This is PERFECT....
I really hope your metrics will end up showing that players are more likely to stay with EVE after having such a long time to grasp the learning curve!
I absolutely support this!!!!!
Just off the top of my head:
1- Make 30 day standard trial - Why - Cause EVE is freakin' hard for a theme park coddled mmo player to grasp.. the "Where's my avatar-syndrome" and all (thought thats now fixed. - the player has to have a chance to 'adjust'
2 - EVE is unique! We do things differently and have no MMO player counter part.... by doing something the rest of the industry doesn't do, it is free word of mouth marketing, that generates it's own hype.
3 - 60 Day trial should only come with an EVE expansion - like a special.
I don't see this program as a sign of weakness... I see it as a sign of 'vision'! |

If i want my buddy to play eve with me, I can:
a) Give him a 60 day trial account. Leave him with cold feet if he wants to fly industrials or anything larger than a cruiser.
b) Give him a buddy trial (30 days) and give him a plex (30 days). I keep the plex I get for turning him into a full account via the buddy system.
--> Provides my bro with 60 days of account time, doesn't cost me anything, and unlocks the account from day one. He can join a real corp, survive in a tough mission, use large guns, have a big e-peen, etc.
I guess this new 60 day trial is nice for people who don't have enough liquidity to play with plexes but I feel like option b is obtainable for most players (even if it means emptying their wallet and taking a small hit by hot-selling the plex in a trade hub). |

Ummm i do not think you will get subscribs from those with add everything takes so long in this game those with add will be soonest to discard it.
if they upgrade we still get our plex or game time right? |

Cynicism aside, I would be quite interested in the stats from this. In 6 months how many codes are consumed and how many of those get upgraded to paid and how many of those paid in $ instead of plexed.
Also people, this is a code. I'm pretty sure that makes this a 75 day trial as opposed to a 51 day paid. |

Where's your math in 75 days? They are giving 60 days for 350k. 350k is worth maybe 1 day. They are not giving you a plex at full activation that i can see. so they are giving 8 more days vs the 51 day deal. |

Two updates, one annoying and one pretty good.
When it came time to populate the 60 day trial codes for giveaway, we got an unexpected error that basically said GǣNope, not gonna give these codes todayGǪbut tomorrow looks good.Gǥ
So, weGÇÖre going to move their deployment to late EVE time tomorrow after they get one more pass through our QA processes. ItGÇÖs clear a lot of players are looking for them, and weGÇÖre sorry for the inconvenience, but weGÇÖd rather make sure that the core game fixes and deployments take priority today and send the codes tomorrow.
But the good news is that we are going to extend the availability of the CA-1 implants until the 5th. So, everyone with a paying account should be sure to get in and redeem theirs by then. I should again point out that this is CA-1 and itsGÇÖ part of an implant setGǪso more on that soon.

If a player refers a friend does he receive a PLEX when the 60 day trial account activates? Is it similar to the current Buddy Program, or a completely different system? |

This is in fact an expansion of the trial - a nine days expansion of it.
The only difference is, it says '60 days' on the box instead of the enigmatic 21 buddy + return PLEX combo a newbie would need to figure out the magical 51.
This is in fact either a very good or a meaningless act. I guess time will show which it is. |

I honestly pray to the gods for a success of this expansion.
I barely have time to play EVE but i keep my subscription up just to be amongst the elite group which are EVE players.
This game is awesome, I don't want it to die! And the sudden 'back to spaceships' movement scared me, because I was sure people behind Incarna had a plan. In case the 'back to spaceships' is also a blind shot I keep my fingers crossed really really hard.
And yeah - I have the trial and surely enough, there's no one around me with enough brains to comprehend the awesome that is EVE. I really really hope that these trials find their players! I even wrote in my letter to Santa, that I don't want any presents, just let the EVE 60d trials gather lots of lots of new players. |

Not happy, you screwed with game play, will not recommend that anyone spend 60 sec much less 60 days playing eve. If you are looking to find your way back, you didn't make it your still lost, I don't play eve because it is pretty, its about game play, so please stop tweeking or what ever you call it when you screw up the game, you are trying to creat balance where there should not be any, the game should be always influx, you should be throwing something new into the game, not sabotaging the customers. |

Good idea, especially seeing that people who would be into eve often have busy lives and can't stay glued to the screen for 14 days and explore/learn like they should.
I allready have a pretty good idea who I am going to punish with this.

Doesnt seems very useful. Current system allows anyone with active account to give out absolutely free 51 days accounts without trial limitations( as well as it allows various different scenarios ). And you can give up to 10 invites per month per account.
This promotion gives instead 60 days once per account - but with trial limits. It seems to me, that choice between 51 days without limits and 60 days with limits is pretty clear. |

I don't agree with the negative tone Fancy Jack takes, but he does have a point. This game should not be about everything being 'balanced', there should always be ships that excel at a certain role...but which ships excel should change from time to time to keep things interesting and fresh.
No one race should largely dominate PVP, nor should any race be essentially non-competitive. i.e. - In PVP; Minmatar and Gallente have been at the far ends of the 'effective' spectrum for far too long.
At the same time the metrics should be looked at for each individual ship to determine those ships that are not being used for their intended purpose (there are far too many of those; the Rokh as an example; it makes a decent mining ship....enough said.)
It would be much more interesting to see all of the vast variety of ships in EVE being flown more often. |
