Edited by: Jim McGregor on 25/10/2006 12:44:50 Ok, im a little annoyed after waiting 90 minutes to log in, only to get:
Handshake Failed - VIP Key must match user name
I read in a post that the message doesnt appear if you have the username in all lowercase letters, so I tried changing that. But I didnt get another try and now im back at the end of the queue again.
RABBLE!!! No wonder the queue has 300 people in it when you have to run it several times to get in to the server... and know the secret knock-knock technique too. Grr.

About log in problems, a few things that you NEED to double-check BEFORE clicking "connect", just so you don't waste your time (and nerves) needlessly...
1. Input your USERNAME in all lowercase. YourUserName -> WRONG yourusername -> RIGHT
2. Input password with right UpperCase/lowercase characters. So if your password is "MySillypassWord123"... MySillypassWord123 -> RIGHT mysillypassword123 -> WRONG MySillyPassword123 -> WRONG
3. Mirror is from the 10th of October.
So if you changed passwords since then, TRY to remember what your password was on the 10th of October.
Also, if your subscription ran out since then OR if you use GTCs instead of the normal subscription, there's a good chance your account might be disabled, and you wait several hours in line for nothing. Account re-enabling doesn't seem to be a priority right now, at least not in the near future, as there are more than enough willing volunteers already. ___
Remember: testserver access is a PRIVILEGE not a right.
And if you DO get on the testserver, (at least) your conscience should make you actually TEST something that others haven't already reported as "broken" yet (check bugreport sticky), and don't whine if trying to re-create somebody else's bug report gets you stuck/disconnected/whatever. _____ -sig-

I waited 3 hours, got to the character select screen, and was informed "The system you are currently in (Luminaire) is stuck. Please try again later". I wasn't a happy bunny -----------------------------------------------

By the way, I got (before "oh joy" my ISP failed me at the "best" possible time) a whooping minute or so inside SiSi so far, out of 7 (or was it 8?) attempts and over 12 hours in total spent trying (while doing some other things too, of course). __
EDIT: another noteworthy thing about the queue... sometimes the whole node seems to crash, or at least a significant portion of "queuers" seem to get dropped, at which time it's more of a lottery than anything else what number in queue you will get afterwards. If you don't have a RockSolid™ internet connection, you might as well just give up, as you might be losing your place in the queue every time the client fails a "ping-like" check.
And then there's of course the reboots (for serverside hotfixes I suppose, or new item seeding or whatnot), when everybody gets thrown out and has to start over again. _____ -sig-

I think the different way sisi handles system activation is also causing probs. Ordinarily if no one else has passed through a system in some time, a node or system is not available immediately, under normal circumstances this is not a problem you only usually need to queue for about 5 seconds until the system becomes available. However, with the load at max and all the additional players waiting to get in, the additional lag is causing timeouts if attempting to get online in a system that is not yet active. I have had it happen twice now, getting dropped to the back of the queue, I checked router logs and isp etc to ensure my connection wasnĘt adding to the problem and everything seems to be as it should be. It is more than a little frustrating to wait all that time in the queue only to timeout once reaching number one. Regards HexCaliber |

It can get worse. 3 hours to go from queue #442 to #1, logging in.. acquiring bulk data... 10 minutes, stopped, back to #421.
It may be a privilege and not a right, but users testing for free and helping to correct the bugs of a game they PAY for... changes the whole picture.

Er, it says right in the login info box "expect a very bumpy ride the next week."
These are some of the promised bumps.
Me, I've spent a lot of hours in the queue. Been logged in successfully about three times now. None of those lasted more than five minutes -- testing various features I always found a way to crash or hang or get disconnected.
Still, it's been worth it. I've seen some new features, found some bugs (none so far others hadn't found first) and satisfied some curiousity.
Patience, grasshoppers. Your turns will come.

I spent another 4 hours in queue tonight. When I finally got to #1....VIP key error...

I'd rather wait a week and test everything smoothly than not being able log on Sisi for 4 hours, finally get theh #1 spot and then get booted within 10 minutes. _________________________________________

Yup, sounds good with me.
Probably some people seem to forget that SiSi is a test server. Bumpyness and inconveniences - like the queue - are natural on a testserver. Whoever is not prepared for that shouldnt even try to log on.

i started trying to login at work at mid-day today... its now 8pm;). Unfortunately at work i wasnt watching at when it had "click to connect (6 minutes ago)" and i clicked i got something about stay awake timer or something... cant quite remember...
When i got home i started two clients (around 5:30ish), and they finally got on around 7:45pm my time (gmt+10).. servers went down about 10 minutes later... Having spent about a total of an hour on the servers (50 minutes + 10 + 10) and had my clients running for about 12 hours by now is tough.
its really getting just a tad rediculous and just a small bit annoying.. yesterday and day before were practically the same thing. I think we're all expecting a bumpy ride, but i live in like the opposite of peak-time so i can only image how frustrating it would be to live in the peak time areas...

The queue is in place because the servers cannot take the load. Noone forces you to sit in the queue. I dont want to see any more complaints from here on about it.
