Not sure if 60d trial is very useful; anyone actually playing the game will hit the "trial account ceiling" (of skills and ship types being unavailable) before 60d is up.
Naturally if you still keep any of the remaining days from the 60 days if you activate the account during the trial, it isn't that big of an issue but I recall having some issues with that with some previous EVE offer. Is that the case?

I would expect that most accounts won't be used 24/7 unless someone actually does get into EVE in a big way.

Interesting.
I would like to know if we get the plex if they subscribe after the 60 days are up as well.
But the trial restrictions really make 60 days more of a pain in the ass than a neat perk.
the 21 day trial runs into those blocks already. Three times that? People will rage quit.
Hopefully for you, they will rage buy instead. |

Since these are one off per existing EVE account, I feel that they should be free of the standard trial restrictions. However, there should be some sort of repercussions on the giver if the key ends up going to a bot or spammer or what have you. |

Reading between the lines yields the answer: No
So no you do not get a P.L.E.X if the person you gave the 60 day trial subscribes.

I definetly agree that extending the trial time is the right move. Not so sure about the skill training wall though. I mean, I was pretty anal even early on when I started with my skills, but I always had another level higher in weapons or navigation to fall back on.
Might even be better having more new players going more broad Ruski Frigates training. Especially with the new expansions and T1 applications.
But we do need at least a little incentive for inviting someone to 60-day as opposed to the alternative with plex. |

This is nice - EVE is very deep, and longer time to get involved should help a fair bit.
My only concern is that there doesn't seem to be a clean way (via the API or other means) to determine if a player/account is no longer a trial.
At present, we have to restrict access to things like hangars for newer players simply because we can't determine if they are trial character or not, and therefore could be discarded/biomassed after they manage to pull off a theft.
I suppose we could look for skills which are only trainable by non-trials, but that's not all that simple unless you automate it all.
Also (slightly off topic), but since the new customisable API keys were added, there's not even a unique identifier in the API any more for an account (barring the creation time, which is not actually unique), which means that someone could abuse one of these 60 day accounts against the same corp over and over.

why would players take this option over the 21 day and 30 day plex activation timer? its 9 days difference but once activated you lose all the trial restrictions.
new players cant get this any other way except through someone they know and someone they know will tell them to take the 21day+ plex option.

Day 8: *Opens wallet* Wow... a million isk. I am a badass!
Day 14: *Opens wallet* WOOT! 30 million isk! *buys Battlecruiser skillbook* Then learns that he/she is actually still a trial, just a hilariously extended trial account.
Day 15: "Well, my Moa isn't all that great, and my Cormorant got blown up in an asteroid belt. Now what?"
Day 16: "I just spent two weeks of my life training to be the best capsuleer ever, and my ships aren't all that nice."
Day 17: "Hmm, I hear in the Rookie Help chat that the Rifter and Thrasher are really nice, whatever those are."
Day 18: "Minmatar frigate level 3 is training, I can almost fly a Rifter. How can Minmatar ships be space flight capable and so rusty at the same time?"
Day 19: "This has happened to me earlier, but my ship just flashed and I turned into an egg! Did I level up or something?"
Day 20: "Well, since the Moa isn't all that great, I think I'll sell it. I need isk for Minmatar Cruiser skillbook."
Day 24: "Wow, this ship is pretty nice. I'm not sure why Minmatar named their ships after such violent acts. However I do like this Rupture."
Day 30: "Wow, what now? Apparently I'm off limits to Battlecruisers. This Rupture is nice, but sorta slow for what I do. Has it really been a month since I started playing?"
Day 31: "I found a place called Jita today, I'm not even fully sure what it is, but it seems that there are so many people here that the police don't function. I seen someone in an evil looking ship attack another person in a pod on the stargate. I'm really scared for my life. I warped to each station in the solar system, and one of them had hundreds of players outside!"
Day 32: "I sit on a stargate in Jita, watching the passerby and thinking about my future in this game. Suddenly, a yellow ship of massive size flies in next to me and about a dozen other players. This yellow ship somehow attacked me, and all of those people at the same time. My ship flashed and I was back in that egg thing. The yellow monstrosity then attacked my new egg-ship, which somehow teleported me to where I was born. Was that some sort of Game Master trick?"
Day 33: "I hadn't noticed until today, but one of my chat channels is missing. I think it was Rookie Help channel. Now I feel truly alone in this game. The person that brought me here... I told him that I could handle this on my own, without his help. This EVE game is unlike any other I've ever seen."
Day 35: "I learned that it was not a Game Master trick that sent me back to where it all began, that giant ship, aptly named "Armageddon" had killed my capsule. Why would anyone do such a thing? I am the innocent, I haven't been here long enough for someone to dislike me."
Day 36: "I'm not sure what to do now, I've been playing for barely over a month and I have nothing to really show for it."
Day 37: "Exams are near, I must study for them. Perhaps after they're finished I'll look into this game further"

CCP, an 81 day long trial is just too long. The old 21 day rule was like "Upgrade and have better ships, or gtfo."
I can only see this being good for people who are close to the person that invites them, otherwise this will be used for gank alts 
Eighty one days is just too long to be stuck in the limbo of Trial Account-hood.

OK, interesting Idea.. but I checked my account management pages and cannot find any such link on where to get the code to give my 'friend' to start the 60 day trial.. any clues where it might be? I think it is past 1200, but now that I check again, the note now says 'later today'.. well, I guess I will just check 'later'. |

This would be awesome, And id use it instantly. However.. There isnt a bloody link anywhere in account management, Why not just wait the few hours and confirm its active on the site before realeasing the dev blog :/.
Is the few extra hours of publicity on it really worth that much? |

Step 2 join corp.
Step 3 scam them out of codes and thrashers
Step 4 kill everyone in the corp as many times as they will let you.
Step 5 biomass and start over.

How many of these do you think will be used legitimately? Do people actually still invite real people into eve? Do the marketing drones even play eve? How do they not understand what a big group of sociopaths eve'ers are? |
