And now for a sensible answer.....
From what I understand the game was removed from the shelves in SOME northern UK shops because of complaints to the Trading Standards Offices.
Dont know why the people that complained didnt just come here to do it |

I work at a netcafÚ in Denmark and we're dropping EVE from the machines because no one plays it. EVE will still be on the shelves though.
Maybe the reason is that EVE has too steep learning curves for most player groups, or maybe it's because EVE requires a credit card.

Still on the shelves in Sheffield.
I aways thought that Crucial Entertainment handled the EU distribution of EVE, and that SSI was the Canadain/US distributor

It has been taken off quite a few stores shelves round here. UK there have been loads of compalints about it becuase there has been loads of compliants from people that have bought the game and the game has not stated that it's a subscription based game. It only states that a internet connection is required

When I purchased my UK copy (4 weeks ago) from GAME it had a sticker over about 1/4 of the front stating clearly that you had to pay for subscription & listing the current prices (in $)

I have both a European and a US box, and it says on both that you'll require a credit card and a internet connection.

It was probably covered by the 50% off sticker. |

The clerk at the store should also tell that to the buyer when doing the bill, just to make sure. ____________________________________________

I think its the requirement for a credit card that causes a problem up north
BTW, Is broadband in Newcastle yet?

I'm thinking eventually Eve is gonna die if they don't work somethign out with their destributors to sell it online and get the entire thing via download.
Stores will only let the unsold boxes clutter up the shelves for so long. They will pull the boxes and your new players will slowly go away.
It's a global internet basesd game. You should be able to buy it anywhere on the globe though the internet.

I agree. Some kind of download would be the best thing all-round. Not sure what the technical problems with that would be though.

Down?! to $29? I paid $19 for mine 2 months ago, and I just saw copies in Target clearance priced at $12.
