

Edited by: Asnar on 31/07/2006 10:07:31 If things happen when you're flying around with all your possisions in a paper bag... you dock!
And it's a freaking game, killing you doesn't make any a roach that needs crushing.... and your birth control remark is way out of line.

Getting insurance after suicide ganking makes absolutely no sense at all.
Sure, if you wanna suicide gank something, cool, but why should the law pay your bills for it?

Edited by: Bhaal on 31/07/2006 10:16:07 You learned one very important lesson: CCP allows griefing, especially in high sec.
So basically, in your situation, you're not allowed to move your stuff in a u-haul in a very high security system and get away with it.
They don't want ppl to have fun in high sec, just want them to learn that there are a lot of *******s who play this game. You learned that with a very expensive lesson...

Stupid argument. Death due to criminal activity and due to mistake are two different things. First one is never covered by any insurance, while the other one is exactly what insurance was created for.

**** happens...
Buy yourself a Battleship if you have the cash, or something smaller like a cruiser. Fit it with as many smart bombs you can, and go blow others up in Jita as they did to you. You probally wont get the people who did it to you, but, you will get some other poor soul who made the mistakes you have. Get a buddy to scoop the cans that drop.
If you require some funds for said event, contact me in game and we can have a chat ------------------------

Repeat after me
"There is no safe space anywhere in Eve."
Understand that and you understand the game more. There are three types of space
0.0 No safety net at all might is right failing that be quick or be stealthy.
0.1 to 0.4 very unsafe but minimal protection afforded by gate gun
0.5 to 1.0 is SAFER not safe.
Anyone can attack you anywhere as long as they are prepared to accpet losing their ship. If it was in a freighter or a Battleship your stuff would not have died.
