Edited by: Rakeris on 29/10/2006 23:23:30 Psh, only 3? In the Uemisaisen there are like 4-6 retrevers all with straingly simaler names and 1-2 haulers that haul the ore...
And they are on like 23/7 and never do anything if you steal their ore...I've took millions in ore from them, and they never do/say a thing.

I constantly stop macro operations in the Amarr/Ashab area, and this was the goofiest looking trio I've seen yet O_o The rest were all the regular "no reply, just mine and occasionally belt hop" kind. Kinda makes me wonder, what constitutes macromining after all?

Edited by: Dahak2150 on 30/10/2006 01:30:28 There were, until I got involved, 8 characters all with names ending in -gnaw in Luminaire. For example, ellagnaw. Each had a common first name followed by gnaw.
Same with -gnod. carlagnod, carlgnod, etc.
Not to mention the 5 guys with alphanumeric strings, all the same age, all mining together.
I've also seen a guy named Borignaw (note the similarities) farming complexes. He also seems to've loaned his caracal (I did a show info on his/her ship. Amyux was in Borignaw's caracal) to an amyux who cursed at me in chinese when I dared to enter the same complex as he/she. But that's another story.

Alt tabbing between three accounts isn't the same as macro mining. Its nearly the only effective way to mine in 0.0 alone, without cordinating schedules and a shareing plan with someone else. It takes cordination and attention to do well, not to mention more of an investment. While the names are a bit suspicious, nothing from that exchange confirms macroing, and the fact he responds at all suggests its not.
Macro mining involves the use of macros. No, really. Its in the name. 3rd party software utilities that control the interface, sans your hard work. Poping them isvigilante justice, as what they are doing is illegal, they just haven't been caught by the authorites yet.
You have the right to commit acts of piracy on a non-macro miner too, but don't pass it off as vigilante justice. Own up to what it is, the ransom demand of a pirate. If the miner doesn't have the force to fight you off, of course you can extort cash from him- its all part of the game.
I'm all for disrupting macro miners, and don't really have a problem with your extortion bid, but I do wish we'd all call a spade a spade.

so anyway, im cruising my usual haunts, and i see a buncha noobcorp nubs in local. jump on the scanner and whaddaya know... Brutix, Cyclone, BadgerII and a mega sitting in a belt next to a load of cans marked 21121 etc... needless to say i begin salivating
jump into the local pirate channel and ask who wants to help me gank a load of nublet miners, couple of people raise there hands. i quickly shoot thru the belt and bm warpins for the miners spots.
Round 1: (Pirates) Thorax, Blackbird, Taranis Vs (Miners)Megathron, Cyclone Brutix + cloud of VespaI's
Losses Round 1: (Pirates) Thorax [warped to station with gcc] (Miners) Cyclone + Pod
just missed out on the mega cos i forgot to scram it :(
Round 2: The Next Day (Pirates) Thrasher, Vagabond Vs (Miners) Brutix, Megathron, BadgerII Vs (Random unrelated ratters having a duel) Arbitrator, Caracal
Losses Round 2: (Pirates) None (Miners) Brutix + Pod(?), Megathron + Pod, BadgerII + Pod (Ratters) Caracal, Arbitrator
the miners acted very suspiciously in that: a) they didnt dock as soon as i entered local (-9 with a bounty) b) they didnt dock as soon as i entered their belt the first time (again -9 with a bounty) c) they did it again the next day d) not a word in local, not one, no pleas for mercy, nothing e) when i warped in the belt not only did they not head for dock asap, they IGNORED me till i locked them [honestly, who thinks "maybe this flashy red guy with a bounty on him in a corp with the ticker 'POD.U' will just go away if i ignore him" i cannot follow that line of reasoning]
its my belief that it was a farmer, not a macro, a macro would have been more intelligent tbh

Why would the macroers name their accounts/alts variations of the others?
Behaviour, not names, is indication of macroing. I am sorry, but I have to take offense at the immediate assumption that 3 accounts constitutes a macro miner. I routinely mine with 3 accounts and use no macros to accomplish this, especially with the 3 minute cycle time of the strip miners, it is extremely easy to run 3 accounts. Now, I am in no way saying that this is not a 'sweat shop' ISK mining operation, just that 3 accounts is totally doable by 1 person and does not require a macro to operate. -=^=-
