+1 to the very slow checking of the shared resource cache EVERY time I open the launcher followed by an unGodly slow time to the character selection screen. After the patch I actually watched the launcher cycle from "Launching" to "Play" three times because I sat so long I actually thought I was spacing out and forgot to press the "Play" button. Checking task manager revealed the truth. I had started EVE three times because it took so damn long for the first instance to make it to the character selection screen.
Before the patch: Launcher loads, verifies client, login, press play, character selection: takes about 30-45 seconds.
After the patch: Launcher loads, checks resource cache, login, wait, wait, wait, wait-for-it, wait, press play, wait, wait, wait some more, wait a little longer, character selection screen finally loads. 3 minutes +.
Then the new graphic as data is parsed YET AGAIN!
This one may have looked really good on paper but it's a failure in practice.
Watch the resource loading circle in station. ZZZ. Undock, watch the resource loading circle, zzz. Spin around and face the station, watch the resource loading circle. ZZZZZzzzzz... Rinse and repeat. If the resources are cached and don't change every millisecond then why do they need to be checked and/or loaded again and again? Simply spinning around outside the station shouldn't need to check the resource cache for updates again and again. |

I'm sorry for everybody who still has problems and hope these will be resolved soon :c I thankfully had no issues, despite (or because?) running Windows XP and thanks for the quick developer responses c:
But here is a little hope of mine that might come with the way they change to load things; Yes, I know it is offtopic, forgive me, but if we are already at the "download on demand" thing, then "pre-caching on demand" isn't far away in my head c:
I would LOVE to see a proper pre-caching function. When we press undock, for several seconds there happens nothing until we actually undock. I often notice, despite resource caching enabled, that the station model has still not finished loading while I am EXITING. So sometimes I don't even see the station for a couple of seconds still. Didn't I just load that station as I was docking? Why is it gone again? Can't we just get something that preloads and precaches the things which we are about to encounter as we are still in the "undock queue" ?
Same thing with "warping to". The moment we warp to an object, the game already knows where we are going to exit. Can't we get a way for the game to start precaching the objects waiting for us there in a certain priority list? Like, for example, if I warp to a gate. There is ALWAYS the gate, always the sentry guns, maybe police (if you are in highsec). Those can already be precached while we vroom vroom around in warp, unable to do anything. And then the game can proceed to load anything that is still there, on grid. Maybe the things not moving first, because they are likely to still be there? Or starting with the biggest ships first since they are still likely to be on grid as we arrive? I don't know, that is for you to decide. Or warping to a mission. The game already knows which NPCs and whatnot are present. It could load that while we are warping to it, making the transition smoother?
But it would greatly help to react to something instead of exiting and seeing a frozen screen for a bit, before one can actually react to what is happening. Especially in PvP, I can think this would be useful to streamline the process of exiting warp and entering fight? |

Without that checkbox it only downloads graphic items as you encounter them. Likely you were still missing 80 to 90% of graphics out of the thousands of EVE "things". |

Hi
I am having wont can only be described as a major issue.
I'm running on a Windows 7 machine
I downloaded the the on demand update and the main update yesterday through my launcher no problem. Then I was able to log in through the launcher and that was successful. The play button is active and when I click it, it changes to launching then after a couple of minutes it switches back to Play. I checked my task manager and I can see under processes the exefile.exe is there and running at a constant 65k of memory and CPU is 25. I have tried changing the priority of the process and still no response.
I tried it a couple of times and nothing has happened. I have deleted my install of the launcher and client and downloaded a fresh version and installed it. Everything went fine. Still having the same problem. I have ticked the box to get all resources and that has downloaded fine. I have tried clearing my cache and I have tried the repair tool and still nothing is working. I am getting absolutely no response from the client even though according to my task manager the process is running.
I submitted a tech support ticket yesterday about it and I included screenshots of the launcher and the task manager, but I have had no reply at all about this apart from the automated reply once it was submitted.
I am sorry if this problem has already been covered in this thread but I didn't see it anywhere.
So if anyone can offer any advice I would be very grateful.

How long have you been waiting for the client to come up? There could be a minute or two of delay before the client get enough of itself together to actually be up (this shouldn't be the case for the fully downloaded install). If you connection is slow it might even be longer than that.
Have you tried running it as administrator? |

Hello
Worst Patch experience ever.. totally disheartened after a week of work, on a Friday evening wondering WTF can you do to get this POS working.
Steps followed:
1) Run client as normal.. Download patch thrash hard drive unpacking some hopefully GOOD stuff 2) Restart launcher that shutdown after patch. 3) Log-in then launch game... Nothing!
Start looking at forums: 3) Download and run new Launcher as suggested 4) Run launcher.. 5) Await Launcher patching 6) Log-in 7) Launch game .. Nothing..
In all instances exefile.exe appears in process list and then terminates.
So what is next??

Miss-spelled.. sorry. Actually I've tried to download the full package with only the launcher running. Restarted the launcher after enabling the option, still without entering the client itself, and nothing happened. Bug? I think so. |

I've left it running for 5 minutes and nothing is happening. I'm running at 20 Mbps connection and as administrator and still nothing. I have even tried bypassing the launcher completely and going straight to the client executable but just get the exact same response. |

It was 30 mins before mine showed any indication of downloading and has been running for about 4 hours since then. It has been stuck at 99.4% for about the past 20 mins. |

That's what one would think. I still encounter the problem with the "resources loading" icon appearing every few seconds while in space. And there is no more resources I'd need. The launcher finished downloading all patch data.

Got 3 "socket closed " error in 2 hours , this evening. Then the launcher broke down, ( on start up, asking for 7.8 gg dowload). Started the game, with "exefile.exe" Everything working fine.
But launcher still, asking for 7.8/ gg download
Feature or bug ?
Loading 7.8 gg patch, while playing fine with 3 accounts ( well it's a bit "tidi" in delve since yesterday ^^ )

Everything was SOP before I was disconnected this afternoon. (State Side afternoon) Now...
I was lagging like crazy. So I did my usual, delete cache in CCP file, restart Launcher.
Then the snags arrived in multitude.
Launcher crapped out. Okies, download 'new and improved' Launcher from forum link of a Dev posting. Restart 'new and fixed really!' launcher, DL 7.68~Gigs. Okies, restart lancher. DL.... 7.68~gigs. Huh? Set options in launcher to just get it all over with, download all DoD info so I don't have to deal with the hitching and lag moments ingame.
Launcher icon on desktop poofta gone? Pull from CCP file the shortcut to launcher. Launch. Nope, error list out the wazoo. Sigh, uninstall game, suffer thru entire new download of client. Nope! CCP file eats itself but amount of space on HDD remains same as though it's still hiding somewhere. Fine, put back in "seriously, this launcher works!' again, download 3.~gigs, then 2.5~gigs, then launcher icon eats self again, rinse wash reload, launcher says there's nothing anywhere but the space from these 2-7 gig multiple downloads are still missing from total space available on HDD. No launcher icon will stay put, uninstall exe doesn't seem to be in any of these repeat downloads, and game will NOT launch from any location I attempt.
FINE....
A link to something that will strip ALL of Eve out of my computer so I can do a complete clean reinstall? Its in there somewhere, it won't work and it won't come out.
If I can't get some sort of tool or file that'll strip it out of all it's hidey holes it's scorched earth policy here. Format HDD, reinstall. I'd rather not be stuck with a computer doing mostly nothing but updating and reinstalling everything when there's 500 gigs of stoof on it...
I'm a computer hardware chick, not very software savvy, so please have the instructions in "Software for Dummies" terminology.
Don't make me link Iggy McStickson or something else I've saved to make the conversation irrelevant. I have bookmarks and I'm not afraid to use them.

Don't know if this belongs in here or General Scylla issues.
For years I have run multiple characters off a single install. Since DoD I have noticed the game is really slow to load, laggy and is using far more of my machines resources than it ever used to.
Yesterday I had 3 characters logged in, 1 in space just warping from system to system, the other 2 docked.
Minor issues, that occurred. Getting a black screen for 5 to 10 seconds each time I undock, (28k off the undock before the screen loaded was the furthest)
Extended periods between selection and activation of commands; such as, select gate, warp to and there is a pregnant pause before anything happens.
De-cloaking after jumping and re-entering warp to next way point, a few times I was halfway to the next gate before I could see anything other than the warp effect (my ship remained invisible even though I saw the de-cloak effect)
A couple of times my overview stayed as it was before I jumped - there was an Anshar and 2 proteus on the exit gate, that were still there once I jumped and the next jump indicated was the one I had just taken (24AU away). I watched the gate and saw all 3 jump in behind me, the overview then reset to the correct system as I aligned to the next gate.
The worst thing I noticed; When the ship I was using entered a new system or station, all 3 characters would have the "resources loading" icon active and CPU usage would jump up.
I used to run up to 11 characters at once, now my computer is struggling with 3, 2 of which are sitting in station.
Just for interest sake; AMD FX-4100 quad core @ 3.6 GHz 16 GB Corsair Ram Nvidia 750 ti X 2 (with 4 monitors) 256 GB SSD 3 TB HDD (with all Eve resources)
My opinions are mine.
If you don't like them or disagree with me that's OK.- - - - - -

Something is clearly broken somewhere :(
Every time I start to play eve it takes me about 2 to 3 mins from when I press play, to when I can actually get to the character selection screen.......
...... This was never the case before.
After the initial login (and wait 2 or 3 mins) when I flip toons or accounts, all is normal again.
I have two Box's I play eve on and BOTH are affected with the initial 2 to 3 min delay so it can't be a PC or Craptop issue.
Also, for some reason, we seem to have had mass dis-connects for two nights running now.
Can we please reverse this DOD thing, since I am sure that mass disconnects and really long login waits would put off new players more than waiting for a 13 gig download to complete.

If you are Windows and accessing the Launcher through an icon pinned to the taskbar - unpin the icon, delete it. Now access the Launcher through the install path. If that fixes it, setup a new pinned icon, but be aware that Windows keeps track of a version on the pinned icon (and apparently shadow copies the exe). That's where the problem is at.

I have one account, will never have more, so this is pretty ugly for me. It takes 30 seconds to show info on a character in local. Dragging items from one window (hangar) to another (container or cargo bay say) repositions the item in the same window or moves the first window. Between seconds to a minute to load things that used to be a flash. PVP is terrible. No socket closures since mid last year, now plagues of three in ten minutes at random times. Not even a high end pc. Concerned that checking the 'Download all resource files' will derp the launcher as it has for others in this thread. Any fix or is eve over?

I have totally forgotten to report this but;
Since the latest Scylla patch, loading the client upon first launch takes ridiculously long... like... up to 2 minutes. Loading times when booting the client at Scylla launch have been a bit increased, but it was not a big deal.
But now it takes forever and a day to load :c ... okay, 2 minutes, but hey... compared to before that IS forever and a day! |

After a further hour or two my launcher was still stuck at 99.4% (see my earlier post), so I killed it and restarted it. Expecting another long wait I went off to fix myself a meal. When I returned the launcher had apparently finished its stuff (I checked that it was still set to 'download all resources') and was ready for me to log in. I did this and, sure enough, everything was fine. No more 30-minute log in times; no more waiting 10GÇô15 seconds or more for commands to take effect; no more looking at the shuttle on my screen when my ship hangar window shows I'm in an interceptor; no more black screen for 15 minutes or more when I dock at a new station; no more spinning whirligig thingy at bottom left of screen. Brilliant.
I played for a while then went to bed.
This morning I logged in again (via exefile) - no problem. Performance was again fine, except for one little niggle: when docking, my inventory window didn't open automatically as it was supposed to. That's only a small problem, I thought, I'll run the Repair Tool GÇô CCP says that's fine after the initial update has completed.
BIG MISTAKE.
Couldn't get back in with exefile GÇô EVE started but became unresponsive after about 3 seconds.
Same result with the Launcher at first, but after repeated attempts I got it to start downloading.
It says it's downloading 5.89 GB, but it also says that the download is 70% complete at 108.05 MB.
Oh, and it's been running for 8-+ hours.

The repair tool, it's not repairing anything, it's eating something(s) important and making an absolute disaster of everything in the CCP file.
The DoD setting in the Launcher to download everything? Lies. I still get a lot of hesitation while the game grabs the information it needs when it should already be there from the "download everything' setting.
The Launcher itself? It's regularly having mental meltdown moments, trying to uninstall itself (or just plain vanish from anywhere I can find it), trying to download the same 7.68~gigs over and over if you let it, and just being a roadblock to playing.
I've managed to play somewhat today on a clean install by using the rescache.exe to get the download into the HDD. I shudder on what tomorrow's possible patch will bring me when it comes to being able to play, let alone up to normal frame rates. (I don't ask for much in my 'normal', a solid 25-30 FPS gets me by)
What is this thing that the Eve client, repair tool, and launcher have become? To quote Mr. Horse, "No sir, I don't like it."

Don't make me link Iggy McStickson or something else I've saved to make the conversation irrelevant. I have bookmarks and I'm not afraid to use them.
Do inactive clones sit in their vats, dreaming of virtual Slaver Hounds?
