If you clicked the link, make sure you use antivirus and search your computer. And don't use EVE until you did that.
Also, it is usually fairly obvious what these links are, don't click them. Avoid anything ending with .ua, and if it's a clickable link, make sure you know what you are clicking.

My god I watched as this all kicked off, all I can say is guys well done for getting as quick as you can, and well done to the playerbase for taking note of the recent blogs and warning posts (those who didn't won a darwin award for their efforts).
Smooth doesn't even describe how quickly and professionally pulled off that was.
I love these guys. WUB WUB.

You can only get automaticly infected by the trojan on that web site if you are using Internet Explorer. Its a unsafe, crappy browser which you shouldnt use in the first place. Use Firefox 2.0 RC3 or Opera 9 instead. They are not only much more secure, but also has alot of cool features IE doesnt have.
If you visited the site with IE, you may be infected. Most virus program finds the trojan - use them. :)

Good post so I can do the nitpicking:
Opera 9 is actually not safe, 9.0.2 is. Yes, it's shocking, they found one security issue in Opera 9.0.1 and fixed it immediatly. IE7 is new (and thus also buggy) but it has a lot of features like phishing filter that makes it a lot better than IE6. Doesn't beat Opera though.
Firefox...hah.

Sadly not. My fingers hurt
As for where the deleted posts go - we used the size of Wrangler's beer stash to create a gravity well so big that a black hole was formed into which we can throw all of the nasty posts.
On a more serious note, thanks for the support from you folks, it's most gratefully received.

Actually there have been more security holes discovered in FireFox this year than IE. They seem to get fixed more quickly with FF but you should not lull people into a false sense of security by implying that FF is any less vulnerable than IE.
Considering that FF still has little more than 20% of the browser market it's worrying (if you use it) that more holes have been found in it this year than IE. Good to see them being closed more quickly but far from a rosy picture. -- (Battle hardened industrialist)

Why not just add ".ua" to the bad words filter? It would instapop the links when posted.

Easy to get around stuff like that with http://tinyurl.com/ for example. Besides, its pretty easy for him/them to move the page somewhere else.

This is flat-out misinformation.
A "serious firefox exploit" means that a bug can be abused to crash Firefox. There is no risk to the user. Firefox isn't integrated with the OS, so its nearly impossible for a bug to exist where the system can be compromised.
In IE, if such a bug existed, it would be completely non-notable: in fact, nobody would even mention it in the news, because there's thouasnds of them. A "serious IE exploit" is one where your entire computer can be hacked in a second from visiting a website. There are craploads of these. There are basically none for Firefox.
The reason why there are so many much more minor Firefox "bugs" is because the source is open, and people can find them and fix them.

Any application that can suffer code injection attacks can be used as a gateway into infecting your computer system. FF is not immune to these type of attacks.

What? That FF is not completely secure? That is what I posted and I stand by it.
Telling people to switch from IE to FF because it will prevent future problems is misinformation. It lulls people into a false sense of security. Those with experience of computer security know that neither is safe and can act accordingly. Those without experience will assume that by using FF they can browse where and how they want and will put themselves at risk. -- (Battle hardened industrialist)

And advisable plugin for all firefox users:
http://www.noscript.net - It blocks all javascript, activex, java etc unless you allow the site via a little hotbar sorta thing on the bottem of your screen. Annoying in the first few hours while you get your ususal sites added to it, but once your setup it helps a **** load.
