A quick look at Dotlan shows that the top 10 alliances in the game are pretty much the same. Do you miss the days when there were more than just a few alliances in null sec at any given time?
IAC, Foundation, IO, Aggression., Sc0rched earth, Atlas, Firmus Ixion, BoB, MC, TCF, YouWhat, Axiom, et. al. What ever happened with Tortuga and Seleen? IRON, BRUCE, Morsis, BDEAL, Zenith
Did we ever "free Kartoon"?
When did the game turn into everybody on team A or B? and do you miss having more teams in nullsec?
Do you think these changes will make that a thing again? |

And not to mention SE, SA, FA and Curse alliance. And yes i do miss some of those alliances, or at least the content theat was created because of them.
QUOTE CCP Dolan and the EVE Online development team:-áThe battle was relatively even for some time with CFC and Russian forces holding moderate lead at first and only have a slight lead in Titan kills. Then came a turning point in the battle. Manfred Sideous, the initial Fleet Commander for PL/N3, handed over command to the CEO of Northern Coalition., Vince Draken

Nope, because once players made it to that level they can never turn back.
But to the first question, yes i miss it personally. Both because the forums was filled with multiple groups of people shouting at each other (Not just smugpost from those few at the top and "grrgoons" from the noobs.. It was a colourful and interesting setting in forums (and ingame) then), and because the game itself is choking now.... in contrast to a live and vibrating nullsec.
But as stated, we will NEVER have that again.. there will always be a way to clump together obscene numbers of people to become more powerfull than "the others". And since it has been done and demonstrated (cfc/N3), it will be done again.

Or most of their members couldn't bot any more and when someone came along to evict them they had no idea how to defend themselves? I.e. the old Northern Coalition alliances. Those lists are like a who's who of botters and RMTers. |

When people started all dogpiling into the biggest groups, abandoning their alliances which fell apart, and all just congealed into a steaming mess of CFC, N3, and Proviblock. I mean, sure, there's Hero coalition, but they're basically just an N3 pet/interest group/meat shield.
I think a lot of us would rather not be in these giant coalitions, but when the game favours them, and going against the status quo is practically impossible (under current mechanics), it has forced even those who would rather things be as they were, to adapt to the current system.
Hopefully over the next year, we can see some of the good old names resurge. and some of the players who once carried their banners returning to bring back the glory.

I remember Lord Zapp and co terrorizing fountain alliance as well as the I don't even remember who controlled querious at that time. C something. I rememebr when the first player controlled npc stations were introduced and how there was a mad scramble to claim them. With jump fatigue I hope smaller entities will pop up and hold their space leading to more small scale engagements. It's better for the game overall. I feel that CCP is heading in the right direction and that's why I am back in the game.
If this game can get back to the 2008-2009 era where this game was at its peak we would have a lot more fun. Hell, I am all for bringing back the old POS sov mechanics..... bash me all you want but I enjoyed those way more than the whole ihub none sense. |

Surprised they weren't brought up earlier. Those were the days, where our 20-30 man roaming gang could take on a hundred because we had skills and tactics. Blob warfare (and killing AOE) killed that group. |

Quick look at dotlan? Okay.
Northern Associates: 652 systems. 10617 members. Shadow of xXDeathXx: 272 systems. 6084 members. Brothers of Tangra: 126 systems. 4057 members. Greater Western Co-Prosperity Sphere: 82 systems. 2363 members.
I do miss the old days where people actually f'ing did something about renter empires. NCdot is renting out almost 1 in 4 claimable systems that exist. Look at that big brown shitstain in the south. The alliances I remember would jump through their own assholes to shove their collective dicks in that pie. |

Really miss those days from The Five, Band of Brothers, FIX, Ascendant Frontier, IAC, D2, Lotka Volterra and much others. They all had charismatic leaders in wich a single miss understood line about one of them in these forums could spark a war in game with devastating effects.
Today we have alliances and leaders that were (are) happy in growing rich for years and uncapable of turning the table up side down, because they were in the mood of it. Today the leaders are the ones of the "Botlord" kind.
TBH I have to give a special word to Vince Draken from NC. for actually "turning the table" when they went to war against the entire CFC knowing that they would lose in the end but didn't give a **** about it. It was the last time I saw some old fashion "**** politics let's smash them the face ... why ? Do I really need a reason ?"
