After my last post about "Nerfing Webs" a lot of people that responded offered intriguing insight to the problems that changing webs would cause. Frigates of any type would be able to run amuk against larger vessels that were equipped ineffectively. I still firmly believe that webs are a "not good" game mechanic and are blandly restricting for the ship class, but simultaneously I think that the ship classes should be primarily used for scouting and preliminary engagements. Altering webs to be less restrictive would offer them too much power over the most drastic of the larger ship classes; so what if the small class of weapons did less damage to larger targets? Small weapons only doing a percentage of their overall damage to vessels with larger hulls/armor/shielding would make more sense theoretically, it would also allow some space for webs to be less restrictive on the ship class, without being too empowering to them. It could also precipitate some interesting changes for modules, ships, and game mechanics by possibly being able to add certain small vessels that could use medium sized guns, for reduced mobility, tank, and increased sig. Possibly a t2 destroyer variant, maybe a t3 destroyer variant. This kind of change could cause frigates that are not specialized for dealing with larger vessels to massively increase their manpower to handle one, or diversify their doctrine (and its effective costs) in order to effectively deal with them. This would also more than likely decrease the cost effectiveness of ganking in small inexpensive ships that deal way too much damage and serve little other purpose.
Don't rage too hard at me now, please suggestions and feedback would be appreciated.

Why?
I personally don't see there being a problem with larger, more expensive ships being swarmed by smaller ships. Likewise, I don't see a problem with larger ships having more options to deal with smaller ships either.
IMO... you are searching for solutions for a problem that doesn't exist. Frigates CAN take on larger ships. And overall, webs are fine as mechanic. You just need to pick your targets and fit your ships more specifically.
Change isn't bad, but it isn't always good. Sometimes, the oldest and most simple of things can be the most elegant and effective.

Against whom? When you do what you say - it will be either pilot large ships or don't undock. |

Let's put what you're suggesting into some working example.
A Typhoon Fleet Issue battleship shouldn't be webbed or scrammed effectively because it is 96,9 times heavier and 20 times bigger than t1 minmatar frigate slasher.
Sounds understandable unless I find out that;
An adult human being gets dizziness (web), muscle paralysis (scram), vomit (cargo eject), rapid heart rate (overheat), and difficulty at breathing (let's say being bumped, so cannot align) and lastly a painful death because of suffocation caused by musle paralysis, just because a Tetraodontidae (puffer fish) decided to tackle him/her. An average human being is about 3905 times bigger and countless times heavier than a small 17cm3 puffer fish.
Let's try and nerf puffer fish, because it is unfair them to do this much to single human being! Maybe it has too many mid slots O.o
_Half _the lies they tell about me **aren't **true.

On a long enough timeline, the life expectancy of everyone drops to zero.
