That's one of the best takes I've read on these forums since I started playing. Terrific!
And, IMHO, I'd rather be chillin' in a warm station drinking gallons of Quafe, eating Long-limb roes, with Exotic Dancers by my side vs. being all curled up in the fetal position floating around in ice-cold goo looking at nuudie magazines.
But it's not really dictating what you're doing in the world of EVE, I mean why stay in the station for hours, you might as well log off and do something else.
Um jump clones? I know you have info on local but unless you're glued to it, how do you know they aren't rotating personal between the siege and another station half way across the galaxy? I mean really ISK are one of the few things in the game that aren't system local, might as well get something done while they wait.
Besides they clearly will not come out and fight you for two reasons
1) This is war. In war you deny your enemy their strategic and tactical goals. Yours are to have fun (i.e. large fleet battles) and destroy BRUCES POS. They took down the second and you've been complaining about the lack of the first for over a week.
2) BRUCE probably knows who hired you by now. The less damage they take now the more resources they have for the war that's coming when your contract is up. Meanwhile BRUCE builds more ships.
Now me if I were the BRUCE commander, I'd put out some large buy orders for minerals. Build a bunch of Condors (100 is what 6.5 Mil), outfit them with midrange missile launchers and try to swarmkill whatever ship you had that looked like it had the most expensive modules. Cause some EXPENSIVE damage and the next merc contract will be more expensive.
Then again I'm just a newbie.

Oh my God, we've jammed Phoneus! We're b......s!
You guys took my mighty t1 packed Rifter to half armour once and to half structure once. I don't like you any more. Please note that this is my beloved piece of rust that I've been fightin in like forever, I have strong emotional ties with it, so I'd be very very angry if you'd dismember it. I was considering leaving it in hangar for the duration of this war, but nah.... If it'll survive it's tackling duty in this first BRUCE-MC war it'll be like a treasure to me .

If we were making 9th Fleet so miserable that they had to hire the best, I guess we're officially not a newbie alliance anymore. To correct a minor point from the gentleman of TBSV, however - we used our T1 Frigs to defend when 9th came to take our POS out and failed. They're also still baseline doctrine for our new pilots. We used considerably bigger ships when we went to Genesis to thank them for all the trouble they caused us when we were too small to thank them sooner. TBSV would have missed most of that since BRUCE's killboard isn't public.
To the excellent and professional gentlemen of MC -
I look forward to learning what may be learned from such experienced foes. We certainly weren't expanding our tactics training manuals fighting 9th. We fully expect to get thumped a bit, and we fully expect to learn a great deal. We've already noticed the patience you guys have shown in not falling for our traps, and we've already picked up a new card in our own decks from seeing one of your traps. ;)
BRUCE is new, but not stupid - good luck, good hunting, and thanks for the education.
See. Now that was a good post. I wish all of Eve posted like this. I'll buy you a few lap dances in Jita.

IMO, after a war is over, young Alliances should look to contract a Corp in the MC, or even a few pilots, to come back in and start a training program for their millitary.
Now I don't know what a good contract fee for this is, but I do know we MC pilots enjoy pvp'ing. The more trained the foe the more fun for us. All the MC corps are permitted to leave the alliance for a contract as long as is doesnt interfere with Seleene's busy schedule.
Why does everyone think a merc corp is hired ONLY to attack a certain target or targets.
I mean, we all know Dol Amroth needs cash. He might even wax your floors for a few isk per hour.

I don't really think either side has any moral high ground to claim here. We're playing to achieve our own ends - a thoroughly pointless waste of money for whoever hired (if indeed there actually is a client...) MC, and the occasional fight. In the last 24 hours I myself have been involved in chasing off 2 MC station camps, chasing a few of them around the system, and even camping one of them in the station in an amusing change of roles. It's pointless, with our objectives in mind, to ehgage if we dont have a good chance of winning - MC, being the experienced players they are, tend to recognise these situations and safespot, and this is indeed what they have been doing - sensible play, quite frankly.
Interestingly, although MC have significantly more kills, in terms of isk value killed the fight is going remarkably well for BRUCE - those vagabonds are pricey

There is alot of camping in this war, as said you are playing it on your terms as you should.
Its mainly a war to stop you doing stuff at the moment and causing inconvience, taking down of your 3 POS's must have been abit annoying especially if you have to put them back up again after the war has ended.

Quote: I thought you said you were going to fight us, Maelstrom?
Way to go with the smack
You've read the previous posts, you know we're an industrial alliance, what did you expect? huge fleet battles? I'd say we're doing pretty well all things considered. I personally have killed 7 hostile BS, 12 cruisers and 20 Destroyers.
and now a treat for you all, I've seen several people asking for Seleene to post a war report and while I'm not Seleene, I'll do my best. Enjoy.
Last Friday I logged on to eve expecting to do a few hours pleasant veld mining in Rens in my Hulk. As the game opened I noticed my mailbox flashing; naturally I opened it up and as it loaded I idly speculated what it could be. Another corp mining op perhaps? or maybe a new offer from my agent? I've run a tonne of courier missions with my freighter alt recently.
Imagine my shock and distress when I read that the MC had war decced us, if you can't imagine that then I'll try to illustrate my thoughts at the time: 'oh noes, s^%tting fu$úing s&%t !!!111eleven' roughly sums it up. After I stopped hyperventilating and managed to think more or less rationally again I naturally resigned all my roles then tried to quit the corp, but I couldn't (****ed 24hours wait) and so in a panic I uninstalled eve and cancelled my sub. An hour or so later I sheepishly snuck onto vent to say goodbye to my corp mates, fortunately my CEO was on and after a few hours of chatting he managed to persuade me that it wasn't the end of the world and we could infact carry on playing, I learnt a few other interesting things as well. Did you know that the MC aren't all BoB alts and they don't all fly titans? It was all news to me.
Anyhow, the next day I reinstalled eve and fitted my best ship for combat. That's right, I replaced my harvester drones with warrior I's and I replaced a couple of my strip miners with civilian gatling railguns, thank goodness I was given the skills to use them when I started the game! Having brought my hulk down to I-N (apparently the alliance has an outpost in 0.0, I wish people would tell me such things earlier ) I logged off and spent the next couple of days getting over the excitement of actually being in a system with below 0.9 security.
Tuesday morning and I log on again, I start off by chatting with my CEO, after all I need to find out a bit more about this 'PvP' business. It turns out to be really simple, you just go around until you find someone with a red icon on the overview and shoot them until they pop, easy. To cut a long story short I then proceed to spend a lot of time doing this, turns out there are loads of MC around and they are really not that good, sure it takes a while to kill them but eventually they die and with my Gist A small shield booster they find it pretty tough to break my tank. There is one battle though that I would like to elaborate on, I like to call it 'The Battle of E1F'
There I am, hunting for the MC as usual, when I chance upon no less than 5 of them casually sitting in a belt, presumably there to trap the unwary miner or ratter. Without hesitation or delay I engage releasing my drones and letting rip with my railguns. It turns out that they are tanked quite well and in the end it takes me over 7 hours to kill all 5 of them: 3 BS and 2 cruisers, however thanks to my one remaining strip miner I managed to mine 10 cans of omber so at least I still made money :) I learnt some valuable lessons from this enagement:
1) The hulk is exceptionally under rated as a combat ship, it is in fact excellent. 2) The MC are not as good as they think they are and certainly don't fit their ships well (I looted a whole load of rubbish from them, all of it T1) 3) Giving your whole fleet the same name may be confusing for a little while but it doesn't take the enemy long to tag on (they named all their BS 'Angel Warlord', naturally after I realised this I quickly named my hulk angel warlord as well).

So, Ikvar, next time you are tempted to smack please be a bit more thoughtful of the situation. We aren't all 'uber PvP'ers' like you and from the evidence presented it seems to me that you aren't as uber as you would like to think you are. You haven't cost me a single ship yet even though I fight with your pilots on an almost daily basis and now that I see the empire war is ending I'm off back to Rens to carry on my mining so it looks like you never will get my precious Hulk, it was fun while it lasted but tbh Eve is all about the veld at the end of the day.

But unfortunalty there wasn't any major fights for either side, but sometimes that's how things go
