Hi Emperor,
Can you please double check your OS and see if its Windows XP Media Center?
Incase you don't know how to check.. right click on My Computer, select properties and it will be under the general tab. Also check to see if Service Pack 2 is installed. If SP2 is installed and your using Media Center, please take a look at a thred I started at 8AM this morning.
Kind Regards,

ensure your firewall (including windows firewall hasn't started blocking Eve from connecting. Firewalls tend to start blocking apps if they have changed but normally send a message asking you to allow the app again.

No firewall, already have .net 1.1... It is strange sometimes the client will let me connect and will get as far as 'aquiring bulk data' and then the server will die on me. The test server tells me my account is disabled (Should not be, everything looks fine on the account page) Gah dis sucks. Please provide information of exactly what happens for you. It seems slightly different from what i have previously heard. Also can you ensure that you can ping the IP for the servers. Any screenshots or additional information may help.

Running BlackIce Firewall, off or on, it still is Unknown. I was playing EvE earlier this evening, wake up to check on some skills and 'Unknown' pops up. . . Any ideas?

I've got the same problem, but I'm not buying the firewall approach. I find Singularity right away, though, no problem! But not Tranquility... |

Could it be some of you have accidentally installed the testing server patch by accident???? I'm not sure how it'll effect the login screen but i know it makes it so you cannot login to the normal game.

Downtime extended to 12:30 GMT, we're deploying server fixes! We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience patch deployment may have caused. Note that minimal OS for Eve will be Windows 2000 SP2.
New MOTD just came up.

Edited by: Tempest Tsai on 23/08/2006 11:48:34 I have XP Pro and after I loaded the patch yesterday, I was able to play just fine. But this morning I can't log in and get this same message.
Could someone tell me what I need to do to my Firewall to allow the game to play?

The same problem here.
I have:
Windows Xp version 5.1 Service Pack 2 Microsoft.Net Framework 1.1 Microsofr.Net Framework 2.0 Till yesterday I ran EVE smooth and fast, today I have the same response:
Status Unknown
Could not connect to the specified address. Odds are that you have not established an internet connection, the server isn't running, or the server address or port number was wrong.
Usually I run EVE under Zone Alarm. I have disabled ZA and Windows default security and the problem remains.
I hope you can bypass this.

maybe as someone suggested that its cuz of the Daily Down time. It is normally at this time. So its best to check in about 20 min before taking it seriously. Cuz 10 min before the daily downtime the Status did say i could connect.
Guess we'll see.

Alright. I open EVE, about 90% of the time it goes from checking status to 'status unknown' I cannot ping 87.237.36.200 like the other guy Here is a tracert to that IP Tracing route to 87.237.36.200 over a maximum of 30 hops

Looks like hop 12 is causing your troubles :) I am just waiting for the test server to fail so I can get its IP and tracert it. Tracing route to 87.237.38.50 over a maximum of 30 hops
