But let me just clear things up for you.
It's WAR. In war, there are no rules. Honor means NOTHING. Welcome, to reality.
As long as CCP allows this game mechanic to stay in place, people are going to use it. PERIOD. It's dishonorable. But then again, so is pirating. So I fail to see the point of FE trying to take the high ground on this one. You guys aren't honorable. You claim to kill frieghters just for the KB. Thats as lame as anything else in eve. And **** near griefing, since you can't make any money doing it the way you did.
However, I happen to agree that logging out needs a MASSIVE nerf. Or it's going to destroy this game.
Let me just put it in clear terms.
I don't give a **** if your computer crashes, or your ISP dies. If you are in space, your ship should be persistant. (remember eve being a persistant world?) No disapearing, WHAT SO EVER. Even if you log in an alt character on the same account. Emergency warp is fine. Or buff ewarp, I don't really care. But your ship disapearing from space is GAME BREAKING.
I apologize in advance... but this needs to be said. If your computer is so unstable that you randomly disconnect on anything like a regular basis, you have problems that need to be FIXED. Good god, take your computer to someone with a brain and let them fix it for you. If your ISP drops your connection more than once a month, CALL THEM AND *****, it will be fixed. Or you should change ISPs. (don't even tell me you can't. because you're full of ****, WIFI, Sat, Cable, DSL, Copper, ISDN, EDGE, G3, at least 2 of these are available in EVERY GOD **** PART OF THE WORLD) I forgot to mention, if your connection drops, your ship doesn't warp for upto 60 seconds (the timeout on the connection), it may be higher, I've never tested it. So you are probably dead before the server even knows you left.
I'm entirely tired of people saying that we need the current log out system to save the poor people that have problems beyond their control. It's total fluff. And here is why. First, the instances of people actually crashing out is at least half the instances of people abusing the system. That all by itself is enough to abolish the system. But wait, there's more. Second, EVE is a harsh game. It's built that way. The hunters have most of the advantages, and thats the way it's supposed to be. There is no 100% safety... except ctrl-q. Isn't that a fairly fundamental flaw?
THE FIX: It's easy to fix this system. Ships become totally persistant. You log out, your ship stays in space. Forever. Leave Ewarp alone. Done. Fixed.
If thats not possible, for whatever reason. Then instead, your ship stays for 30 minutes... NO MATTER WHAT. Along with this, you also need to change it so that when someone logs in their ship doesn't warp on it's own. This will stop people from logging in and out repeatedly to move their ship around.
This would mean that people that crashed would die also. Which was true if they crashed or didn't. (assuming a gate camp)
Only one addition: When you log out or ctrl-q your ship does NOT emergency warp, only when the server detects a disconnect. This will allow people to safely logout inside a bubble. Their ship will then not warp off and people can't kill it unless they destroy the pos first. Otherwise people logging out in a bubble will ewarp, then get scanned and killed.
