How many ships in one battle have you seen? Did it start out with just a few?
Lets hear your story.

This is way back in the day when Venal was the go to spot to take over, warp into system, fly to next gate, 50+ BS' waiting. Ouch.

Biggest I've been involved in was in H-W9TY (Tribute) in March.
Was ATUK, F-E, Kaos Vs G, IRON, Fate. and Celes.
Local peaked at well over 200, pretty much everyone was involved in the fight.
As expected it was a complete lagfest. Number of cans around the gate at the end of it.

all i remember is beeing gang warped and 30seconds later loading a station without seeing an enemy , this was a very long long time ago though

That takes distinction for the biggest camp I've ever been part of, as for fight, I really don't recall.

Biggest fleet battle.
Either the 150+ battle mentioned by a previous poster between stain and curse. I luckly did load....eventually and probably was one the the guys on the kill mails of guys who never loaded :P
Or the fleet battles between ASCN and G Alliance in AZN. I know some of the battles had decent numbers but I don't recall exact number so this could be smaller or bigger in size. Lag was deff a factor in those battles but again I was still able to load.....eventually :P

Edited by: Doc Brown on 04/10/2006 05:05:41 The biggest fleet battle that I remember being in was also a sweet tactical one.
It consisted of a 100 man SA fleet (Stain Alliance before the in-game alliance abilities) and another big corp (I forget the name) that had a fleet of 75 ships. These two fleets went up against a fleet of ~200 CA (Curse Alliance) ships.
What happened was the 100 man SA fleet faked like it would enter VOL- one way, but then switched and took a fast round about way via insta jumps. The other fleet then took up position where the SA fleet left. CA then put their 200 man fleet at the gate where they expected SA to jump in from. However, it was timed that both fleets entered VOL- from different directions at the same time (thanks to teamspeak and good planning). The effect was that the CA fleet suddenly had two groups of targets at two different ranges and eventually lost after a hard fought battle.
So that was about a ~400 ship fight back when CA and SA where still around and at war... (i.e.: old history for most people).
Not the biggest ever, but pretty damn big for the time and pretty sweet considering the tactical maneuvers.
(Note, the system the fight too place in might not be actually be VOL, I don't remember after all this time. It was a system in curse though) |

The Ec fight earlier this year in like march or april,it really did turn into a BoB/ASCN Camp since Iron,G,Razor and all their little cronies couldn't bring a fleet to do much more then cause the occasional annoyance.

Biggest PvP battle?
Easy, I was playing C&C Generals against my brother, we both used GLA, and since we both liked angry mobs, we ended up with about 500 or so units of them, and when we clashed in the middle of the map, it looked like a battlescene from Troy or Return of the King.
EVE-wise? maybe a 20-30 person fight. Small gang battles just seem more fun since it's not "Primary-boom".

The 1st week in H-W when TCF invaded Trbute has seen alsow battles involving +200 ships between TCF and Morsus Mihi + RZR.

UI might look slightly less sleek, atleast the scanner always worked like it was supposed to. Functionality > Sexyness, tbh.

I'd have to say the 9cg battle of BoB vs the Coalition of Dead Alliances (Imperium, Smash, SA, Vertigo Coalition, and a few more). each side had over 200 pilots, so that makes 400+. Biggest I've seen, at least. I'm surpised no one has mentioned this one yet...

First multi-alliance war I participate in out in Deklein this past summer. I think it was around 70-80ish vs 80-90ish or so, that was the biggest battle I can recall, occured in 3JN-9 I think..Was a lag fest, 3 bubbles on the gate, my poor laptop didn't respond at all for 2mins after I jumped into the system, half expected to get enough fps to see my Caracal pop and then wake in a clone vat.. Turned out no one layed a hand on me.. proceeded to help pop a few bubbles and... A Thron.. and later on some carrier drones.

The one in GW that made a node crash. They actually made an article in PC gamer about that battle. Topic was something like "the battle that broke the universe". This was Foundation/ushra'khan VS -V- and the five.

I remember that. :) IIRC it was somewhat of a milestone in node deaths. Also proof that the problem is not just a recent one.
More recently the biggest actual fight (not node death/camp/POS sitting) was probably in 9CG vs CODA forces, local at around 250 and mostly fighting. It was laggy as hell but the node held.

Biggest I was ever involved with was 9CG. Nothing like 250 vs 250 ships. Lag was horrendous but cool nontheless. Listening to Xirtam saying things like "Take that ********" after every bob kill we got was classic though! Was there 5 hours and only got on 3 lousy killmails the lag was so bad. Nothing like targetting 50 hostiles and clicking the F1-F8 keys and none of them firing for minutes on end.
