Maelstrom are an industrialist based Alliance with some pew-pew guys scattered in it, generally they keep to themselves and are not a massive threat to anyone in the grand scale of things.
Recently they have been the target of IAC as they put a shiny new outpost up in I-NGI8 a few months ago (just east of ISS KDF). The rocks there arn't particuarly good but at the time the area was quiet and the investment in the outpost would have looked like a good idea for some quiet 0.0 carebear'ing life.
They were Part of the Coalition, but pretty well much left to fend for themselves with no assistance en masse from its partners (Meatshield?) to be fair they were learning as fast as can be expected on how to deal with attacks from outside.
When IAC started to turn the screw and pressurise the outpost a change of heart occurred at the top level in Maelstrom and IAC and they both Napped each other last month, IAC stating a new target had been aquired for them (chimp?).
In doing so, "M" ****ed off their former Coalition masters and no doubt this is the result. Im sure a fading alliance is trying to make a point to the rest of its Meatshields. Lets be honest with KOS in the east and "M" in the west they aint been keeping control to well...
Off course the above is speculation...
One last point of note, a rather juicy 10/10 gate and 8/10 are close by the outpost (very close) "M" do not have the combat power or mindset to control these and the Russian Afiliate corps/Alliances farm them.
Single outpost, easily shut in - i would expect "M" to struggle to retain this outpost, they will lack support i suspect. From what i saw when i was down there they still needed another few months of dealing with constant attack to sharpen up the FC's tactics.

nice post, dont know if its an accurate representation (cos i've not heard of them either), but it was a nice read.

Traditionally I suppose ]v[ has had a large industrial base however through necessity and circumstance this has changed. We are currently predominantly tied up with UNL and Volition Cult in Immensea hence we are not often seen in other regions however I can assure you though that we have not done a KOS. It is worth bearing in mind that around the time that we resumed friendly standings with IAC CHIMP did as well, traditionally we have always been friendly with IAC and so our standings change with them merely reflected a return to the norm rather than a turning away from the coalition.

Ok honest question then.
Do you expect Coalition forces to come to your Aid during your War.
UNL (Russion affiliate Alliance)are more than happy to see you as Neighbours as you do not have a serious pressence in the timezones that count to effect their Complex mining efforts.
Dont even think that they contracted MC to remove you.
IAC - as stated they arn't the enemies now, you actually share a lot in common with them as potential freinds.
That leaves the Coalition, yes you retained your polical ties with them, but honestly how long did you think you could sit on the political fence being nap'd with two oppossing forces.
Obvioulsy i painted you as a non Aggressive alliance, that might be unfair and maybe your pew pew skills at protecting owned turf are getting better. Its been a month since ive been down there and if thats the case time will tell and i bow to your viewpoint on that.

An honest answer:
Yes I would expect the coalition to come to our aid if they could (though we are aware that they are rather preoccupied with RAGOON atm)
We do not think UNL hired the MC (we have ideas who we think did but I don't think we will ever find out for certain)
We know we have a lot in common with IAC, we aren't friendly with them just for the sake of it.
As for the coalition and IAC, we have always been friendly with IAC. Regrettably we were briefly hostile with them due to an agreement we made with CHIMP that put us in a rather impossible situation but that is sorted out now. We do not feel our standings with IAC interfere with our standings with the coalition. On a personal level I believe that the coalition and IAC would be better off putting old grudges behind them and resuming friendly standings but of course that is their choice and not mine.

With the ever increasing pressure comming from the East from Racoon and from the West from BoB, the divided Central Southern Alliances probably need to get a grip sooner or later and get around a table and get some things sorted out.
Time is ticking as these rather 2 large entities are moving towards each other attempting to sweep a divided opposition aside in their path.

BRUCE Alliance(Brutally Clever Empire)  is a relatively new alliance in the Aeschee/area of Essence (Empire), although made up of mainly industrial corps they recently gave a pretty good account of themselves against 9th Fleet Alliance, (which led to 9th leaving the area for Genesis) and the mercenaries that 9th Hired. mainly by mass equiping (Blobbing) their industrialist in T1 frigs with ECM.
As to who hired them  , the only folks I can think that would , would be the aforementioned 9th Fleet, however various 9th fleet council members have denied this in private communications.
