I have to laugh, after just discovering the "new" map options (haven't been in the game since just after beta), seeing that there is some pretty serious/nasty pod destruction going on in Sarus Prime (looking on the map). No doubt it involves gate camping and the jump-in exploit.
Anyone know who the culprits are?

Yeah we have chased em out a few times but we are not a big enuff corp to have 24hr protection on the system...
TBH all it needs is a regular patrol of 3 battleships as the pirates run at the slightest sign of opposition!

Camping the Jump in point is not a exploit, ask GM white yourself. As for the pie message, you are completly wrong there. We run when you guys double our numbers, you wont ever fight a even fight. ---

yes, it is tank and his crew camping the jump in spot, no it is not an exploit. yes they've been squishing pods in alarming numbers at the amarr-sarum jumpin almost every day for the last month. Yes it is very disturbing since sarum prime is one jump/right next door to the amarr home noob system (via superhighway).
we would be pleased to join with other corps to help patrol that system. it is kinda embarassing in fact that so much carnage can be allowed to happen every day right next to highsec space. amarr based corps should help police that system. tank is doing his job, we should rise to the challenge and do ours.

Jump in points are not working as intended. Camping jump in points that are not working as intended would be exploiting that flaw. Therefore it is an exploit abeit not one that CCP much cares about it seems.

Sorry, but its not an exploit, period. Although these bastards got me, its no use making a petition about it because it simply isn't an exploit.
Maybe i should be more like DREAMWORKS and say "If i can't kill you, i'll petition you" . . . Nah.

Those who whine about jump-in camping should get their act and brains together instead of explaining away their own stupidity on jump-in points not working as intended. How about for once jumping in using several battleships? Is that too difficult?...especially after seeing the number of podkills. I admire carebears who can coordinate their efforts. I pity those who are incapable of doing so... you'll continue to end up in Tank's hangar as frozen bodies ;)

Please edit your post and add "IMHO" to the above line.It might be your opinion that its an exploit, when in fact CCP has cleary stated it isn't.
MMORPG's are forever evolving, so although this feature might be subject to future change (like everything in eve. .) that does not mean its in any way, shape or form an exploit now.

Edited by: Daemun Khanid on 23/10/2003 07:08:00 One Sarum Prime pirate lost his BS tonight. Merckiller. And you, your raven, and any other pirate found in any system in Amarr space will eventually meet the same fate. Have a nice night Tank, sleep easy.

I like that: "just jump in with 3 battleships". I've got a blooming rifter and am a week away from a tiny cruiser. I'm not jumping anywhere atm!
I thought the lag jump-in time was an exploit, not the gate camping itself.

Edited by: Slinky Redfoot on 23/10/2003 09:56:31 I've been online since Pirate BBS's, baud modems and 20mb hdd's.. *waves to all the fellow newsgroup lurkers* Remember the good old days, sitting in front of the computer swapping 200 odd 5.25" floppy's and hitting the Y key.
Anyway to the point, lag happens.Drones, Missles, Cans, Wingmen; they all cause lag to a certain extend.Hell we got *******s now who think its funny to spell their names out in anchored containers, or in 0.0 belts/gates to get me killed. And these people are not pirates either.I've lost 2 ships so far because of bad warp in points w/anchored containers.Normally if you warp in with 3 40-50k sancha spawns on your ass, you can hit MWD and "GTFO"
Anchored cans lasting FOR ALL ETERNITY is just crazy.Tie it in with the Anchoring skill, so lvl1 anchoring gives two weeks of anchor-age, and lvl5 three months.

Shame that Pirates can't accept ill-feeling towards gate campers is also part of the game.

There is a discernable difference between a Pirate and a Player Killer. The problem here is that not enough people realise that.
The funny part is that Pirates know the difference whilst Player Killers do not.
I will leave the reader to judge who the psychopaths in the game are..... |

How many pirates are out there? More than non-pirates pc? If pirates can get together and kill ppl, why is non-pirates are not able to form big corp and big alliance to kick their asses? Dont tell me that non-pirates are outnumbered.

Kinda hard to kill the Pirates if they camp jump-in points yet run like hell when something _does_ break through the blockade.
Running away: "Tactics" when used by Pirates, "Carebearism" when used by anyone else.

I believe so.
I've done a fair bit of jumping between Tash-Murkon, Amarr and Ethernity...looks as if I land in the same place each time.
Can't say for definite, though.

What irritates me about this situation is from a roleplaying/realistic viewpoint. (At this point ya'll can take that "Carebear" **** and shove it). For those of us trying to get immersed in the storyline and other facets of the game, the mere fact that such an operation can be mounted AND SUSTAINED over any lengh of time in one of the home systems of a major House, especially the most militant one, is extremely jarring.
In any sane and serious rendering of this game, such a system should be so heavily garrisonned and patrolled by the Amarr Navy, and House Sarum private forces that any unauthorized activity should be observed and INSTANTLY met with overwhelming force. ESPECIALLY at the Jumpgate to/from the Amarr system itself! CEO The Cinnaban Order "Dedicated to a Free Minmatar Republic" |

Camping jump in points is legal and acceptable for now. Once the devs change things around it may become harder or impossible, but still legal and acceptable.
Does losing your ship under any circumstances blow? Yes Does losing your ship b4 you even had a chance to take action blow? Yes Something blowing doesnt make it wrong though..
