Eve is a great game, it combines tactics and skill in almost every aspect of it, from the trader to the PVPer.
The dissapointing parts about EVE are it actually costs more for us Australians (almost twice as much as the US) to play and most of the corps are europian or american.
Its currently 16:47 on the east coast of Australia, most americans are asleep, as are my corpmates, and I'm left to my own devices. Most of the corp ops happen in times when I'm either asleep, eating, studying or enjoying time with my family. And the worst thing of all is downtime, it occurs at 21:00 localtime making it 22:00 when it comes back up leaving you to decide if an hour or 2 is worth jumping on for before sleeping.
An example of us Aussies missing out on some aspects of the game. My corp did mining today, by the time I got on and the 50+jumps from where they run missions to where they do mining, the op had finished. So a couple of us went to PvP, got owned by LV, returned to our mining base and all but me went to bed.
What I would like is not to join another corp but to find aussies who are willing to help each other out when the yanks all pass out from lack of sleep, unusally in the 4 hours before and 2 or so hours after downtime. Sort of form a coalition of the aussies.
We'd stay in our own alliances and corps, but when they "yanks" pike out we get together and do something other than look at the station walls.
Any suggestions?

Welcome to my world =)
Well, best suggestions I can give are learn to solo or, maybe find an aussie or similar timezone corp. There are a few around. I don't mind being on alone so it's ok, I tend to be a lone ranger type (it's in the name, same thing happens in any game I play). At least we get prime spot on post-dt complexes/ratting etc.
It doesn't cost more to play! And I think you'll find the fun stuff happens at about 5am in the morning.... especially sundays. -----------------

I'm pretty sure there are corps dedicated to Aussie players. These corps are extremely valuable to major 0.0 alliances because Austrailian primetimes are ideal for POS warfare and logistics. If that's not your thing I'm sure you can find one that just does mining ops and missions, hopefully not 50 jumps apart. |

Just be happy that you get to be around when the server comes back online. All the trading goes on then, and all the complex running as well

DT timing real pain. If you wanna be a freek go to bed at down time, get up at 4 or 5am.... Play til you have to leave for the days most necessary activities.
Alternately hook up with an Aussie squad - There is an ANZAC alliance IIRC.
Either way early to late morning is usually the best time to play population wise. If you want to rat undisturbed in 0.0 playing around DT is actually an advantage.
Have fun

There are a lot of Aussies in the Ushra'Khan. Most of Thrace Inc and NKB (no Karn, I can't remember how to spell it =P ) are in NWS & SA with a few sand gropers thrown in.
Of course that puts us in daylight savings so DT kills our weeknights good and proper now.
Drop by channel "Thrace Bar and Grill". Plenty of us in there. You can also look up the ANZAC alliance.

Well the Melbourne cup just finish that explains why you are complaining. :P
I am in Sydney and I recognize this problem, both in cost of playing and player base, which is why I am trying to recruit more Aussies. I got a 24/7 corp running.
Have you considered trying to join a 24/7 corp? -----------

Frankly you've gotta change your corp. Just don't join ANZAC Alliance unless you want a bad rep. There's plenty of Aussie folks kicking around in eve. Even Euro corps are ok. __

I feel your pain. We've had a number of Aussies in corp over time, and any with 'regular' jobs/sleeping hours had the same problem.
As suggested here, there are many who play, so hook-up with a different corp. I would have thought 'Knights of the Southern Cross' sounded like Aussies, although I could be mistaken.

For starters, you need to find a corp that is in your own playtime.
Your corp might have the greatest peeps in the galaxy in it... That's no consolation if you're never on at the same time to work with them. (Unless they are actively recruiting to fill that void; and that takes time, too)

Speaking as an ex member of the same corp Jeff is currently in I can say that I feel his pain. The corp has some really really fun and good people in its ranks, but they are mostly from the US and that left me playing alone for 85% of the time. It was for the people that I stayed in there a hell of a lot longer than I should have, but on e positive side I got a heck of a lot of experience Solo ratting in 0.0. Experience which has stood me in good stead time and again ever since.
When I left it really felt like a betrayal to me. I still miss those days but once I got together with an active bunch from my timezone my whole game experience changed...for the better.

I am planning on moving to Aus in the next year or so & it seems like I would then have to quit playing. I am just your average 9-5 worker with a wife & kids & so I can normlly only get to play about 8pm to about 22.30 ish (or when i go to bed) so when I Aus the DT in its current state wouldn't make it worthwhile playing.

First of all Aussies FTW!~
Yes, I am a pround through and through Australian and currently I have found my home in: "The Black Rabbits." They are a Guristas roleplay corp (light roleplay) and we are currently recruiting Aussies and New Zealanders of all shapes and sizes. If interested in possible recruitment send me an Eve-Mail (Tainted OrPHeN) or jump on our public OOC (out of character) channel "The Black Rabbits" and I or another recruiter will get back to you.
The corp itself is a multi time zone corp with people from all around the world and always has people on whether they be us Aussies or the guys and girls (yes omg!) that don't like to sleep.
So if your up for some yarrrrage with some Roleplay on the side Look no further. Hope to hear from you soon!

I know your pain, that is why I never joined a major Corp/Alliance. Formed a Corp with a mate I met in game who is in NZ. So tend to be solo.
I find DT more of a pain than anything else, daylight savings time has help a bit.
I'd be up for the joining a group of like minded Aussie, but then we fall into the trust issue. I'm sure it would be gank heaven. ___________________
