Wow.....Im scared now. Since Ive only been playing 2.5 months I dont think you will see me in low sec space anytime soon. BTW dictionary.com is your friend.
I wasnt saying what was done was wrong or whining about it, just that the way it went down was a little lame considering it being a mining barge that is basically not armed. Be that as it may....I guess he learned his lesson the hard way..........and me as well.....not to try and have a rational conversation in the playskool forums.

Now I know in 0.4 space this is allowed so no "rules" were broken but have a little class and tact if you wish to do this. It was a retriever for gods sake and its not like he was going to fire back. You want to kill him...fine but at least try some sort of communication first to at least give him a chance to try and pay his way out. And he was podded to boot.
Like I said it was fair game but you might as well just shot a guy in a wheelchair, in the back trying to get away.
Maybe they didn't want ISK, maybe they wanted to kill and sift through the remains?

meh, it happens... its pointless, all it does is ruin sombodys day for barely any gain.
I have a pirate alt, i dont attack anything smaller than a battlecruiser.
and then its only if the pilot is old enough to have a chance of carrying decent loot.
why waste security staus, ammo and 20 mins of time for a boring pointless gank. ----- Move along, nothign to see here... |

indeed. this is why people mining in low sec have a group of defending ships from their corp. if you want to solo mine in low sec, as trojanman said, wou WILL be attacked, now they should have ransomed your mate, but to be honest, they probably figured the money they'd get from the loot in his can would be far better and easier than ransoming your friend. next time tell him to have a mate or two in battleships to protect him. ========================================== Iy |

Coincidentally, we do this very thing all the time here in NYC.
Granted, here in the City - the guy in the wheelchair will shoot back...if he doesn't shoot first.

Im sorry know it all it was a corp member ok. So cough all you want. I was away at dinner and came back and read the chat. I was just trying to find out how people felt about the situation and how it is precived as game play goes. Just because I was not there does not mean I cant hold a rational discussion on the matter. I wasnt in WW2 does that mean I cant talk about it intelligently.....Oh and by the way sc43w you too.
Most of this community is way to childish to hold a rational dialogue and to the few that can I salute you.
Its done and over with....nothing more constructive can come out of this...Im moving on.

Is more childish the people that reply to this (useless) thread or the one that come and whine (=spam) on the forum crying "buhuu, i went in low-sec with a mining barge and they killed me, buhuu"?

hrm...I have yet to hold a single rational discussion with a rat or a roid before blasting it with my guns and mining lasers.
I see target, I point weapon/laser at it, I pull in ISK. The fact that it couldn't fight back, didn't stop me none.
why is your friend any different?

Did you friend give warning to that poor asteroid that was savagely torn apart by his strip miners? Did he try to ransom it first?
Anyways in all seriousness...why is a pirate not ransoming instantly lack of RP? Could the person not be RPing a killer? I mean just cause they are a pirate doesn't instantly put in a requirement that they must ransom you and it definately doesn't have a requirement to be fair. In fact I think the pirates were doing your friend a favor by helping him get out of the dangerous system and back to the safety of a station as quickly as possible.

As I post in all these "I got killed in low sec" threads: WHY THE **** WERE YOU MINING IN LOW SEC?
Everyone should know by now that the risk v. reward for low sec is completely ****** up. Either stay in hi sec or go straight to 0.0!

Welcome to EVE. This is a problem in eve imho. Defensless ships are some of the easiest to kill, should be the otherway around since they present such low threat levels.
also EVE is about e-thugs, travel in groups kill defensless and solo players beat your chest that you are a great pvp'er as only the hardcore can survive RAAAAAAAAAAAAR!
Big part of what hold EVE back from being a first class game, it caters to weak bully types, wait infact it grants total EZ mode to them.

Have to agree with author - anyone who attacks an unarmed ship is just plain lame- much less pod as well. Prolly 3 pimply kids without a brain between them. Takes no skill, no tactics, no brains & no risk to themselves [note: 3 vs 1]. Just stupid- could understand the ransom thing- thats cool or pay me to play on my turf or if they at war- that very good tatic to bleed resources of ur enemy. But other than that I say they should be reprocessed as they cannot be allowed to breed.

Eh... that's the second completely idiotic post i've seen by you, in 5 minutes.
Please, do us all a favor, and leave, You clearly do not know what EVE is about, and why it was designed the way it was.

Low sec mining in empire guide
1. Mine in a system that has very few people in or around. 2. Watch LOCAL! if anyone shows up esp if they have a -1 sec status, warp to station or safe. 3. Keep a PVP fitted battlecruiser around.

Good example of what mission running carebears do to EVE's forums. EVEN IF YOU ARE OUTNUMBERED AND HAVE NO GUNS, IT IS ALWAYS A FAIR FIGHT. This is EVE, not "Space Combat Sim 1". When you undocked in that retriever with no guns and no defense, THAT is when you fought against them, and THAT is when you lost. Also no ransoms are needed, it is called low sec PvP, I do it all the time, I do not ransom, and when ransomed, I don't pay.

Edited by: Loretta Tong on 08/09/2006 01:28:29 well, in a place without rules,
you have to expect the worst in people.
dont be surpised someone kills you..(heck, even in high sec.) just cause they can...
I got my frig poped once by a caracal when I was only carrying skillbooks in high sec..
whoop-di-do, they got me....just makes it that next time I move something from stations, I am putting it in a tanked Battleship. (and not stepping in 0.4 or below. )
about the E-thug thing that eve caters to, is true. those who say otherwise just believes in the non-exsistant notion of player justice...or have a conscience that they want to silence..
I mean.. how many players Pirates are there in Eve? compared to the players that take up the noble/altrusitic Police force roles? (anti-pirates that kill everybody doesnt count. and ISS/other major "peaceful" alliances charges isks for use of their space dont count either, the only example of it was TBB.. and TBB died. )
and even in the rookie help channel... there are TONS of new players asking how to be pirates...
(I miss the rookie help channel...anywho...)
I can say the amount is much more than those who aspire to be the "good guys" or industrial types.
But yeah, Stay out of low sec if you dont want to deal with the CS-BAM-headshot types...
if need minerals... buy them off the market, saves ya alot of frustation.
but hey, what do I know, I am only a newb small time frig manufacturer/mission runner...
one thing is for sure... is wayyyyyy easier to destory than to create in this game.
thats what makes it interesting. (for me anyways) to see how this community develops. |
