i would guess there is a note inside written in chinese. the writing will say. when the empire is figthing again, brother against brother, this gate will bring dead to neu eden.
an the empires dead can read the note because it is written in his language.
let us all hope that this gate will never open again to show us what is left from the terran empire. if its open we shouldnt forget that if terra dint fell in a dark age too, they will be in front of us thousnds of years.
sorry for my bad english

BTW - The drone hive is in the system BEFORE you get to the system which actually contains the Eve Gate.
Because you all are such doubters - I went back to my bookmark and dropped a secure can.
When you finally get to it, you can thank me for NOT sharing my bookmark.
(Spoiler: Yes - the background is just spinning and can never be reached and probably only exists on your graphics card memory. However, there is a spacial distortion to which you can travel. There is a loop in space. I have never seen the ruins near the sun though... Interesting... Do I think you can ever get to a place where your ship implodes - NO. If you go solo, there is no way you will be able to "SEE" that space is curved. When STI got to the "wormhole site" we all agreed that we were individually the "closest" when we compared our visual location versus the other ships. It is in this way we proved the curvature of space. (watch your distance from the sun as you progress) Is that just an effect of the disk shaped solar system? Hard to tell. The truth is out there.)
Trust - I guess we have to wait till the contract system is in place to see who you can and cannot trust.
*smile*
By the way - I am NOT asking for any prize money - The Journey IS The Destination.

Edited by: Tecam Hund on 29/08/2006 11:36:07 The wormhole is practically unreachable. When you arrive in the system look at wormhole's position in relation to the sun. Then warp to the sun and look at the wormhole again.
If it is indeed a physical object its probably at least 100 AU away from any object that can be reached by warp in the system.

Originally by: Katrina Kirellii As part of my time in STI, we made an expedition to the wormhole. Yes you can get there. Eve Gate When you are flying, keep track of your distance from the Sun. That is the key - knowing where you are and where you have been. The destination you will find is the Journey. In that Journey - you will find Eve.
That thing in the bottomleft is the star in the system, not a wormhole. The thing you can see in the distance (the eve gate) is part of the background, it's not an actual object and is unreachable. You did not reach it. As for the curvature of space, I just plain dpon't believe you and think you're a madman :).
If you're telling the truth, you would be willing to give some copies of your bookmark to the weird things like the "sensor barriers which prevent warping ahead", the places that make you "warp to places you don't expect" and to that spatial anomaly you mentioned. I suggest that they simply do not exist and you are unable to prove otherwise.

Interesting read...
Seeing as CCP, as far as I know, haven't supplied any statement saying whether its just a background image or not, makes me even more curious. And even if they said such a thing, I would still want to find out whats in that container, if its empty or not.
I also thought, wouldn't it be a great idea, if CCP made another server, and this server was infact the EVE gate. And in either to pass to the other server(An expanded part of the galaxy) you'd have to pass through the EVE gate. That would be cool.
PS:has anyone been getting weird messages of someone called Zinn saying the EVE gate will reopen in 7 days lol?? Maybe it was just a random message frm some nut

I did better than that - I put a can out there and dated it for you. Just look for my name when you scan.
Ask someone else if my can is there if you don't want to look.

I know this is a necro, but I wanted to provide this tip.
You can achieve insane speeds by bumping yourself off of the sun. To do this you'll require a bookmark somewhere near the center of the sun. Warp to it with the most massive ship you have (Freighter preferably) and watch.
This may be of help in travelling such distances. ----- That glorious ship is a Templar-class fighter, the sword of light and purity which our carriers shall drive into the hearts of the Minmatar heretics! |

Just as a back-up to this, yeah. I've hit some decent speeds warping to bookmarks I've left in planets - "The Mains Created the alts They rebelled They look...and feel...human Some are programmed to think they are human There are many alts. And they have a plan." - Forumstar Galactica |

You guys do realize that at one point in this game a long time ago, a person could warp to a bookmark of the solarsystem, all this would accomplish was too make the ship itself expend its entire capacitor and warp in the current direction it was pointing, and there was no destination, the ship just stoped at the exact point where its capacitor was able to take it, so in say an apoc you could warp 500+ AUs in one direction of your chooseing, im thinking at least one person tried this and could get there, if there was some kind of great finale too it all then it would have been discovered already. Oh and pods doing this trick wouldnt stop warp since pods dont use cap too warp they just kept going, until you loged off too force warp to stop.

*Bump*
So did we finally figure it out? What was the furthest anyone went? # of Hours / KPS?
There is the post about 3 ships making a six hour flight to triangulate the things position... but somehow that just does not seem to add up. The gate could just be out of scanner range and be something like a parsect away.. who knows... But I did file a petition for an argument that players (in the ships) could still properly triangulate the distance of the Stargate using nothing more than an old fasion sextant and two known points (the stargate and the sun). From there it would be a simple matter of using a simple filter to mitigate the luminous Corona of the gate (welders goggles could accomplish this) and a fixed point on the edge of the gate. And VIOLA, distance to gate figured.
Only problem is we can't bust out our sextants and there is no way to get percise fixed point measurements with the current in game system. Hence why I filed the petetion. If I get anything back Ill post it. In the mean time, Im gonna start planning to assemble a scientific expedition ship to reach the gate. Right now it needs to be built for speed and sustainment. What would be the best ship/skill stack to accomplish this. Second, would any scanner upgrades possibly help in finding the other cans/deadspace pockets near the gate?
And finally, every time we go AFK we get warped in a random direction. Could this be used to potentially 'warp closer' to the gate to mitigate travel time? As long as you have a slow 'spin up' ship, you can easily cancel the warp back to you last know position upon logging back on. -Are we considered truly lost if we do not know where we are, but have little desire to return home? |

tbh someone should specifically make an alt and buy a crappy computer (im lukin at u dell)
then they should get a condor or sumthing and buy some rly rly rl;y expensive capaictor recharge rigs
fir ou an mwd and all the cap enhancing stuff u can fit on
point in direction of the gate turn the mwd on and go and play on ur rl computer
come back afew weeks later and if u havnt reached it then well....uu havnt

Infuriating!!! I want an answer! This is a great read though (aside from the preachy broad; I've never seen such an overwritten post. A tip, if you're going to shamelessly plagiarize spiritual axioms, at least use ones that aren't so cliche... ).
I would love to see this threat continued. I would suggest paying by the km, so if the current furthest can is 128,000 km out, and someone makes it to 129,500, a responsible member could pay something like 100 isk per km. My corp would be more than willing to donate to the cause.
P.S. - if you make it to the can, you'll have to take payments.

I was flying towards the eve gate, and it dawned on me, I have my alt flying to new eden with a scan probe launcher but what the heck why not run a short range scan with the onboard scanner, I did and I found a Drone area its 8.9 AU form the stargate but it looks alot closer on the map to the eve gate then the sun, Ill post if I find anything else with my alts scan probs, for a BM, contact me in game, via EVE-Mail subject: EVE GATE, or send me a convo.

Ok his is really frustrating, will CCP please let us know if it is a background image or an actual object, i dont expect a full explanation of it but just a hint as to wether ppl are wasting their time and gettin dissapointed or there is somethin there, just no1 has found it/made it? To think about it this would actually make for a pretty cool event, like say concord ships all over the system and stargate protecting the ppl in the system and preventing the event from gettin spoiled, and one of the NPC factions doing an exploration site type thing with an agent in space asking you to help them fully explore the eve gate.

Scan probes turned up nothing new in the system, just the drone area, the BMs in the can near the gate have been replaced with 1 unit of trit, I am 14,000 from the group of cans, I hope those BMs are still in place. if not then I will prob stop here, and leave more BMs to the group of cans in the first can, hopefully, they will be there, and Ill post how far from the sun they go. the goal isnt to reach the gate, its to reach the last can in the system, witch i dont see on my scanner but then again alot of other cans are in my way, might have looked over it. :)

Ok, I reached the cans, the BMs where still there, better yet, the can we are looking for is only 80,000,000 km away from the closest BM, I put new BMs in the cans for the drone area, witch is closer to the gate but not our can, I also added new BMs to the can at the gate, to get to the 2 cans in deep space, Jaidar wasnt kidding it took alot to get to his cans, if anyone needs a copy of the BMs to his cans bc thecan at the gate got looted let me know in game, Till then, ill be heading for the can till I get board, need to fit a faster ship for this, anyway, GL ppl, Ill be keeping track of my new fav fourm and pet project.

To accomplish this, you need to lure people with publicity and money. If enough people pooled ISK, someone would be interested enough to find out. With the large human resources available to the big alliances today, I'm sure an expedition could be put out. Or CCP can just answer, though I think they want us to find out. Anyway, if anyone finds anything symbolic, such as the gate, some ruins with weird text, a portal to Earth and the discovery of hotdogs, etc., can prove it with a BM and multiple screenshots, then I will personally give you 100million ISK. Stuff like this sounds really fun, I'm just 77 jumps from the system.

Do this properly people, what is the fastest anyone can go in eve with a ship that a normal player can get hold of and what would be the best set-up to attain the fastest sustainable speeds Don't forget to include boosters and implants in that. Edited by: Syberbolt8 on 14/09/2007 12:05:31 With a worthless setup as far as defense and pvp gos I can get a myrmidon upto 13,000 m/s with t2 gear, you need to use an oversized MWD and nanofibers to reduce mass, as well as cap rechargers in the mids and mass reducing rigs. its a worthless setup for everything but pure speed, idk if it can run forever yet though
not a cheap setup so i wouldnt take it into lowsec without heavy defenes
