Sustainable income in EVE is around 12-15 mill an hr.
He obviously ment buying plex with rl cash and selling it for isk hence per click and not per tick (in-game tick = 20min) |

I realize that work in the real life costs time as well, but the gain is much higher. Id rather use rl cash on holidays than internet spaceships. You can earn hefty sums of isk afk anyway.
Amen and +1 to that. While I'm glad people decide to use rl money for plex (which feeds the plex market I survive on) it's mystifying to me how incredibly bad one has to be to not be able to accumulate 27 million isk per day (the daily price of a plex) per character.
Hmm, 20 minutes a day of doing some kind of pve in a video game while drinking beer and watching that hot bleached blonde dragon chick with the "suggestive lips" from Game of Thrones on my other monitor, OR getting dressed, driving to work and working overtime while usually not drinking beer?
Hmmm, tough choice there. |

Calling it "being bad" doesn't make you look "good". I understand that not everyone can afford this, but there is nothing superior in wasting even 20 minutes on something completely unnecessary. That's 20 minutes a day I can use for something better.

Oddly, that's the point. The "get a job" people are the ones that look down their noses at people who are good at making in game isk (and who thusly use plex to pay their subs). I have a job, but since pve is easy and I enjoy it, I just do that instead. Most of the 'get a job and buy a plex' folks are PVP-only types who are kind of incapable of understanding that 'fun' is subjective.
I'm simply saying "good for you if you think working a real job just to play a video game is the way to go, ima be butt ass naked drinking beer playing that same video game and plexing while you sweat". |

I'm sorry for touching your nerves. I promise I will not do it again. You are, of course, not only the better player, but also the better person. The 20 minutes you spend on your TV getting off by looking at a character on screen you will never be able to touch or talk to clearly beat how I spend my time.
I'm sorry for even replying to you and your superiority is, of course, noted by everyone.

I accept your surrender (after wiping the large amount of butt hurt off of it) and will contact you to let you know when you can contract all your stuff to me as a form of tribute. Oh and next time, try keeping your own superior attitude in check, and I won't have to do it for you

In case no one knows which nerve I triggered, it's the "I have to show off how much better I am" nerve, which lies next to the one about "I see butthurt people everywhere". It reminds me a bit of teenagers playing FPS games who do not understand that a game isn't reality and how their superiority is meaningless.
Fascinating and a pointless waste of time. Now please accept my retreat. I will go ask my wife to spend the next 20 minutes massaging me (I have backpain AND a broken leg) and tell her how sad I am about not being able to enjoy the pleasure of watching women on a screen, while being all alone.

I make my iskies manufacturing and trading.
Hard to nail an ISK/hour... I make on average 3-4 Bil a month with maybe 4-5 hours a week of actively doing something (updating orders, jumping and hauling stuff, managing manufacturing & invention jobs).
That comes down to 150-200 Mil per hour or so? All-inclusive. Rest of the time I blow up stuff :)
Also consider that I invested quite a lot of time to set up spreadsheets, accounts, trading routes, learn to not lose blockade runners and jump freighters, learn T2 manufacturing, etc. so that figure is the end-result of a substantial time investment up front.

ISK/hr has a different meaning for miners/mission runners than for manufacturers/traders of course since the latter are making ISK whilst offline, plus all three avatars per account are doing so.
In my case with a small industrial Corp the Spreadsheet says we make around the same ISK/hr as above. PLEX presently eats up around 40% of our profit.

I have one character doing a particular activity for about 45 minutes a day, on average. It has been a sustainable source of income for years. It easily produces sufficient ISK to PLEX my three accounts, plus replace whatever ships I lose, around 3 bil a month. So that equates to 133 mil an hour.

Twenty minutes is a lot of focused guitar technique practice, time for a quick run, or a match or two in some other videogame for me for example.
But anyway, I mainly still have an active subscription to this game because of the setup. My characters progress in the only real meaningful since, with skillpoints, whether or not I'm logged on 40 hours a week killing trolls or crafting 10000 leather jockstraps.
I'm free then as a player to choose from an assortment of PVE or PVP with FW options to generate some isk to fund anything else I may do in the sandbox at my own leisure. If friends are on or a fleet is up I can do that. If there is no one around I want to fly with I can go solo and do my own thing on my own schedule and still have a good time with that 1-3 hours I can find to chill out and play some EVE.
No other MMO is really setup that way because they are all pretty linear while progression in EVE really is subjective and self directed. It is more like a hobby within the hobby of gaming. If you want to go for 80 hours a week you can, but if you don't you won't necessarily have less of a good time if you're using your playtime for things you enjoy, which again isn't necessarily tied to drudgery unless you make it about that.
In my country even a minimum wage job will net you a plex in ~3 hours and with prices like they are it would take you a long time to go through the 800 million in most cases and take less than the ~40 hours it would take you making ~20 mil per hour purely playing to make isk. If you love PVE it's cool, but if you just want the isk to something you actually WANT to do...maybe not. Personally as much as I enjoy aspects of EVE the PVE is bad, dated, uninteresting, and timesink/grind oriented. I don't mission because I enjoy it, but because if I only have an hour to spare I can knock some out, bank some isk, and later use it to do something I do enjoy.
It is literally a virtual job for me, a means to an end. I have nothing against PVE in general and enjoy it in other MMO's, but in this case it is just a bad implementation. Sitting for minutes blowing up waves of stupid NPC's for no other reason than to keep me in the mission pocket , anom, wh site for some amount of time is just not a good time. It is only slightly better than targeting rocks and pressing F1, which is only probably psychological because the mechanics are largely the same.
You really have to seek more to maximize your fun per hour, that is going to be a subjective thing, and if isk = fun for you have at it. If not, it is a little sad to devote more of your hopefully valuable time than is absolutely necessary for you making it.
40 hours is a lot of opportunity cost in life. |
