I have this crazy friend who thinks that an indy could dock with a freighter and transfer cargo.
AFAIK this isn't possible, however he is adamant.
Having never used one I don't know, but can someone who has a freighter answer?

I'm the crazy friend. If you are in space, and right click on a freighter, it gives you the option to dock. So far I've only looked at this when I was in a frig, but I never tried to dock.
If we can't dock with a freighter, then why is the option there?

Odd..
Well the weird thing is, I know what I saw...
I'll petition it.
The circumstances were, I was in gang with the freighter, and we were moving it around. I right clicked to set distance, and noticed an option "Dock."

It probably wasn't a freighter; it was, most likely, a carrier.

This is not the first time he's been adamant he's seen things which aren't there....despite the fact he doesn't do drugs. It must just be some kind of mental illness
P.S. I know it wasn't a carrier, we were on the same op. I didn't right-click on it, so didn't notice, but were escorting a freighter for sure

Whats the point? You can't dock at frieghters. You never could. Are you sure you didnt have your frigate parked by a Carrier/Mothership/Titan?
...on the other hand using a banana might be a viable alternative.

You either right clicked on a Carrier or a station by mistake. Definately cannot dock at freighters.

I don't think "petition" is the word you're looking for. Perhaps "Bug report" is a more appropriate response. 
Even then, I wouldn't Bug report it unless you've got a screen shot reproducing that "bug". Sounds to me like you were just tripping when you clicked on the freighter, or perhaps you just need to learn the distinction between a carrier and a freighter.

Was there a station either behind the ship or directly behind you? I have noticed a number of times that items behind me can interfere with my clicking even though they are not visible on-screen.

I would have thought this was the case, but I made sure there were no stations or anything behind the freighter. YEs it def. was a freighter. And I even tried it several times in several different systems, approaching stargate, leaving stargate, leaving station, and in warp...
I haven't said that I can't see the dock option any more, as I haven't been anywhere near a freighter recently to check it out again.
If I am not mad, and not mistaken, then the only thing I can think of is that my client was buggy.... and showing me options from a station I'd been at before...
I will have to check it out for myself of course....
someone find me a freighter... ;)
