Casey Ambraelle wrote:WOW just got off work and hopped onto SISI to check out the new map and very nice job. I really like how it shows the gate line to the gate in the connecting system and the abstract view, can't wait until scanning is added. 1. Please make the first line in the route (from gate) appear on space overlay too!
2. Make smooth transitions between grid view and solar map (star map) views. Like I press F12 and it zooms me out to the system level, then I press F12 again and it floats to the star map, then again - and alas! I'm on grid.
3. Show those 3D nebulas from overlay in full 3D on the space map too! Unfortunatelly I don't think they are properly aligned for this purpose. But when you do, make smooth transitions between interstellar jumps like for a system warp! It's gonna be soo cool!
Love new improvements and exited to see more in the future! |

Centurax makes some great points there. I would like to comment some.
[quote=Centurax]1) When using filters to find things like clone facilities, it would be helpful to have the station also highlighted so it is easier to find in a systems with multiple stations. (Having an option to show closest and have it set as destination would always be helpful).[\quote] Support.
[quote=Centurax]2) System summary when zoomed in on a system, how many people in it, how many jumps that day, how many in space/docked, kills in the last hour/day, always useful info to have.[\quote] I support more statistics info on a current system (in a top left corner there is a good place), BUT since this kind of info has a strategic value probably consider limiting it empire space and sovereignity holders only. Don't know about null sec but hiding this statistics for wormspace (as it is now) is a good idea and shouldn't be changed. For wormspace there is another kind of info that may present though:
[quote=Centurax]5) Information on WH systems could be displayed better, as you can get so much from Dotlan, it would be nice to get the same in game too, for example what effects are present in that system.[\quote] Effects and their impact on various properties, wormhole class and etc. (some bores will object there is a distinction in wormhole nebulas, but I don't see good reasons to conceal such an info and not to make it just clear).
Anyways, since local is available in k-space, there is a good reason to add a one line summary about number of people in the system (k-space only), how many corps, blues, reds and etc. This will just save me (and many other people) much screen space from keeping local chat always open.
[quote=Centurax]4) Show locations of Corp (hopefully one day Alliance) assets in space, from Secure Containers to Starbases, seeing the locations of them on a map would be helpful at times.[\quote] This one and the following are staying close together. [quote=Centurax]1) It doesn't need to have little models of ships flying around, color coded ship representations would be enough, e.g. white for neutrals, red for enemies, purple for fleet. This could be generated from what your scouts see and only what they can see.[\quote] Actually, there is an idea of a 3D magnifier tool, like the one with the same name found on Windows. You click on a celestial (with a friendly scout or POS) and a 3D space ball with a grid preview pops up while you hold the button. You rotate the view (while holding the button) and the the magnified ball rotates all around. Ships and everything is just coded with color dots there like Centurax suggests.
Other points about tactical map and chartered wormspace map are great too and I support them, but I won't stop on them except of one last thing. Since (and if everything is going to be implemented some shiny day) the wormspace connections map is going to be a very powerful strategic tool (in contrast to bookmarks and especially incorporated with route planning mechanisms) I am standing against immediate sharing of such an info with large groups of people (corp is the most, and maybe even that shouldn't be allowed). Actually it might add much to gameplay if there was an option to exchange such data on close contact. For instance, you may jetcan a so called local map databank into space (passworded or not) and your friend may grab it to merge the wormspace data into his computer. Hostiles may even use a data analyzer on the databank-can or even directly on you ( ) to break the PC and steal the data...
Also, a module for analyzing a wormhole sounds a good idea to me. I would say it shuold be a mid-slot scanner of some type. Only maybe it shouldn't give 100% results even with perfect skills, because wormspace must retain it's risks or it wouldn't be much fun.
Thanks everyone for reading and have a nice day!
