OK, whats bugging you in EVE UI?
Point of this thread is simple: to tell the devs what sucks in their mighty UI. So please do tell. Ie: what to fix, what to change, what to add.
Ill start with couple improvements:
Bigger stuff first:
1. Allow selling multiple items at once.
Usage: a) Select multiple items in from your hangar. b) R-click and hit 'sell' c) Window pops up similar to reprocess where you can select/deselect items. Window displays price of item and how much above/below market average it is.
This would not affect lag at all i think. Now people have to spam sell over and over when returning from a mission for example. With this modification, they could get it done with single operation.
To reduce lag this _might_ cause, allow player only sell multiple items once every 5 minutes.
Like this
2. Redo Drone UI
Like this
Couple smaller tweaks:
1. Double clicking station container opens it.
2. Add ability to drag&drop stuff to station container. (meaning you could drag and drop stuff in the container without opening it with r-click first)
3. Add 'check market details' on items in 'variations' tab in item information dialog.
4. Add 'check market details' on items links in chat box. --- Get rid of those *bleep*ing secure containers. *bleep*! |

allow option to see what is in containers in remote stations
allow remote hangar management
and don't tell me that you have to be there. if I am there, what? i am in capsulae. I can't go and open the container or move stuff in/out.
This is job for machines. Just make a RDP to them ;-)

Stealth bumping this with some additions:
1. Add changing modules with right click menu in fitting screen.
Meaning that you r-click module slot and all items are listed in r-click menu.
So, r-click menu would go something like this:
- Show info (if theres module in the slot) - Unfit - Put offline - <separator> - Hangar |___Stuff |___Stuff |___Stuff |___Etc - Cargo Hold |___Stuff |___Stuff |___Stuff |___Etc
2. Allow us to change that ****ed chat font! --- Get rid of those *bleep*ing secure containers. *bleep*! |

I have not tested this as I only upgraded to dual screen last week:
I would love to be able to drag some of the windows on to another screen.
So if I say was running daul screen & started eve in a window I could maxize the window on my main monitor.
then I could do some thing like this: Leave my "objects list/gang/drones" & "Local chat" in my main/invspace veiw Drag my other windows like "IGB", "clan/Gang/alliance/corp chat", "p&p" & "market" onto my other screen
I'd understand if some windows can not be draged out to DT(eg objects list, cargo & cans) but it's just such a nice view I hate having it all cluttered in stuff. And being a noob I need as much veiw as posible when it comes to gang PvP.
also it would be cool to be one of the first games to us Dual monitors in such a useful way. but I'm sure it is no mean feet as I think Nvidia & ATI both do it differently.
would rock thow! enjoy -------------------------------------------------- To be put to the grind stone, To Sharpen One's Skills. -------------------------------------------------- -POP- Fear the pony men. |

Ruato,
CCP have done basically nothing to address basics of the UI like the font (well, they made it WORSE repeatedly) or indicators for scrambling and other status effects for years. I agree (One of my specalities is UI's!), but its a waste of breath :/

-- Move the Survey Scanner information onto the overview. A new column that shows mineral volume. That doesn't get filled until the scanner is activated with that roid in range. -- Also, I'd second the dual monitor tweak. Allow an second window (2D) to be opened that can have windows sent to it. Get them out of the beautiful view of Eve. Add it as a right click option on the titlebar of each window. -- If above is not an option, set an option to move the center of view out of the center of the window. Meaning we have a toggle that would move the ship and it's UI away from the monitor break in Horizontal Span mode.

More:
-Add 'avoid this system' in right click meny on starmap.
Meaning that when you set destination to some system and notice theres HUGE blob of destroyed pods and ships in some system in that route. You just r-click the system and select 'avoid this system' and computer plots new route that goes around selected system. --- Get rid of those *bleep*ing secure containers. *bleep*! |

o Show who is scrambling you (if you have the ship locked)

More:
- Add new way to organize our hangars and containers (or display their contents).
Meaning that you could display contents of any container as sorted (by item type) list where players could hide/display different types of items.

Edited by: Ruato on 25/11/2006 04:56:34 Time for another stealth bump and idea:
- Add mission overview info under waypoint and current loc info:
Like This.
EDIT: option to hide/show mission overview would ofcourse be needed for this, so it wouldnt clutter the screen with low resolutions (or if its not needed/wanted on screen). --- Get rid of those *bleep*ing secure containers. *bleep*! |

as per the ... "1. Add changing modules with right click menu in fitting screen." NO! DO NOT DO IT! Sometimes i have over 200 items in my hangar and holds. Dear goddess the lag it would cause!
Now, what you CAN do pertaining to containers... add contents of containers to assests search. After all, you do own it in a station. Might as well add the system itself to the assest list and show nukmber of things currently anchored. Good for remembering where you left a can at in space.

Scrambling indivator is needed quite badly i agree. Also some soudn queues wouldn't go amiss as part of the UI: 'your shields are down' and 'your armor is pierced' to name but a few of the things i'd like the ui to tell me, literally tell me. <<<< No Boundaries, No Fences, Fly Free Or Die Trying >>>>

Ruato, btw, you've got to be one of the best suggestion guys out there...
And my addition would be:
PLEASE give a nod to EQ and WoW and give us countdown/cooldown timers on our moduals. Even though some of them are not very long a simple fade in/out or better yet a clock sweep like timer (ala WoW) would be an OUTSTANDING improvement and would take nearly NO time at all to impliment. Application: Miners!!! Think of how much easier it would be to ice mine and strip mine... Also in combat it would let you know about the ABs and MWDs times, the Missile Laucher Rates and Shield Boosters too. Again, a very, very, very easy addition, that requires ZERO additional clutter to the UI.
Second, much more... outside suggestion: Customizable UIs. I know this is a Pandora's box but in alllll the games I've ever played World of Zombies ... err, Warcraft did it and it's a fantastic success. It would allow us to make custom skins, custom colors, custom layouts. Allowing us to boot up Role Specific UIs (Miner UI w/more Roid info, Mission Tanker UI w/more Hps info displayed etc etc etc).

Edited by: Ruato on 26/11/2006 03:49:04 Thanks for the compliment.
Anyways, heres more:
1. Allow us to separate Selected Item (action buttons) from overview.
Simply drag it from overview and drop anywhere on screen.
Same system could be used with new gang interface found in Kali.
2. Allow us to move targeted items.
EDIT: meaning that you could drag targeted items anywhere on screen, not that you could change their order.
3. Add keyboard shortcuts for selecting targeted items.
For example, numpad 1-7 would select targeted items from left to right. 1 would be target closest to overview.
These suggestions are there because currently theres too much mouse travel when using the UI. You constantly need to click modules, targets and selected item buttons, and problem is that they are too far away from eachothers. (carpal tunnel ftw!)

More:
Add 2 options in contract UI to filter courier missions. 1. by route length. (how many jumps is the max courier route) 2. by zone security (ie: do you want low sec courier missions?)
These would pretty much nuke courier scams completely because theres 2 types of scams going on. first one is insanely long courier route, and another is combined with lots of 0.0 systems in the route (contractor hopes that his client gets blown up while doing the courier mission so he can keep the collateral) --- Get rid of those *bleep*ing secure containers. *bleep*! |

More:
1. Add module groups.
Meaning that you could group similar modules (weapons, hardeners, etc) and activate whole group with single button. Also add selection to module options for "show groups" and "show modules"
2. Add weapon optimal range for missiles on tactical overlay (should be simple enough for computer to calculate speed and flight time for missiles and check skills) --- Get rid of those *bleep*ing secure containers. *bleep*! |

Just annoying devs and bumping this old thread with another suggestion :p
Re-arrange (atleast some) lists found in game, like this.
Currently some lists are quite hard to manage (for example agent lists and places). If you have lots of entries in the list, it becomes impossible to move stuff from folder to another (not enough screen space to drag&drop). --- Get rid of those *bleep*ing secure containers. *bleep*! |

would just like to be able to click and drag to select a group of items rather then having to press shift
it's a real pain having to press shift when your 2nd keyboard is out the way.

Just bumping this old thread with another UI (and game) improvement.
Add ability to save routes (waypoints).
Example why this would be useful: I'm doing quite a bit of exploration these days and I operate from same base. And i scan same starsystems every time i'm doing exploration.
Ofcourse i have to plot route every single time i'm doing it.
So would be quite a nice timesaver if i could save the route and just reload it every time i need it. --- Get rid of those *bleep*ing secure containers. *bleep*! |
