Once your eyes are open, you can start to be truly engaged in the game, truly involved, and you begin to see the game in a brand new light. Veers is just the opposite end of the spectrum from us really, he's a bad guy who sees himself as a good guy. Whereas we're good guys, who actively make ourselves out to be the bad guys. Most of my best in-game contacts have been made at the end of a gun, so to speak: I chat up victims, give them tips on how not to get ganked by one lonely guy in a corp, and bam, instant friendship. I see this trend in the greater EvE community as well: lots of former anti-gankers have changed their tune and embraced ganking, but I see very few gankers doing so. Me? I just like to have fun.
