Transparent, yet somewhat funny thread..
You're basically holding a public recital of something you already agreed to do when you joined.. ..to avoid association with the fools of your organization.
Personally, I'd much rather lynch the fools straight out of my alliance, than face the embarassment of declaring to the public that I'm one of 'the good ones'. I don't think that solves the internal conflict in any way. It just lets the public know that there is a conflict of intentions.
So uh, thanks for that, I guess? You've made Riddari's anti-propaganda propaganda even more entertaining.
The lesson is that "Guilt by Association" is powerful; if you fly under someone's leadership and they say silly things, you either change the leadership or change the group. Either way you make sure you get fair representation for what you truly believe in. It applies to EVE and it applies to real life. Doesn't matter what you say in the least.
But since we're pledging stuff - I pledge to feint surprise every time ASCN makes a silly. Cos it makes the drama better if I pretend a group of thousands would never act with dishonor. I also pledge to groinstab anyone in BoB who dares kick this mighty high horse I'm sitting on :]

Come on guys, let's just have fun while it lasts. Wars don't last forever. Lag lasts longer and we'll get it bad enough. Who wants more, considering you never know which way it's going to go? I'm also sure that GMs will now watch for it, so let's just drop it and Game On!

Yes indeedy, but wow.. the power of lynching prevails
Respect to XoPhyte for admitting he was wrong, many would prefer to keep digging a hole. But I shudder to think what kinda pressure you got before writing that.

Sorry, I dont have access to ASCN forums (never tried to get it) so can`t really assess the value of that small quote you give.
In fact, all I see there is a quote, supposedly made by CYVOK. Understand, as I don`t have access to their forums I can`t deny nor confirm what you wrote. Which leaves me at clear disadvantage and open to the possibility of writing something stupid, or worse, false.
Can you re-direct me to where that is posted? As I know, you cannot re-direct closed threads, just eve-mail me the web-page. If it`s the same stuff I think it is, was that not stuff AAA used, to which no one complained, and when later people in ASCN&AXE (dunno if AXE, guessing here) had the opportunity to use, it was founded out that there was no point (been on defensive blobs before, AAA just stayed in the other side of the gate, tried to log trap us, but we were happily un-tempted to move from the cozy gate)
So, to cut losses I`ll just say: No one in my corp and alliance has asked me to cheat (I would`t know how anyway) to gain advantage over others. I am blind enough I fail to comprehend there are cheaters on EvE? No. But I found it completely unfair that one group of players claim to have a higher moral ground just because it puts much more effort on infiltrating other forums, and much better at digging hearsays and internal talk.
If I have to be completely fair (and this will give me trouble), I think that both alliances ¿Forum Representatives¿ suck completely. Some of them seem really smart, and understand this is a game though. Cheers to them, and let me wish you all a good future in politics.
But, mainly, if wars were fought on the forums, both alliances would be dead by now.
I would like to continue the follow-up of this thread, but just been told that in 5 minutes I`m up, so have to go.

If certain elements in ASCN or BoB decides to use uncommen tactics a la lagboms etc, then accuse the ones who did it, not the whole alliance. Most of us are innocent to the bone and wants a fair fight.
I understand. Im sure you are right. There are probably alot of members in your alliance or perhaps whole corps who dont want to ruin their reputations or be associated with people who act this way.
However when it is members of your alliance leadership instructing their members to use these tactics the alliance as a whole is going to get the blame. Dont like it? Perhaps its time for new leadership.

the ones involved are the ones who lead you. Because they are corp/alliance leaders they speak for you. Dont like what they are saying? get new leadership.

It very much seems like you are trying to be fair here, its a shame that your efforts are wasted by the frankly crass posting of ASCN leadership...
When Cyvok or John Mcreedy (EDF CEO), deem it worthy of their time to respond to the accusations put to them, then the matter can be laid to rest.. till then ASCN will continue to be tainted by the brush of foul play.

Cool. As I seem to have a few more minutes before Zero Hour, I did.

Ok, I see the quote. But I can`t see where you got it. I mean, you saw this written there? Post 344, right? Who is this Truth1?
Any good lawyer could cut that quote by half, dig far on it, and take whatever one would want from it (not trying to convince you, as you are rock solid on your position, I am firm on my own: As long as I don`t cheat and I enjoy the game, I don`t care) --> Sounds cold, but it`s not intended to be.
Problem is that as long as ASCN has the amount of members it has, as long as the game enforces the ¿defend choke-point with a higher number of pilots than they have¿ nodes will crash. What CYVOK COULD be saying is that the crashing is inevitable. If I dig too much, I could say that.
You can`t ask ASCN to not show up in a fight so others can play smoothfully?
Err? I guess.
/emote checks EULA. /emote feels unclean.
Have I just given free legal advise? Who will pay me the $435?
Quick disclaimer: If I wrote somethign stupid, I`ll apolagize later. Burned too many bridges on my life to care much about a game, and burning one or two more will make no differance. But what I write now is heavily influenced of how nervous I am when the fricking bloody secretary should have called me 5 minutes ago and she has not yet!!!

Yes, transparency. Much like the vitreous comments that spill from your fingertips in this very thread.
I made no attempt to shame you. I merely pointed out the fact that you were wrong in your accusations. Whether you accept it or not, what you view as the intent of my post was .not the intent of my post.

... nope you were looking at the wrong post. The post I am referring to with Cyvok's admission that he would be prepared to crash nodes if engagements where not going his way due to poor server performance, can be found on p12 of The Pendulum thread, post 354..
when you have read that, then we can continue this delightful discourse...
The wording of Cyvok's response to the question put to him was very clear.... I am still hoping he will deem it worth his time to set the record straight and pledge that ASCN is not considering node crashing to be a valid battle tactic.

On my defense, I`ll just say you post too much , did not bothered to check if there was another post from you on the same page. Should have told me the number of the post in the previous post!
As I`m too frustrated with the lag and node crashes (No need for 600 peeps, 100 will do), CYVOK`s POV is understandable: ¿Whats the use of a war if you cannot even defend your space because of a stupid game mechanic and crappy hardware.¿
Anyway, though an AXE member, I don`t have to agree with the upper echelons of EvE. I`ll just play the game as I see fit (thus, whatever makes my adrenaline pump, is legal)
Would love to chit-chat a bit more, but seems the old cranky secretary took notice of my threats and will let me in shortly.

Where does it end?
* Lag is unfavorable for ASCN pilots ---> crash the node * The Queueing system kicks in for a particular system ----> crash the nodes * ASCN simply can't stand up to BoB in a straight fight ----> crash the node?
If you can't see the problem with this mindset, then you are simply beyond help.

OFFICIAL response on behalf of ASCN High Command and Directly from myself.
1) ASCN will NEVER condone or use EXPLOITS. -I have personally sent out EvE Mails making this VERY clear on about 20 separate occasions and all you spies out their KNOW this.
2) Lag is a function of old, overtaxed and outdated server hardware. ASCN will defend our territory with everything we have. If that means 600 ship ASCN fleets, so be it. If the server goes down it is not an Exploit.
3) If you catch ANY ASCN member using an exploit (especially BM's) a) Petition it and b) Prove it to me and I will kick them faster then Eris can lock a topic.
The attempts by the Anti-ASCN community to slander my Alliance, bend every post to their advantage and straight up invent B.S. to make us seem like the bad guys sickens me.
ASCN has ALWAYS conducted itself honorably and within the rules set by CCP. Beyond that we have ALWAYS fought against the use of so called "tactics" that are lame but that CCP refuses to label as exploits. On a great many occasions ASCN has gotten its butt royally kicked in Fleet Battles because we have refused to stoop to such tactics.
All I am hearing on this topic is basically the following: -If ASCN (and allies) but together defensive forces so large that the serves crash they are using an exploit.
ôHow dare ASCN defend its territory with the full force of their resources!!ö I am a firm believer in bringing a tank to sward fight.
The facts are simple. ASCN can bring more then 400 players to a battle if we wanted to. If the servers could handle it, the battle would be amazing, but they canÆt. ItÆs not our fault that we are doing the EXACT thing an Alliance is all about, working together. Their was a time when the serves could handle a 300 vs 300 fleet engagement with minimal lag, I have been involved in many.
So all you quake kiddies running around complaining about ASCN blobs, lag and unfair fights just cancel your accounts now because ASCN wonÆt stop fighting. Go back to your tank-rush-spawn-point-pk-head-shot-macroing in some pointless FPS.
The only way this problem is going to get solved is if CCP spend about 50M (RL) ISK to upgrade the hardware and cleans up all the dead and useless items in the DB. Slandering and accusing ASCN of exploits wont fix the problem.
I personally invite every employee of CCP/GM/DEV to watch every ASCN battle in person and log everything that happens. I guarantee we wonÆt be using anything even remotely resembling an Exploit.
To BoB: Good fight today. Was really looking to be a great slug fest until the nodes went down,à. both times.
-ASCN High Command-
PS, This is my last post in this topic. Drakma started a very good topic for ASCN and BoB members. As usual, I would like to thank the EvE Community for destroying it.

the problem is that by not taking action on me proving that your membercorp [OUT S] was ordering its members to exploit and to use the very same lame tactics that you say you dislike so much. you did nothing to them most likely because you were the one ordering the lag tactics to start with.
you did exactly what you now say that you would never do. i got nothing against ASCN at all if thats what you think, ive always had high thoughts about ASCN. but when you drag your alliance down to the same level as all other exploiters just because they do it then you are no better then they are.
why dont you sit with AAA and hold hands and sing kumbaya or something because you are just as good at cheating and exploiting as they are.
when i went public with this in the alliance ppl threw me threats and ****, totally the wrong attitude of peace loving non-exploiters who would be outraged at the ones doing the exploiting. but no-no, you try to shoot the messenger instead. sounds like some ppl didnt like their hand stuck in the cookiejar.
although i have to say that there was a few of the old time CLS like grimpak and a couple of others who had the right attitude and got ****ed at the ones exploiting, kudos and respect for that to those ppl for having a spine unlike the leadership of [OUT S] and the alliance leadership that condoned if not encouraged it as the leadership of [OUT S] claimed that cyvok had ordered them to perform these lame acts.
nuff said about this now, i sincerely hope that all exploiters get their alliance smashed to smitherines whatever alliance that may be.
