[61] Okey, soo I didn't know that ccp had decleard this as non-exploit problem. TO ME it still seems like an exploit. I also have a broadband connection (1mbit) and a fairly good computer, 1,5 years old. I'm no "newbie" in computer things so I can say that I don't have a computer that _should_ lagg. The problem is still as stated some posts above that the ships appear in space before it does at you own screen. I don't know how some of you cannot have this problem. I absolutely don't have anything against pirates or bounty hunters. I shouldn't even have opened my mouth if they had killed me when I was about to jump out or meet in space. BUT when I jump in and don't even have any chance of acting before I'm "half-dead" I think it sucks. Yes, I know it's the game and I accept it now, BUT again I hold it as an exploit. I've read many pirates saying it ain't easy to be a priate, and I believe you, but using technical "exploits" is just wrong. Foolink people to make misstakes and stuff like that is okey but still using technical.... nooo. Okey, so why don't I jump back and kill them myself? mmmm.. maybe because I can't! I don't have that ships and equipment needed todo that. There isn't many corps in the game that can go after pirates, unfortunately. I also agree that the problem is in the game structure and I don't have an own solution to that. Pirates are not know to live with honour, hell they are the opposite of it, but anyway I want to believe that some priates play "fair". Well, I'm not usually a whiner and I shall stop whining about this problem now. I leave it to ccp to fix and in the future I just have to start praying when jumping out and in. |

[67] If there were a way people could force others to battle without camping jump-in's, gates, or stations, they'd do it. It really isn't the player's fault. |

To use this flaw to kill people is an exploit pure and simple, but one that we will have to live with for a while I'm afraid. There are plenty of tools in the game to help you identify where people are exploiting this game flaw. It's fairly simple to avoid those areas. What isn't so simple is to get CCP to own up to the game flaw and fix the problem. Every online game that I have ever played has had this problem and to this day they still do so I assume that it's a difficult problem to resolve. Until then, I accept that it's going to be exploited by both Pirates and Pirate Hunters. I don't use autopilot when going through potentially dangerous areas, I listen to the local chatter, and I use my map. If I get caught, then I either wasn't paying attention or was unlucky enough to be one of the first players to jump after the pirates arrived. Keep your ship insured, your clone up to date, and take your lumps!! |

[71] I think anyone with an ounce of sense can see that it is an exploit, as it is EXPLOITING a technical flaw in the game. Lagging someone so bad at a jump-in that thier screen dosent load is obviously not an intended game mechanic. Also trying to take the blame away from the pirates who do this by saying its CCP's fault dosen't entirely make sense. YES CCP shouldn't have made it possible to allow lag to give people an advantage in the first place. But those that are doing this are knowingly making the choice to exploit the fact that people can jump in whislt still loading, thereby incapacitating them. And please dont give me this, "well if you don't like it do it to the pirates, and dont call it an exploit" crap, because I have been attemting to do this to pirates for the past two days now (for the irony alone Ok now ive got that out of the way, I would also like to say that I actually agree with the pirates who are saying that the introduction of sentry guns EVERWHERE in 0.5 - 1.0 space is over the top and is hurting pirating, and that pirating on a whole has been done a diservice. The reason why I am so concerned about these incidents of jump in point lagging, is because I want a fair and balanced game for everyone and that INCLUDES pirates. Before CCP finally introduced sentry guns at every single damn star-gate it was ten times better than what we have now. Pirates had the ability to pirate in some fairly high traffic areas, and people also had the chance to avoid them if they had the wits (or the will) to do so. So yes something needs to be done by CCP not only about the issue of jump-in lagging, but about the unfortunate situation pirating has been put in. Pirates should have a fair and balanced way of going about thier chosen career just as everyone else should. And it should'nt involve having to gank people at jump in points to do this. And I think we can all agree on that. I'm no "carebear", I think pirates are great Anyway hopefully CCP will balance the issue (eventually), and this will all be forgoten about. Then hopefully (LOL), we will all live in magical eve nirvarna where pirates can joyfully kill people all day long to rage against the machine, and "carebears" can AFK mine scordite all day long in 1.0 space (these are the people that I really dont inderstand) ,to the teletubies theme tune. ----------------- |

[75] Zarthan: 1. I have a 10mbit connection. 2. 1700mhz, 756mb ram, geeforce 3Ti Still at jumpin I was locked, webbed and jammed before my screen loaded. The thing that saved me that time was that all torps hitting the end of my ship actually put me out of range so my mwd could kick in and thus escape About the rest of this subject not addressed to anyone in particular; Is it fun to shoot at sitting ducks? If so, you must really be mentally retarded. Same goes for ALL that use this tactic. I have nothing against pirates, but call this hunting? Yeah right. They add some spice to the game, as all pvp does, but camping jumpin is NOT pvp, cause there is no player at "the other end" until you find your ship nearly destroyed and totally jammed. |

Or does this not work My Final question to all these people complaining about pirating is If you see a Pirate ship with a 20 mill bounty afk, crashed, or unable to defend himself would you shoot? let he who is not guilty cast the first stone |

[79] As I stated above, pvp add spice, without pirates in Eve it would be a helluva boring game. This does NOT include camping jumpins, since it would be impossible to label that as pvp. I'm not experianced in pvp, never lost a ship since I started this game. (Unless one to concord If they manage to hunt me down or supprise me they deserve it, which I doubt they would have much trouble with to begin with. Another way to go if one is looking for pvp (within empirespace) is corpwars. Same goes there, try to supprise your opponent or hunt him/her down. THEN it's pvp... |

I can say, from experience, if you are in CFS and you see pooti crashed and unable to defend himself, you kill him. And you know what? I'll say, "yeah, I CTD," but I'm not gonna whine about it. 'Cause I mean, I would do the same thing in his shoes. I've only had that one guy kill me while crashed, and he turned out to be pretty cool. So. It happens. |

[83] Oh, and the real reason for jump-in lag: it's the only way you can lock someone. If they're on autopilot, there is no timeframe to lock and warp jam, and if they're in empire space you can't get them at the gate either. If they have bookmarks, can't even get them at gates in 0.0. Which really rules out killing people as they travel. So, I don't think many people intend to kill someone while they're defenseless; they just wanna be able to get the fight. It sucks that it works that way, but, well, it works that way. And you can't point the finger at anyone in particular. I've seen every PVP group I've fought with or against do it. |

WRONG! The biggest online game is EverQuest, and with the exception of only a few servers, PvP is not allowed.
Only because EVE is lacking a bit of PvE... cuz lots of ppl don't get bored in non PvP games like EQ. About the Lag Camping Jump In Spots... shady subject... It's obviously wrong due an coding oversight of CCP (just like quitting yer Corp in the middle of a Corp War battle in empire systems), but the sheer numbers of cases are so big that CCP can't handle them all... so they plan to code the client to fix this flau... but as we all know, its hard to change code in a flash when lots of stuff are getting bugged left and right. This kind of stuff should have been detected in Beta and fixed then. |

[87] Well here is how I see the lag issues when aproaching a gate, or entering a system or etc. THink back to the castle era, where poeple would build walls and fortify themselves against raids and etc. And for an ary to take that position they would obviously need more firepower then that isnide the fortified castle. Now apply this to eve, the pirates or whatever have fortified they're position, you lag when entering the system which gives them a distinctive advantage, but they shoudl ahve it, they are the ones fortified. Anyways I am sure not everyone wants to look at it this way, but I do think it is reasonable for it to work this way. --- Sig --- We've all dealt with it. In-game customer support. You would think that by now game companies might start to clue into the fact that a player whose run into a problem is already in a bad mood. So why design a support system around just ****ing them off all the more? -Luke "Biscosity" Burkett |

Amen to all of this, but especially to the limited PvE options. The MOBs are dumber than a sack of hammers. Killing MOBs is only hard when they are uuber powerful, but figure out a tactic and they never adjust to it. If they had like 1/10th the intelligence of the old Quake 1 reaper bot, cops, convoys and NPC rats would be very interesting to play against. Plus why is it only cops get reinforcements? Seems dumb to me I can kill the same 5 Guristas for 5 hours. I'd think they either leave or send in a huge force to stomp me flat.... BW
