The fact is, the way Eve works right now if you have a good set of instas and a very fast ship you're not going to die unless you make a bad mistake. Solo PvP pretty much boils down to killing everything that can't fight back and running away from everything else, if you're good at running the ammount of effort needed to kill you is so huge that you can pretty much ignore the possibility of getting killed...
And yea yea, two seconds from now someone will be like "No way, I totally kill 1000 vagabonds every day in my Iteron, you just suck!" But trust me on this, if you know how to pick your fights, when to run, and when to log you are nearly untouchable in a fast ship.
Well, with the speed argument you're partly right. They can break camps and other lame "PvP" tactics, but they also can chase down your target, lock fast, get you a lot of podkills and allow for tactics you couldn't even imagine doing in your BS.
But you're insulting the small group of honest solo Pilots who, while fully aware of the situation, take stupid odds and not just gank people weaker than themself. I know there are a lot of people out there who prefer to log or run rather than take a challange, it doesn't hold truth for everyone. Don't speak english, just F5, F5, F5... |

Tech 1:
Frigate: Punisher (insane tankability) Cruiser: Thorax (Awsom DPS with Blasters) Battlecruiser: Ferox/brutix (Ferox: Good passive tank Brutix: Insane DPS with blasters) Battleship: Dominix ( ) (NOSdomi)
Tech 2:
Intercepter: Crow (Speed) Assault Frig: Ishkur (NOS + Drones = W1n) Heavy Assault Cruiser: Vagabond (Speed + Stabs) Recon ship: Curse (it sucks, litteraly!) Force Recon: Pilgrim (as above) Command Ship: Astarte (?)
Well thast my oppinions, a few could be argued over and as for command ship - I just dont know to be honest. ----- Move along, nothign to see here... |

Loving my Brutix for solo anything. Rock solid ship-bonused tank or ebil blaster gank. Or ditch the MWD for rails Pack the tech 2 drones to keep the heat on when you're jammed, or swap them out for neutralizers, ECM, webber drones...
Ishkur is my favourite AF. Twin NOS to keep the tank going, 2x med and 3x light drones for damage. I'd love a 4th low for a damage control but we can't have everthing

Uhmm.. shield tank sustained by NOS with WCS in lows and drones as DPS?.. Just guessing
What would you say, if I said I have a killer setup for lachesis which can take care of 5-7 close range HACs/BSs at the same time, solo? Guess we all have our secret setups
lol u must be joking, max compensation energized adaptive base armor tank. you will have no problem tanking most things that are hitting you if your doing things right and the few things that you wont consist of th raven, the raven, and er the raven.
bearing in mind by solo pvp im assuming your not gona be engaging 3+hacs or worse alone. infact if it's zealots feel free to engage 3 of em at once.

Won't help you unless you drop the vaga's lock range below 15km. In that case the vaga just runs and you will not catch up to it. And don't say you'll kill it before it leaves scram range, vaga can cover 60km in the time it takes you to get off a few volleys. (Assuming you have a domi disruptor to go with that web and the vaga isn't stabbed)
As for slow ships though, lachesis is excellent at killing them I agree.

Unless you're very unskilled, dropping the vaga's lock range below even 10kms shouldnt be a problem.
If the vaga runs then you win.
Domi disruptor isnt needed imho.

With max skills one a gal ecm cruiser 1 t2 SD will reduce it's target to 25%, 2 to 10% and 3 to 5% of it's original locking range.
Just *1* damperner will reduce the vage to just over 15 km locking range (assuming it has long range targeting maxxed).

In my humble opinion, gallente ships are the best for PVP.
1. Dominix/Ishtar: Dos + ECM + drones is never a bad idea. Tragically, the Ishtar is so expensive. 2. Thorax/Brutix/Deimos: Great in-your-face, too-close-to-hit, massive damage ships. 3. Curse/Pilgrim: Insane nos abilities. Might take a while tp bring your prey down but still a fearsome ship. ___________

now ive got skills up my list are as follows (cheapest first) 1. Vexor (t2 fitted with t2 drones)my fave atm 2.ishkur (not used yet but i know af are hard and this one gets some huge drone bonus') 3. Ishtar (not fly one yet but in a few months i hope to have one and it should be uber)
solo in last 2 months i got 15 kill mails and bout 7 are myself, mainly because i made some silly mistake. like wasting cap getting to a real pirate, only to have my ass handed to me. or the last time after takin out a cal cruiser a raven warped to me

To be honest, that group of PvPers that doesn't just atack stuff that's a certain kill and basicly be completly impossible to kill for everything else is so small that I have never met one.
Right now Solo PvPing basicly just consits of ganking people who never had a chance while sitting in a ship that's built for being completly untouchable by anything else...

That was almost exactly what I was about to type. Whether Pilgrim or Curse is better though, I can't say - I haven't flown them yet. 24 days until I can :)
Also, in order, I'd place Domi above the Vagabond in terms of what's best, but that's a really tough decision to make.
Also note that of those ships, other than the Vagabond (which is slightly abhorrent as a ship) they're both nos/drone/EW boats. Other ships that would make this list in T2 would be Ishtar and Ishkur, in T1 would be Vexor and Arbitrator......note the common theme.

These threads always end up with a bunch of gallente ships and the Vagabond. Shouldnt there be ships from all races if the races were equally good?
I guess caldari & amarr is good in bigger groups though. All ships arent designed for solo pvp... alot of them are excellent support ships instead.

Solo PvP means being 20km away from the target so you can warp scramble it, so naturally ships designed for short range dominate solo PvP, and since Gallente are supposed to be the masters of short range... Well, you figure out the rest...

for solo PvP i would have to say the pilgrim, only because you can pick and choose every fight using the cov ops cloak... Makes this ship very hard to beat since you can sneak up to close ranges, and NOS/EW your enemy to its knees, then gank with drones :)
The only drawback I can think of to this is that sometimes drones take a little longer to kill things, so where a vagabond can very easily just ditch its targets with speed, if they have a target lock on you your cloak isnt going to work until the targets are neutralized, so it is imperitive to kill before reinforcements arrive.

Scorpions are quite nasty solo PvPers IMHO, you can completely lock down just about any ship with scorps bonuses, and if you can NOS them down 4 cruise missles launchers can be enough. Again one problem is that if 4 cruise missles arnt fast enough you can run into problems with reinfocements..

Yeah 2 NOS are enough to suck another BS dry. And scorp does insane amounts of damage! Oh yeah and we don't have a chance based ECM system so it'll always jam the other BS 100% of the time... Get real, damnit. No wonder forumwhiners are running amok, the amount of misinformation, misleading numbers and calculations is overhelming. Never been that bad actualy.
