Edited by: Taurequis on 19/10/2003 00:26:49 So ive been training Gal Industrial for 35 days now, and only have ten to go. This huge amount of training was not an effort to beat David Blaines box trick but in the vain hope of getting something better then a Bestower.
So since my time is almost up i would like to restart the campaign to get the Iteron V upgraded a little.
In total it will be approaching two months training time in a skill i have not even used yet. As we all know that the bestower beats everything else hands down on the hauling front.
Come on devs gimmi some reward for training up for the only player ship in EVE that requires a level 5 skill. Boost the Iteron V.
Make it special.
Hell, just give it a bonus ability like every other ship in the game.

ummmmm........mammoth no.....iteron V......yes. if u give mamoth mroe bonus, might as well for iteron IV too then...but no1 says nething bout it.....so mamoth is good.....plus its just like a week to get indy 4. http://coldfusion.online-guild.com |

I agree that the rewards for training Iteron V are low.
Iteron V has a bigger cargo capacity but can't travel as fast and is about as agile as a pregnant woman on a Space Hopper.
I think it should get another 30m/s speed boost and an agility bonus based on the skill.

based on the skill, huh? Thought everyone had lvl 5. And I don't think it needs more speed either. Doesn't it have enough powergrid to fit 5 ABs? Get that acceleration control skill to 5 and you'll go fast as ****.

Acceleration 5 is a hefty amount of training in itself, dalman.
I have got Amarr indy at level 2 and with 4 decent expanders I have just over 9k cargo moving at 450m/s.
It only took a day to train too.

Mamoth is a lvl 4 indy that is worse than a lvl 2 indy (bestower), it has 5 med slots, and 3 low. The thing is you can only use 4 ABs in the med slots not enough power for more, unless you want to waste a low slot. Im a big iteron v fan and think it needs a boost, but the mamoth is definataly lacking.
My sugestions. Iteron: 10% more cargo Mamoth: 10% more cargo and 8 more pwrgrid.

Good suggestions so far. But lets just focus on the one thing most people agree on, how they should make the Iteron V better.
What should it special be?
I personally weant two. One for hauling and one for fleet support.
Maybe something in that direction.

I'd suggest everyone to try out the Caldari indies before you complain too much.
The only use of a Caldari indy is as a cheap EW ship for PvP

Not that I don't want my ship better (I'm a very proud owner of a Mk5 myself), but it already is better on almost every point that matters... (badgerII has more shield, cpu, and they all have more speed).
With resonable navigations skills and afterburners, I can haul over a thousand units of bist at over 450 m/s... OR get over 1800 m/s with about 3300 cargo.... Don't even have to worry about gate pirates anymore, since the shield is enough to keep 2 of em pounding at you while you creep to the gate...
oh, and 45 days (!)... damn... took me 27 (no implants)... did you train your learning skills up first?

Why waste so many days to train an indy skill? And people wonder why the world of eve can be boring...

Give it another turrent hardpoint. That would make the 30 days of training well worth it.

a extra turret and a skill bonus would be nice...
i dont mind the speed <it IS the biggest indi> same for the agility...
say the same 5%/level a bestower gets to cargo?

I think 5% per indy level should be universal to all indies.

i'm a seasoned iteron mk5 pilot. for a long time the iterons did not have a speical bonus from skill and recently they got one. 5% reduced warp cap costs. i feel arngy. the ship was already fantastic at warping and now i can fly 500 au jumps. well great there are no 500 au jumps that i need to hurdle so i'd rather ccp give the iteron a better more applicable bonus rather than see them buff the ship up. the iteron mk5 needs to clearly be the best industrial in the game to make it worth the train time.

Took me 26 days to train from Gallente Indy IV to V, and I'm quite happy so far.
Allowed me to make 52 jumps in about an hour, and force a blockade thanks to my MWD, saving my 3000m3 cargo from piracy.
I wonder an indy can do that but an Iteron Mark V (I really wonder, I don't know other indies).

This subject resurfaces every month or so. A couple points (in no particular order): 1) Training times for any lvl 3+ indy looks bad compared to a bestower. Bestower cost and capability is more like a lvl 3 or 4 indy. Only CCP can say why it's lvl 1. Nerfing bestower training requirements would be the logical answer to that arguement, not bumping up the capabilities of every lvl 2+ indy.
2) Rumours have been floated about some higher lvl skills (station construction?) requiring indy lvl 5 as a prereq. If that's so, then the Mk V would not be the only reason to train that high. So we wouldn't need to argue about how much better that ship needs to be to justify extra training time.
3) Gallente industrial skill should get a useful bonus. Nothing too silly though.
4) I think all these imbalances go back to when CCP (correctly IMHO) strictly tied ships to your char's race. So maybe Caldari industrials suck so much in an attempt to balance out their top-notch cruiser and frigate lines. Sticking with that approach would have made for some interesting dynamics, especially for the single-race corporations. Oh well.
ps - An extra turret? lol - I like how that was slipped in so innocently. Perhaps Mk V's should then come with AFK mining macros built into the Neocom interface.

I got my Iteron5 last night and was pleasantly surprised by it. It is not as nimble as the mk4 but didn't fly like the pig I expected it to.
Why not make the Gallente indy skill give 5% extra cap per level instead of just warp cap usage?
I can't see that it needs any other changes (5 extra powergrid would be nice but that would be greedy) as it is already the best indy in the game by miles.

You gallente need to stop complaining. With The thorax and megathron, you're easily the best miners and quite the deadly adversearies with combat drones. You want super cargo too? Forget it. Be glad with what you have. Want to see bad cargo space? Badger! Horrible ship!

Bah. The Iteron V is fine. The problem is and has always been the Iteron IV. You wouldn't be so irritated if you were considering ONLY the time it takes to train indy V, but since IV is useless you're only getting an upgrade 2 levels after the indy you can use in the meantime.
Iteon IV should have the slots and grid of Bestower and the cargo capacity of a lvl 4 Stower. Nuff said.
BW (who doesn't use any indy but a Bestower anymore, although there's a Mk III in the hanger for sentimental reasons...)

Wanna see the only indy in the game that can do a combat pickup in a 0.0 asteroid belt? Badger II. It's got the shields of a MWD-equipped Blackbird. Add in 2 loot grid boosters in the 2 low slots and you also have by far the best strenth/speed in the game. Only indy that can mount a warp stabilizer, 4 ABs and a shield booster all at once. And still enough cargo cap for 1 Giant can without expanders.

Maybe it'll be able to fit jump drives and need all that extra cap.

Reasons why Mark 5s Kick ass:
1.They have more cargo then a bestower with the right expanders even if the bestower pilot is at level 5. 2.They have more armor and shield of any other indy other then badger which gets ahead later on. 3.They look COOL 4.Bragging rights 5.lots of low slots/medium slots 6.high cap and Power grid 7.all of above =P

Pwah. Given todays rush among citizens to maximize the damage output on any vessel, this matters not. It only gives that Badger a few more seconds to ponder; "Why, oh why, did I arse myself to go on this run anyway?"
