I haven't done fleet pvp yet, but I was wondering...
How often do pilots accidentally shoot down their mates? I don't mean drone bugs or anything like that, just plain "whoops, I had you targeted?" kind of stuff.
Funny stories relating to this are welcome.

I hope that never has happened. If it did, i'd have him podded, and booted from my corporation. ---------------------

In any real combat overview setting you should have friendlies removed from it.. >.>

Some times you got positive standings with certain corp but that corp has you as neutral, or vice versa. It's one type of friendly fire

Most pilots do not have their overview set to show friendly ships in fleet situations.
Shiplosses because of targetback and indirect droneaggro are pretty common in missions and complexes. The client has no real group support. --*=*=*--

I have a killmail where corn1 from -V- was killed by our gang and one of his own. Pretty funny...

Lock before you F1, F2, F3 ... --------- In the blindness, a streak fiery thread violently cuts the horizon. Bleeding golden mists, engulfing the blindness from within. Burning the darkness. The touch of dawn. |

Edited by: Deidranna on 28/08/2006 11:32:05 if you are in a mixed gang, with pilots from different alliances and corps, friendly fire has to happen there are always pilots (lets call them idiots but dont tell them...), shooting on everything they dont know, have no standings with. and these pilots usually lost ts connection or have the gang chat minimized and use this as an excuse ^^

My corp has never been shot by an IAC member in a gang. Making sure your standings are set up correctly before undocking for war like making sure your shoe laces are tied.

more often im guessing since the overview settings were reset.
had at least 2 friendly fire incidents among corp members who started firing at (corp mates) ships showing on overview -5 or less.

Shooting neutrals/friends because of an overview bug isn't uncommon!
Friendly fire happens with fofs and it's damn annoying (I think I've seen more allies shot down by friends' fofs than ennemies)
Sometimes, drones can also cause problems.
One thing that I've seen more than once is tacklers locking on main screen instead of overview and scrambling a gangmate (or a station/gate, which often results in quick and painless death)
And if you count interdictors trapping their gangs inside their own bubble and causing death of a fair amount of gangmates, yes this has and will happen! (Always set your warp disruption launcher to manual) _

I do it all the time in combat, it helps keep my members on their toes. Spices things up a little.

Well, I've also been know to shoot gangmates that AFK without telling me and pilots that keep their frig stopped at a gate or don't align wit the gang, that sort of thing. _

Never had a friendly fire problem in fleet combat while I was in an alliance, but...
I managed to get in on a friendly lach. killmail during a station camp (we were bored), and some tempest pilot decided to test his theory on one volleying a lach, when it had 25% armor. That cost me a bit.
Annother time during a pos siege I almost killed my ceos hauler due to lag and F1, F2, F3... madness =p

I've never hit them with more than a couple of shots, but accidentl fire on friendlies can happen if you are in a ship sporting both support mods as well as weapons.
