As for the Sandbox, it was never a sandbox. Even look at CCP social media. They don't showcase building in EVE. They showcase lie, cheat, steal, backstab and destroy.
The most recent being a 600 billion ISK corp theft that was '6 months in the making'. Ignore the years and players it took to build it.
Pretty much this. Eve is a cesspool of the worst of humanity. I think this is why I have found it hard to log in over the last few years and have just been playing skillqueue online. |

Hence why I'm neither really for or against it, I just find it entertaining when it's touted as progress of some sort. |

I could be wrong, but just a perspective of mine. no you're correct, that's all because their head boss came up with a brilliant plan to allow devs to work on whatever they feel , as if this gave them a chance to rejuvenate their minds and not be so stressed out and under the gun.. she is the one allowing this free reign.. the owner is the one hiring players to ruin his business.. THAT is a problem. eve online is not going to "hold the line" once the competition comes.. eve valkerie?? what a joke hahah VR is a gimmick just like 3D gimmick.. it never stays around just some companies pulling a money grab.. it will not become standard, it will not be a success but ccp still pulling out those cut scenes trailers hoping it will dangle the carrots for them. then super cap pilots went totally batchit crazy and threatened to quit this extremely biased game.. ccp seagull makes a "promise" to make capital ships important this year.. now we'll wait for her promise to make null sec more thrilling to get new players there to experience it... cause the damage fozzie-sov is about to do is worse than soundwave, greyscale (ccp greyscale **** things up really really bad) he talks a good game and that's why ccp hired him.. just like why they gave that mintchip chick a job. fawking players of the god damn game getting jobs cause they allow it. not cause they have experience in game design.. all cause they played the ****ing game! in the states dev's or people trying to call themselves a dev with that limited experience would be laughed out of the studio. like that idiot who tried to apply for head coaching position in the NFL... all cause his Madden Game Stats said he was brilliant!!!! hey CCP I save squirrels and made a life-sized titan out of bacon.. give me a damn job you punks! then let me take on pvp in this game.. I will show you the future!!! I would make sure to invite guest speakers to fan fest and make it so exciting they would not fall asleep during their own presentation on stage!... ( yes! ccp im not ever going to let that one go!!)
Yah we listened... And it's never been as bad... And now more nerfing and role changes that defeat the original purpose for many of us training and buying those supers...

Seriously, a member of the Faction Warfare corps (ie State War for instance) should be able to do that without Concord intervention (or a security hit) if the target is in the opposing state's NPC corps. Security ratings of an enemy system make that progressively more difficult, and rookie systems are off limits in all Empires.
It certainly would be welcome in the Faction Warfare community

The people that built things/communities/etc have by and large quit playing or playing anywhere near the amount they played before to help continue building what they had previously worked on.
It's like Detroit. It was once a great place, but when the people that did things left or quit being proactive in the city, it was taken over by the worst kinds of people. Detroit, meet Eve. From what i have seen i like the direction,
i have always thought a more infrastructure approach to null sec made more sense. rather than the pos warfare system we have in place currently.
to me infrastructure should be the key that limits a player alliance size.
the more infrastructure they can maintain/defend the bigger their empire .
whether this can be made into a fun game play mechanic is yet to be seen but i feel the upcoming changes will at least be a refreshing change to what has currently been a aging legacy system that has needed a proper reinvention for a long time. |

The only real problem is as you said "the bigger the empire". There is little room in sov nul for smaller unaligned groups now. The coming changes will reduce that even further as the only way to hold sov will be to have masses of members and massive infrastructure, which will only be attainable by the biggest groups.
My opinions are mine.

It encouraged me and thousands of other newbies the last two years. Now we have the second largest alliance in EvE. Look again at the presentation that Rise gave. The numbers show that player retention is way higher when players get their ships blown up early in their carreer. |

Supers and Titans are especially broken. Stop expecting god mode in EVE. That was never promised.
I think that the best thing to do would be delete Supers and Titans, give the pilots back all the skill points for them and a pile of other ships to redeem in any station.
They can re-purpose the graphical assets, for example; Titans can become good at different e-war depending on race against dreadnaughts. They could also be allowed some two command links that do +2.5% more than regular boosters manage. Meanwhile, super carriers can be exceptionally good at moving rigged ships for people to re-ship or swop ships, their offensive abilities drop to 5 fights / bombers at a time and they get hard capped at 80% resists.
Dooms Day devices can be changed to only take off 50% of eHP and can only be used once. So, you need good support to capitalise on that ... or simply remove them completely but people will whine about losing their carebear powers.
What ever CCP does, they should rip the bandaid off fast and bleed a few customers. The new players won't know andy different, only imagine what the fading veterans say until it passes away like Titan AoEs. When the new players finally get into a capital fleet and imagine how broken Supers and Titans were then they will appreciate the changes, like most of the rest of us would.
Over all it will be healthier for the game.

Raises the question how people who complain about this actually started the game and if they simply live out their issues with this crap.
The noob/vet difference is always brought up, but there is not a single shred of evidence that it matters in the big picture.
Because if it did, the game wouldn't have survived 11 years.
Anytime someone comes up with this, he seems to only talk about his own issues.

4 years ago i took a year off when my wife had my son, but my three accounts were paid for for the full year.
With unlimited skill queue and other such things people who get bored can plug in a year of skills, and go play soemthing else. People who use eve-offline numbers as proof that the subs are down are dumb. It CAN mean that, but most likly not.
Also if you look at the last 6 month update form CCP they were merely down 2.5k subs compaired to the first 6 months in 2013.
They have not released the YTD numbers yet, and are holding off till aug. Which means maybe they did take a huge dip. But i don't think so.

CCP realised that people not playing is still a good thing, because that's how EVE ONLINE as a platform works.
It turns out that "numbers playing" is actually less relevant than "numbers participating". Of course wouldn't it look good to drop to 10k, but that's not what's going to happen.
So, while you are not playing you have paid for a full year. That means that you are still participating on the EVE ONLINE platform, no matter how it looks.
What matters, is:
a) You will come back into the game! b) You might be using the plattform in a different way.
Imagine a launcher which doesn't tell us "34.254 players logged in" ... ... but "154.998 players connected with EVE ONLINE" (as a platform).
This number comes from every single active player within the EVE ONLINE plattform.
EVE, DUST, everyone active on the forums, everyone currently using the webui (active, ongoing mail conversations?) ... ... people active on sites or via tools which use CREST, the SSO ...
... and whatever else I can not think of.
*sighs* I can only dream ...
