While a lot of the underlying code work to make this happen is now complete, which should make the future ships easier to create in comparison, there's still plenty to be done and - excluding all other work required - our wonderful graphics team have been a bit busy recently.
In other news, the known issues are updated for today's build.

You have a quote that each destroyer has to wait for a whole release? There's no reason why they couldn't add those in a smaller patch. The player base made the choice as to what order the ships would be released, it was kinda implied that it would be one per release. If the ship you wanted didnt come out first next time work harder for your ahooce to be first.
On the other hand, the ship I wanted is coming out last :(

If you have a problem with the release schedule, you should have tried harder to gather the sleeper items on your preferred faction's behalf.
Or you can keep your self-entitled indignance to yourself and try to be pleased that we're getting such really nice new ships.
Or you can just go bugger off and create your own spaceship MMO. |

Also then swapped some stuff for 2 EANMs and a DCU later. After running some tests with switching modes, it looks like a mode behaves like a non-stacking-penalized module. That is, it applies full force after 2 modules affecting the same stat. And defensive mode does not interfere with DCU. So pretty much like Bastion. At least the numbers match.
Well, I know how the math works with the bonuses. But I was more interested on how they are expressed in the backend. CCPs usual method of assigning effects to modules and writing an expression seems to be off in this particular case, and I was hoping that they would comment.
For example, Propulsion Mode mode effects and attributes using modified Phobos and pyfa's itemDiff script:
[+] Amarr Tactical Destroyer Propulsion Mode [+|n] modeAgilityPostDiv [+|n] modeVelocityPostDiv [+] capacity: 0 [+] hp: 40.0 [+] mass: 100.0 [+] metaLevel: 0 [+] modeAgilityPostDiv: 1.5 [+] modeVelocityPostDiv: 0.6 [+] techLevel: 1.0 [+] volume: 5.0
Digging further, the effect "modeAgilityPostDiv" basically states to take this modules `agilityBonus` attribute and apply it as an operation to the current ship's `agility` attribute. The only problem is: this module does not have an `agilityBonus` attribute to apply. There are these other attributes: `modeAgilityPostDiv` and `modeVelocityPostDiv`, however the effects don't use them. The effects seem to be broken currently unless I'm completely missing something. |

Any update on if there will be changes to the pretty subtle differences visually between modes?
Otherwise I have to say I am un-impressed with the look of the ship, as mentioned earlier it might just be the textures not being correctly done with the new shader stuff, but it is a bland and boring looking ship, just a long pointy stick, a very bright bland looking long pointy stick.
I seriously hope better design choices are made for the other race's dessies. |

Lady Rift wrote:Only releasing one ship at a time isn't really an issue either, its a singular small class of ship. how long where we missing the ore freighter before they introduced it? Oh, right, you are trolling, because you cannot seriously be comparing ORE ships to ships produced by the main factions. ORE ships are by nature different to the four factions in that they fill a niche that given their nature as a nonviolent industrial corporation cannot be filled by any of the four empires who are far more concerned with military matters. The release of an ORE ship leaves no counterbalancing niche left unfilled because ORE ships do not have a competing faction. The empires have at best one and at worst three competing factions. Leaving a tactical niche unfilled is an awful idea, and doing it on purpose is a direct "screw you" to players.
And yes, I would still be making this sort of complaint if someone else had won. It doesn't matter who wins and who doesn't - it's a terrible idea and a direct insult to players.

ccp should do more of it just to get post like these.
OMG I can't wait the couple weeks till the other ships are out and eve has no other ships in the entire game. Its not as this think will be able to win every fight its a destroyer.
I liked the donation event more than live ones cause I cant make most live events in eve and the ones I have made it to where sub par if i could even get into the system it was happening in.
The donation drive was awesome in that it mixed things up and let everyone participate in it the fact they tied the release of a ship class to it is just gravy on top.
also fits with lore much better than all factions releasing the same size ships at the same time.

I'm plenty aware of EVE's lore and I agree that ships don't get released at the same time lore-wise.
While the Amarr very rarely have a new ship or any new technology before the other factions do, the Templar Project shows that sometimes they do. More usually, it plays out like this:
Caldari/Gallente develop something new, swiftly followed by the Gallente/Caldari who refuse to be outdone by their enemy. The Gallente share technology with the Minmatar or the Thukkers steal it/backroom deal it from the Caldari and it "mysteriously" ends up in Tribal Council hands, and so the Minmatar are generally third. Although they rankle at the idea that a race of slaves should have anything before they do, Amarrian society as a whole is extremely conservative and bitterly resistant to change, leaving them to generally develop new things last.
It's unfortunate that you think contests like this are terrible and "everyone is a winner, nobody loses" is the only way. It's laughable that you feel insulted by CCP's decision and I thank you for the amusement. As a paying customer myself, I can say with exactly zero trolling that I think CCP's idea to include some player participation in the introduction of new ships was splendid and ought to happen more often.
If you don't like it, I again invite you to create your own spaceship MMO where everything is completely fair for everyone (when was EVE ever fair, btw?) and nobody could ever possibly be insulted or pushed outside of their fluffy comfort zone.
If you're going to remain here in EVE, however, I strongly urge you to put on your big girl panties and HTFU. Not everyone wins, not everything is fair and being a paying customer does not make you a god, a person of influence or even a special snowflake. Get over it, get over yourself and get out of this thread.

I'm a bit surprised that you are so against it. Been a long time since lore/rp/live events had an effect on Eve as a game. Letting the community decide on the staggered release of a sleeper-related breakthrough was nice gesture of CCP. At the time of the research race it wasn't clear what it would be, only after it was revealed to be T3 destroyers. CCP even recognized the effort a 5th player-driven group put in to pull the research towards them.
Part of the reasoning of the staggered release was that they didn't had time to finish all 4 Tech 3 destroyers for Rhea, so either they all had to wait for a later release, or let the community decide which one to go for first.
In the end, community efforts lead to the release schedule of : Amarr - Minmatar - Caldari- Gallente. All in all, a fairly balanced release schedule. In the end, I didn't see an insult to paying customers, rather a gesture from CCP to allow us to choose who got the new tech first. Lorewise it's also neat, as now RP'ers got an additional schtick to hang on with.
They could have gone easely with *Here's spring/summmer (18 weeks wait), have new ships!* without doing anything around it. But they didn't, rather they choose an option that involved the eve community, an act I applaud them for.
Ready yourself! The second Luminaire Snowball Fight is coming!

The reason for this confusion is that the mode bonuses on the Confessor use a new way of authoring, storing and loading effects that we are planning to transition into more and more. The expressions you are reading for the modeAgilityPostDiv effect (and the other T3 mode effects) are junk data that aren't used by the client or server for these effects.
I'm talking to CCP Tuxford and CCP Foxfour about how we can start making these new effects visible to third party developers and we'll probably put something up in the dev communication channels once we have a plan figured out.
In the meantime feel free to ignore the expressions that you're seeing in those effects. Sorry about the confusion.

Asking people to commit a set of virtue implants (roughly 1.5 billion for a low grade and 2.5 for a mid grade), while flying a destroyer class ship with no cloak, no scanning bonus and worth 40 million isnt the smartest idea.
A 37.5% to a 70% (it's a combat scanning ship with no cloak) bonus to scanning would help a ton with it (tried it earlier with the mid slots filled with scanning mods and its a pain even to scan out a basic signature (actually failed to scan down a site, and anybody with eccm will be impossible to probe out with this combat prober, even with midslot scanning mods.

Not every ship is going to have everything you would ever want all in one package.
