Get you're facts straight you can even compare AO with EVE lagwise, the lag in AO is 500% higher than in EVE
And I played AO for 1 year

Is there a scheduled downtime on week-ends ( was there one today )? I either got on too late ( 7hrs after normal downtime ) or none of the asteroid belts regened in my system. I mined the last Kernite 2 hrs before the usual downtime time, there is none here now and I'm about to finish off the last of the viscous pyroxeres.
A Jita bypass would be nice. When I buy equipment with my Caldari alt, I usally have to travel through Jita. I once plotted a route around, manually, but it added 8 jumps. Adding connecting jumpgates to the adjacent systems would be a way to go. Like adding city bypasses on freeways.

bahaahhahahahahaha, that was a good one! nope, they arent reading any of this. hopefully they already know how bad the situation is and they are planning a solution. Hell, i can even settle for if they publicly realize how bad things have been for the past month or so and offer some kind of compensation for this mess. people say "you want 50cents for an hour loss?" well those hours actually add up and when we can play, the actual game experience is not great either.
So why are you playing? I mean, if you don't like the game, what's the point?

this is my new sig....so true this days.
since rmr EVE is going worse and worse, not because of the code or servers only, but because the improvments dont keep up with the new players = EVE is not playable today.
then...POS Wars do the rest, because also the ENDGAME is not playable.
We will see how it evolves, but my patience has a limit. No, i will not leave, but maybe put the accounts on a halt for some time.

Edited by: Flax Volcanus on 10/09/2006 21:30:46 /me dreams fondly of Cold War, when things generally worked as they should and lag was a three-letter word instead of four.
BTW, it sure would be nice if the thread-deleting mods could relo the other comments to the "official" thread when they decide to make one, instead of deleting everything. Wayward posts after the sticky is posted are one thing, but deleting pre-existing threads without consolidating the posts is just lazy-ass bull****. |

Originally by: Nez Perces The worst thing about all of this... and I mean the worsening lag across EVE, the server problems caused by Jita and the failure of the Dragon Code to improve things..... the worst thing is the failure of CCP to publicly acknowledge that there is a problem.
- Fleet battles are laggier than ever. - Jita and systems like it suffering from chronic overpopulation are affecting everybody else playing the game. - An increasing player base is compounding all these problems and makes things worse.
It would be nice if CCP devs explained what they think the problems are and how they plan to solve them.
Its common courtesy IMO and the failure to do so is making a lot of people a little angry.
Well said nez
I'm no server expert but as I look back on the problems we're having now compared to 2 months ago I'm inclined to try to look at what is different now as opposed to then. MICROSOFT!!! Whatever it is in that software can't handle the number of players on one server.
I'm sure CCP is doing everything they can to fix the problem and I'm sure they arn't blowing us off guys. Its bad for business. In the end its about profit.
Does CCP care about their loyal paying customers? Of course they do, but I don't think they'll explain to us whats going on untill they know what exactly going on in detail. Whats the point in saying "We know folks, just bear with us untill we figure this crap out". I mean, we know they know...

Flax Volcanus, I have to agree with you, Cold War wasn't perfect but it did seem better till just before RMR. Unless I am mistaken didn't RMR sort of promise better performance?
I know everyone is fed up, BUT spare a thought for the GM's online now, they pull a weekend stint and this happens, not a job i would relish today with all the problems we have had.

It was my understanding that the previous bookmark nerf was the prevent the database from degrading even further, not to fix the existing problem.
Previously the bookmark copying was using up all of the available itemid's which crashed the server. At least now the server shouldn't crash from that.
The problem is that you still have all those billions of bookmarks in the database. Untill they get rid of them or find a way to speed up the database performance, I don't see this lag clearing up anytime soon. Unless of course we delete the bookmarks ourselves.

Being miserable is unattractive and counterproductive.
No good will come if we do not back CCP in their efforts to resolve these issues.

I am backing them with my rl cash, 2 accounts, since july 2003.
Speaking about 'gaming experience' 2006 has been a pain in the ass (2005 was better than 2006) and it is still getting worse.
It should be about time to make it work as it should.
How?
I don't know, I am just a (very patient) peon who would like to enjoy the product that he is paying for. For how much I love this game there is still a limit to my patience.
Is this asking for too much?

P.S. CCP should light a candle to his Saint Protector and say 'Thank you for not making anyone else out there release a semi-decent sci-fi MMOG ! Might this continue for many years !!!'

The lag sucks.
The Dragon Code Sucks as its causing the lag.
The programmers at CCP suck as they wrote the Dragon Code.
We'd all prefer to go back to the old codebase, which worked very well, and maybe then I can have osme of my f***ing newbie courier agents back.
I think that about covers it.
Well said that man.
Just thought this needed reiterating so that hopefully someone at CCP will read it and realise they have a problem.
First thing they need to do is respond to the community and at the VERY LEAST say weather they have a problem or not (if they say not, they can kiss goodbye to most subscriptions lol).
Then they need to tell us if theyre actually going to try to fix it or not.
Until now CCP had a fairly good community relations reputation.
Remember CCP, it only takes one screw up and youll be remembered for it for a _LONG_ time.
I think this is illustrated by this old phrase:
"You can build a hundred bridges and suck one c**k and you'll always be remebered as being a c**k sucker."
Thats how you have to think of how online community relations works.
"You can make a hundred great patches and make one that sucks c**k and you'll always be remebered as being a c**k suckers."
Again, i think i made the point stand out. ^_^

- put a high tax in jita, both for sales/buys and for using gates - reduce it's sec to 0.4 - that will reduce lag quickly :D
Seriously: - Add hi-sec bypass of jita for travelers, make them default for auto-pilot - Add some good agents in other hi-sec systems - why the hell Motsu must have 300 people on local while neighbouring systems have 20? - Time to think about new underlying infrastructure, current one is not enough for player base. -- "Say yes to pron on Concord billboards" campaing. I just have to post.. Tried holding it in but I can't.
CCP. Can you PLEASE get off your arse and implement a REAL sql clustered back end. People in the enterprise world would fall over laughing at trying proces as many concurrent transactions on M$sql as you are doing. All the Kudos in the world to you guys on stretching it as far as you have, but its time to move to some big Iron.
Its easy. Pick up the phone, Call IBM (which you already have a partnership with) and Sun, give em the specs, let em quote the box to you. The ungodly amount you are paying for RAMSAN's (which TBH is another laughingstock item in the enterprise world... that should all be done in MEMORY in the damn SQL cluster) implies that you are ready for real hardware.
For the love of god ditch that ****ty SQL server and get a real one with a real multitasking/threaded OS.

Lag is back in komo, cannot use nos or tractor beam as the message pops up saying "cannot use x mod as you are x distance away from object"
Obviously I'm in range, otherwise I wouldn't bother trying to use the mod. Also it's taking up to 6 seconds for cans to open.
Lag spikes also seem to be affecting drones pretty badly, they seem to forget who their target is and go off of kiiling spree's of their own.
