I am pretty new to all this EVE stuff. However I was told to do these sister of EVE arks because they are good for a person of my skill level and all that.
I found the place I needed to be and began to run these "missions". I get my first mission and I splat the first few ships pretty easy. I go to see what modules dropped off their ships and was very surprised. There was nothing in the can at all. Nothing . I get a cruiser that spawns and I go to work, he takes awhile to kill, but I got him! I hurry to the cargo wreck and there is something in it! ... a metal scrap. One single metal scrap, from a cruiser. that sucks.
Why in this game, I kill a player ship and I get chance at the loot he has fitted. It's happen chance, but I get some of the fit (unless not fitted). These ships fired n me, they are using modules, however nothing ever drops? Is this intended or are the NPC not fitted, or have 5% chance of module drop?
Why are NPC ships not more like player ships when exploded? There should be a decent chance at loot droping even if it's tech I stuff. This is terrible, has it always been this bad in NPC areas? Just turned off.

Well, maybe for people that have played a long time this hunting of others is so easy.
Player fitted ships have a chance of dropping a lot better stuff. Tech II, dead space etc. As far as I can tell, NPC never drop tech II, only few drop dead space or "officer" type of modules.
Why don't the NPC at least drop some stuff for us new pilots? Save us from spending 1 mil on mod, because someone has seeded a bad market(yes let me travel through ganking high sec 7 jumps for save 500k on a module, takes shorter time to get isk on mission).
It just seems to be a really bad mission system, with worse payout. Then no chance to get loot and maybe try out fittings on your ship. Dum. |

Many people have found reasons to hate The Loot Fairy in both PVP and PVE situations. |

ooookay...
I guess this has something to due with the fact the NPC loot drops are horrible. That they in no way seem to represent the NPC that we fight in game. I think something needs to be looked and improved, many people that want to try out EVE use this type of stuffs as their first huge interaction. #tinfoilhatbakon |

Just wait until you start slaughtering them 'en masse. On some lvl4 missions, you will kill something like 50-100 ships of various sizes. Depending on what faction those ships are from, they might hardly have any loot or they all have loot, and if you're lucky you might even get a few decent drops in a hauler full. At that point the only thing loot is good for is to refine, and that's only because very little of it is worth putting on your ship.
If you want (comparatively) good loot, you have to go to nullsec and run anoms, or do nullsec exploration sites. |

If you want to get something from every single NPC you kill, train up salvaging and bring one with you on your missions if you can. Not saying that it's great, but it'll give ya something. And some salvage can be worth a pretty penny too. |

The funny thing is that once trolls post legitimate stuff they are only trolling themselves.
In that case I happily retreat. ^_^
I'd love to share the hints of this one, but at some point it makes no sense anymore to teach trolls.
There are a lot of inconsistencies and I wrote parts of it down.
I do wish for trolls to actually challenge me, btw.
In the end, ISDs decide and that's a good thing.

I have no clue what your on about...
Yes waste the ISD's time, for what.... good luck with your hunt?
The facts I can see is the NPC is very far from what the content in EVE 'pushes" you too? incentive one put it, to fight real ships etc.
Missions are one of the first if not thee first content given to new players, why don't we boost their motives for killing other things. Not dry them out with no loot, except the loot we give them. Would it hurt that bad for the npc to drop tech I stuff, not even named?
I just think it's terrible system, fine I don't want 100 npc, give me 5 harder to kill, but drop loot worth having. The answer is to go to 0.0 and run some complex site that is 10/10 maze or something? Terrible for new players to learn, all I am saying. |

What is confusing is people acting like this system is not broken some. Seriously these drops are good for new players, or player in general. This terrible NPC hunting, missions and loot is good for this game?
There is just enough old players that don't care what entry is like to the game, or what it was once like? NPC drops are just bad. |

The reason why NPCs drop crappy loot ... ... is because people flooding the markets with it.
Lootdrops are a considerable amount of minerals generated.
If NPCs started dropping better loot, it would influence the economy too much.
This has nothing to do with new players ... ... but with preventing older players from farming masses.
If NPCs dropped t2 stuff in highsec, it would not only crash the prices ... ... it would also remove any incentive to build it.
For better lootdrops head to low or nullsec.
The new player argument does not apply at all.

You also have to remember the loot drop tables were created for a time when meta loot was the only thing out there, T2 modules hadnt been seeded in game. Now loot tables have been adjusted as well over the years, mostly down in terms of value and output as more and more ppl are in the game farming loot.
In the epic arcs the loot isnt what you should be doing the arcs for and so the majority of the reward itself isnt in the loot there. Look elsewhere for better drops and loot.
Just be thankful that its not the old loot tables where frigs would drop BS class loot all the time and that its a much more rounded loot drop table, if albeit a bit skint one one now.
Strength isnt measured in numbers but in force of will. For if one motived willful individual stands many will fall around him that are weak.

I may be naive here because I don't mission, but I thought the value in the missions, like the SOE in particular, came from the loyalty points, not loot from the rats.
Once you build up enough loyalty poiints to access good things in the LP Store, you can sell those on the market and make very good ISK.
So I thought running missions quickly and not worrying about loot/salvage provided the best income overall.
Could be totally wrong though.

OP,
you have to remember the epic arc is not just for newbs, so the loot fairy isnt going to be too generous. Loot is the 'chocolate box' bonus in most missions - you never know what you are going to get! Its not the main reason for missioning. If easy missions gave good loot what would be the point of progressing to harder more rewarding missions? I have found the loot gets better as you go up the mission scale, from arc, to level 1, 2, 3, 4, exploration sites. . . . . . .
Price is important too. If the good loot is too common, it no longer is seen as good loot, it just becomes the norm, and then the market crashes. There needs to be some 'intrinsic' value in working through the difficulty levels.
While it might be nice, to have a single random loot reward applied to Dagan on the arc end, a problem is encountered - You, see the arc as a newb thing, but i know a lot of experienced players who run the arc a couple of times a year for the faction gain, allowing them to shoot opposing faction ships in regular missions. If you start giving nice loot out to everyone doing the arc, then same problem occurs as above - good becomes normal, price crashes, no incentives.
On running the arc myself, I found salvaging to be much more rewarding than the loot - it roughly doubled the return on the arc, tho it takes longer to complete than without taking salvage - more investment (time) greater reward.
Having said that, if you think the loot fairy can be fickle, she can be a good fairy compared to the wicked witch of salvage!!

I get that its very chance to see what drops. Just like in player vs player battles and kills. Sometimes, no plex drop out of 80 plex in a ship. This I understand and though I might not agree with the total mechanics I understand it's reason.
However, allowing NPC to have proper drops is not going to mess up the entire system. Giving a new player or other wise modules to actually fit a ship would be a huge help, this is much more helpful to the new player of course.
They have burner missions that pose a challenge to a solo player even in a good ship, so why not turn up the level of missions with less rat, but more better loot. Nothing has to be game breaking, but I would rather spend 30 minutes on a mission with possible loot for my ship fit (not even super mods), I would rather have then 10 minutes and nothing to show except for mission rewards(terrible).
The arguments I hear are " oh the old people will not like it!", "people abuse this current system and will do so again" (what changes?), "it will rip the fabric of space and time too our player market", These are just terrible the sky is falling type of ideas.
It would not break the game to offer a little better NPC drops, or go through the system a bit and seed things differently. Allow for new players to be able to fit their ships, or experiment with different fits. Not spend all isk on a few mods or 3 hours trying to find a good priced fit out.

NPC's do drop good stuff though, my first month of play was done with about 60% of my mods picked off rats. I still use some Npc items because they're the only thing that fit.
The cheapest You're going to find mods are in jita, amarr, dodixi and whatever the minmatar hole is called, go to whichever is closest to you.

Are you salvaging the wrecks as well as looting modules? i found that the salvage was worth more than the loot for lv1 and some lv2 missions. Then use the ISK and buy what you actually need.
There are so many types of module there is no way other than the market to get the item you need without completely swamping you useless in loot. |
