I started playing Eve on launch day (inability to train skills the entire first day anyone?) and was wondering how many other players from, or around, launch day are still playing. I remember when daily downtime was supposed to be phased out as the cluster and initial problems were fixed. I'm not complaining about it, those are just two things I remember from back then.

Me. Still playing since beta....
The things I remember most were Bistot in empire and no sentries. There were also more low sec systems than their is now.
So in war, the way is to avoid what is strong and to strike at what is weak.

Some started at the beginning and have much lesser sp. then thouse guys.
Skill points are btw over-rated.
been ace all the way and truth about it feels "whole" and it¦s preaty balanced then back in the day. dual mwd and ab setups and megapuls of death.
So i still fun and will be taht for many years to come.
w00t feel special now and warm in the tummy.

I got on shortly after lunch day then stoped playing until a few days ago. So Oddly enough I have a 3years plus Toon still in the noobie corp with only like a month of actuly play time.

Who remembers the end of beta blast where everyone had all skills maxed and were given a ton (in beta terms) of money? Sadly I missed out on the huge BS battle that took place but I hear it was a lot of fun :D

Here since late beta, I remember launch day. No skilltraining that'd work, the market being slightly iffy, and the mad rush to the "good" systems you inhabited during beta so you'd be able to start mining and make iskies.
Ah, the good days when an NPC bounty of 1500 ISK was a lot.

Fired up a real account a few weeks after release, been playing off and on since then (with a total of 3 diff. chars).

I played since launch day however I quit 1 month after and re-subscribed only a week ago.
I played so many other MMOs during the 3 years of absence from EVE and came to the conclusion that none match EVE's PvP, Economic and Political dynamics.

Seem a lot don't remember. Maybe because they did not have time to train the skills. The last week or so of beta we were givin several billion iskies, the skills for titans as well as the ships were on market. I was able to skill up about the last 2 days of it and had a blast in the minmatar titan with large guns on it, lol. Least that's my recolection of it.

I started on day one of retail 
I've taken two subscription breaks when I've found my enthusiasm waning rather than carry on and risk killing the game for good for me.
Seems to work, both times within a month or two I was pining so hard for Eve I've come back more enthusiastic than ever.
/me is not planning to take any more breaks

Another Beta player here... Although, I took a 18 months break...
a couple of things I remember from back then.
1.The Famous blockade in Mara, Lord Zap and Ywev from the m0o corp as the main pilots.
2.No advanced training skills, and
3.I remember the big fight in YZ-LQL in the FOUNTAIN region when m0o tried to killed anything alive in that solarsystem.

Edit to mention I was in beta too, was more curious about launch day but forgot about beta.
I no longer have my original character, but I was here on launch day (actually the last couple months of beta and then launch day). Left to play WoW, and got rid of my original character about a year ago (worst mistake I ever made), thinking I wouldnt come back. But I kept my industrial alt and assets, and decided to come back a few months ago. Been regretting getting rid of my original character ever since.
And for the record, its still not fair the euro's got to start on the live cluster before the US players :)

The biggest issue was on day 1 where not a single person could train a skill due to a bug and it wouldn't be fixed until the next day. A lot of players were stuck in very basic ships, some had their character set up to use the best mining frigate of their race (Probe for me, while others were stuck in a Burst). That was fixed after the first day though and my memory is terrible so I don't recall any other issues, I'm sure others will though.

Speak for thyself. Philadelphian here and I got in fine, no problems.
It hit shelves here a day after it hit shelves there. I remember being very bent about that at the time. Although I guess the extra day gave my system a chance to recover from the lag of "armageddon day" (the last day of beta).

Still here from beta 6 or 7....
Done mining, building, missions, pvp, pos etc, and its still fun....
Frig fights are more exciting than long tanking BS fights any day.

I tried the final beta but the font was too small so I went back to E&B.
Came back in Feb '04 and could finally read the font (thanks to an LCD screen). I'm now just here because I want to see them implement a custom size font so I can thank them

I was in one day after EVE went gold -- I had it on preorder, but EVE didn't get into the store where I placed the order until one day later -- but then like an idiot, I left for 2 years, 3 months, and 5 days!!! That's something like 30, 35 million SP gone!!! 
And I did nothing with that time, all I did was play EQ, EQ2, and MxO. (Although, to be fair, I should say that MxO was cool until Sony tracked me down and followed me into the Matrix!!! )

Might not have been a first day player, but I'm still here. Started in Beta5, couldn't get the game until three weeks after launch due to cashflow issues. Had my first character on Tranquility destroyed by the one and only rollback.
Edit: Birthdate 5/15/2003 and been in the same corp ever since. 30.5mill sp so far.

early beta 2 when the game would not stay up more than 30 min and it took 20min to log in i am almost ready for the omg your still playing clone. think my sp is like 28 million. i will be here till the servers go down for the last time. remember the first day i played was still playing eb, after a half hour of eve canceled eb and have been here since. 
talk is cheap the cost of action is enormus

I was on E&B beta (anyone else remember the horrific stress tests?). Didn't have enough cash to subscribe to E&B, and when I came back a few months ago, I found that it had been cancelled. But--what was this? This "Eve" game was offering a cheap price to E&B switchovers? Well, the link didn't work any more, but there was a free 14-day trial, so what the hell?
So, no, I'm not launch day, not by a long shot. But I just wanted to share that story.

Not quite launch day here either,since i started about 2 1/2 months after the game hit retail,mostly because the local game stores take forever in getting new releases.....
Still,3 years 2 weeks later,always playing the whole time and still here....
Though i must admit that isk/ship wise,i've kinda reached a peak,and these days,just concentrate on training ever longer skills,till something i want is released in the mext major patch...
