Being a very effective pirate, and leading a corp of pirates that alot of carebears fear?
What's Tank famous for? All I've heard of him is he was good way back when, and that he was sold off at some point, and is a carebear now. That's not very dreaded, and none of the newer players are going to fear something from before their time.

(Verone's bs kills + Ginger's BS kills) * 2 < Shamis's bs kills.
Shamis is really a big carebear if only people knew
I would agree with this think I have a screeny of him flying a freighter.
Though, to be honest he is a excellent fleet commander, Verone on the our hand ahh hes good at ganking lone bs miners.

What is ANYONE famous for except that? People only know Verone, Tank CEO, etc as well as they do because they either post on the forum a lot or have a lot of forum posts about them. Look at Ginger Magician, I wouldn't have a clue who he is if not for the posts on the forum, same goes for Verone and Tank CEO. ===============================================

The few famous people I respect in this game, never made their name on the forums. Still they are well known ingame.

No one in this game is anything like a real pirate! Why? Because real pirates wouldn't get 100% insurance on the ships they use for their trade, real pirates also wouldn't have another 2 potentialy secret identities to spy with etc.
Compared to WoW Eve is a very harsh game when it comes to losses etc but with the ransoming system as it is, the way ppl can do a weeks carebeariing in 0.0 to regain sec, the use of alts and even 100% insurance for illegal activity in 1.0 system it's still a joke!
As for most of the players mentioned here they are known due to either taking advantage of the pvp system a few years ago when it was possible to chain concorde in 1.0 etc, for their forum whoring or their sycophantic buddies arselicking them or tactics that allthough are lame are legitimate like gate camping.

Tank is famouse for the same things as ginger, just people dont find him annoying as he doesnt post here anymore.
People hated him, thought he was a bigheaded arrogant nub back when he actually pirated more.
Ginger is the new tank ceo. Maybe if he gets banned soon, in a few yrs time people may talk about the dreaded Ginger.

I dunno about Dread Pirate... but I'll say this:
I'll rank Alliaanna Dalaii as a 'Pirate of Note'.
I can't say one way or the other about the pirating skills, but the misdirection with those T2 BPCs you pulled was really well done. Your a pirate, you did something of note. Pirate of Note.
Sure, the Snigg IPO scam pulled in more isk, but it was just the same old boiler plate 'give me isk because your stupid'.

Like the person said 3 posts up there is noone who really risks anything in the game when it comes to criminal activity.
I might have a change of thought if ppl lost their Navy ravens in suicide attacks in 1.0 or the insurance refused to pay up if you broke concorde laws with the insured ships. Another one would be you could only put escrows up with characters that have trained for more than a few months or even have the same rules on escrow that they have about posting in the alliance section of this forum "no alts or noob corp characters".
Until they start having gameplay that addresses these I am sorry there will never be any pirates of particular note. PVP'ers are not in this catagory allthough for the same reasons they don't have an awfull lot to risk either if they are carefull with the use of jumpclones, ship insurance (if they stick to non faction ships and officer module equiped).

Oh right. So when Verone strolls past some ISSN, or up to an ASCN gate camp, I bet the local cops just tip their hats and wish him a good day. Oh wait.
Just like the folks in The Establishment don't risk anything when they fly that 30bil mothership around and pirate people with it. Because I'm sooooo sure those clowns are not on anyone's wanted list... Oh wait.
I've also not seen ANY videos of people flying around Navy Issue Megathrons kitted out with officer mods and solo pirating scores of people, even 2 on 1... Oh wait.
There are pirates out in 0.0 and low sec, and you spend any ammount of time out there, you'll figure out that some of the locals are more notorious than others.
Poo-pooing on piracy because nobody uses a Navy Raven to suicide gank someone (why would they? All of EVE would laugh at them for being the biggest idiot in EVE.) is just laughable. Pirates don't even go into high sec. Why would they? High-Sec is for shopping and idiots.

I dont know if some people play GW warhammer (fantasy) here, but in warhammer some units or individuals cause "fear" and some do even cause "terror" to enemy units/individuals. For example a "blodthirster demon" causes "terror".
In EVE there are definitivly players that cause fear and also some that cause terror. This means their pure presence changes everything in a system or even constelation, causes players to safespot, dock or regroup into a blob.
Just some names: Tank, Zarq, Shamis, Lordmix
Just some corps: Sniggs, ASS, Zombies, Jokers, Teddys, M0o, Space invaders
I cannot be said who causes the most terror since the effect is the same: people safespot, dock, regroup into a blob - this is "terror". A pirate causing terror looses the option to sneak into enemy groups. So causing "terror" is not only a good thing - it makes hunting harder, but might often save his life when 3 or 4 enemys might be able to kill him, but are so much paralized by his presence that they cannot act at all.

Really. I thought the POINT of this thread was name dropping. The whole 'So who's the Most Dread Pirate in EVE' think confused me. If you didn't want to see gratatious forum whorage, why did you open the thread?
But that is alright. I didn't mean to step on your whole 'I'm so cool and unique because I'm contrary to the masses' routine.

Tough Call...
I think in the last 3 years it's has to be either Lord Zap or Tank CEO..
Been greased by both..
Frustration, agravation and anger is just EVE's way of saying you are playing the game to the fullist |

So how many bs kills does Ginger have? I'd ask for a link to his killboard...but that would of course not be allowed since the fragile ego's of eve's PvP'ers can't be exposed to such data.
Sounds like a gauntlet was thrown down. I would love to see Verone pawn Shamis

I share this view. m0o used to scare the crap out me as a noob. As soon as I saw one in local it got my adrenalin kicking and I remember their excursions up in Yulai which I'd stay out of for fear of becoming a victim (this is long before I ever visited low sec).
I remember the first lvl4 missions I did after Exodus and some of the pirate missions even mentioned m0o as the 'infamous pirates' . I wish devs could put more of that stuff in because it's really exciting as a new player to see that notoriety can be recreated not only on forums.
As for pirates today. I'm not sure. I've been killed and been killed by many of the famous ones (S******dly, Veto, Turby's (famous?) etc.) and maybe the legend dies once you engage them. As for m0o: I never fought them but to me they'll always be uber
I remember Tank and Leeloo from the old days as being good. Haven't kept track lately.
As for Moo, with the exception of 3 members, they were nothing more than a bunch of gate campers with battleships.
Ask one of their old leaders about them losing 18 ships in one week, 5 of which were battleships to one guy in a kestral, at that goofy damn blockade they had going on caldari empire space (forgot name of system, hell that was 2-1/2 years ago.)(goota love the old kestral with mines and multiple afterburners).
That alt was alot of fun, made solely for screwing with their stupid blockade of newbie space.
I honestly don't remember the names of the three decent members i met from them, but they were all three part of group Moo had when they controlled the edo-0.0 passage.

You cannot label "the most dreaded pirate in eve", because such a person doesn't exist.
These threads are made mostly in hope of seeing ones own name here, thereby boosting their epeen.
There are several hundred thousand subscribers, and each have their own idea of who they'd least like to run into.
Personally, the only thing that makes me think twice about engaging is if the person is in a bigger ship, has backup en route or if I know for a fact that this person is superior to me!
So, don't put too much in these threads.
As to Tank, Daakkon, Verone, Ikvar, Ginger, and all the other aktive forum-people. Yes, they are mainly known because of their activities on forum, but they could also very well be superior to you if faced in a good 1on1.
There are many good players in eve, and there are equally great numbers of newbies and wannabes.
Oh, and for the whole thing about piracy is restricted to people who ransom and live their lives in low-sec - shut up please!
Piracy is exploting other people for your own benefit. Whether you suicide gank in high-sec, ransom in low-sec or go on a killing spree in 0.0, IT'S PIRACY!!
Piracy is dead, some say...I say, it's never flourished as it does now!
