CCP changes all norwegian subscriptions from 14.95$ to 19.90Euro or in Norwegian Currency 123 NOK to 184 NOK.
Looks like CCP are doing their best to reduce their player base.
I also want proof of their claims.
according to Norwegian law you can buy products from forign countries for upto 200NOK (or more) without having to pay any aditional tax
So if you going to claim local taxation then please provide us with the proof..........
Billing changes for Norwegian players
Hello,
We would like to announce billing changes that will affect our Norwegian players as of July 1st.
We will need to remit VAT to the Norwegian government as of July 1st. As such, we will need to change the billing currency of all Norwegian users to EUR.
This change will come into effect at the start of July, and from this point onward all Norwegian users will be billed in EUR.
Best Regards, EVE Online Customer Support |

Maybe they incurred the cost while making sure they could not get around it since it was really changed and now they are adjusting the price after finding out they can't get around it. |

Okay, for us non-Europeans, Norway likes their tax money: https://www.taxamo.com/eu-vat-rules-global-plans/
"Some jurisdictions such as Norway, South Africa, Switzerland, and GÇô more recently GÇô the EU have already introduced taxation measures aimed at GÇÿlevelling the playing fieldGÇÖ and recouping tax from non-domestic providers of digital services."
"Norway Norway has been the pioneer when it comes to the taxation of the digital economy with rules introduced back in July 2011. These regulations dictate that digital services supplied by non-established vendors to consumers in Norway (B2C) are subject to Norwegian VAT and the vendor must calculate, collect, and pay the VAT.
As an alternative to ordinary VAT registration, vendors may opt to use a simplified registration scheme. More information here.
The Norwegian Tax Administration has its own web page for the simplified scheme for non-established vendors supplying electronic services to consumers in Norway."

You can buy PLEX for $35, and some sites give you a bonus PLEX for buying enough of them.
I figured it out that you could pay in PLEX at a monthly equivalent cost of $16.79 (14.88 EU / 131.32 NOK) That's based on PLEXing monthly for two years though...
It's similar here in that we pay more "Because Taxes" (nudge, wink) but the discounted CCP long-term packages still work out cheaper. (equivalent 10 EU / 90 NOK @ 12 mth)
If I was paying monthly, I'd still be paying by PLEX bought from US sellers for dollars.
They did change EU tax laws in January this year to mean that digital services get charged VAT in the consumers country - so this change is probably related to that and isn't going to go away. It must apply in Norway too as an EEA member. |

So you don't know whether to dislike CCP or Norway ...over a TAX issue? You know it's governments that raise (and demand) Taxes right? for profit companies don't just up and decide "you know, we need to pay more taxes, and charge people more so that really ticks them off" lol.

That would mean that all EU subscribers should get an increase not just one nation... |

Best Regards, EVE Online Customer Support

Just stop for a second and think how your "problem" feels for somebody in Russia or Ukraine, they have had their currency rates to blummet too, you know(?), it must have made their game more expensive too...

Ummm... I still fail to see any problem here from CCP-¦s part, they have always set prices for each different currency how they see those people are able to pay.
Maybe Norway-¦s currency is now getting a hit, as CCP is receiving less in Russian rubles?

Well it might be an idea for CCP to adjust their subs prices out from the currency value and adjust With the fluxuations. But increasing the prices will only make players stop buying subs.... but again, it has allready happend and it might be a planned move from CCP to increase pricing to make up the loss from lost subs. People have been leaving EVE in much higher grade than few years ago and the playerbase is shrinking.

An increase from 15 euros to 20 euros is NOT a 50% increase, not at all. It's a 33% increase. Calling a 33% increase a 50% increase is worse than calling 20 euros equal to 15 euros (50/30= 1,66; so a 66% increase, while 20/15=1,33 is a 33% increase). Since even with a 66% difference things still equal to you we can deduct that you shouldn't be able to tell a difference when it's only a 33% increase.
So with your math skills I guess you don't have any problem since your subscription didn't change then. You should only notice a difference when it's an increase by at least 66%. |

This topic should have a notice at beginning that EvE has cost already for years for both US (dollar) and EU (euro) player both 15 units of their currency, no matter even bigger fluxuations between them. Guess they were monitoring purchase power of the currency.
I dont believe EvE has ever cost for a Russian 15 dollars or euro-¦s, but "15 of their units".
It is just how things work, Norwaegian can have with that 20 euro about the same as a Finn with 10 euro.
And people from Finland pay 15 euro mont, so in a way, actually more than Norwegians who pay 20 euro.
Get it.
Purchasing power.

To day we pay 14.95 DOLLAR (= 123NOK) and they want to charge us 19.90 EUROS ( = 184NOK)
An increase from 123NOK to 184NOK = 61NOK witch is 49.xx %

technically CCP gets MORE of RUssian RUBles. But they get less converted to dollars. back in March of 2014 i have paid 3499 RUB for 12 month which was about 97 dollars (36 RUB for 1 dollar). Now they ask me to pay 4899 RUB. This is 87 dollars (about 56 RUB for one dollar)
So yes, it's possible that they are trying to rebalance income

I'm just saying, a communist is not a socialist. Learn the difference. Yes the USSR and China bastardidzed the term. an economic Socialist believe that if the economy is a river, that you need regulation to be sure the river doens;t flood and destory the houses, or dry up and everyone dies.
where as a communist will lock up all the water and only send down a cretin amount each year, they basicly build a dam
and a capitalist.. well, its a damn river let it flow.
We may not agree on monetary policy, but use the correct term when discussing issues. And if you are an american you do realize we are a socialist country right? Try wrapping your head around that idea =)

Is it fair that Russians get monthly subscription so cheap compared to EU/USA?
I live in Finland and they just over the border, but I don-¦t feel violated anyway because I had to pay more.

In other news Austrialians pay heaps more than other places for games. Steam charges different prices depending where you are. Video rentals are different in my country... etc.
I currently live in Switzerland. EVERYTHING except eve costs more. Just going to a movie cost 1.5 plex. A beer is about 0.8 plex.
And no a private company does not need to show you anything about why the price went up.

I would first have to belive you when you say I have any kind of poster skill but at the end of the day, you will either pay up and keep playing or shut up and leave.
Well you can also grind ISK to get PLEX and keep playing. That is technically the best option as CCP keeps your sub and you don't pay the new charges. |

Either you belive them or you unsub. I'm pretty sure they won't share their financial ploicies and agreement with various government over taxes and other regulation. For all I know, Canada could be next to be hit and theyre is **** all I could do about it except, as I suggested, pay up, grind or leave.
You expect a privately held company to share their VAT claims numbers with you?

It is clearly documented here (section 4.3), that "The supply of digital products, such as music or software via the Internet, is regarded as the supply of a service."
Maybe this just changed maybe it didn't, the fact of the matter is you do need to pay VAT and CCP had not been previously charging you VAT, someone either demanded it from them, or the lawyers noticed this oversight and made a change to policy to protect the company.

It does not count subscriptions, but 33% drop at online averages in 6 months, just as an example, give some hint about those too.
Remember, it were actually much higher than 35K 6 months ago, as dropping numbers from recent months have dragged also last 6 months number down. |

Im referring to the RATE as in the money we are paying CCP... how long has it been $15 a month?
yeah, from the beginning. so unless CCP's maintenance and operation cost didn't change for the past 10 yrs, subscription rate should have increased together with other products/commodities.

And well, I guess CCP uses that 15 dollar/euro amount as a basic value that they then base other currencies (obviously according to their purchasing power). |

So because they get loss money, they decided to charge more but to only 1 country? Sucks to live in Norway I guess... Who's taking bet on the next country?
I bet for 1 euro/dollar increase for EU/USA (to bring in "softer blow"), should be enough, even more than they could get out from Swiss 50% increase |

When that happens, should it ever happen, you will be right. Since that's not what has happened here, you are wrong. The announcement you've posted does not state what you want it to state.

Master Kent'sslave wrote:never said it was in the op, but if u read my folowing posts as it unfold u can see it No. At no point do you offer any kind of communication from CCP that states anything like what you're suggesting. The closest you get is that you claim that they say this, but aside from that unproven claim, there is nothing to suggest that they actually did and a lot to suggest that you simply failed to understand what they actually said.
But at least it's nice of you to admit that you were wrong about what it said in the OP.

The notion that this is a change in the tax code is entirely your own invention.
Again, the only mystery here is how you managed to get away with not paying it for four years and whether or not CCP now owes the Norwegian government a bundle in back taxes.

Except CCPs cookie-cutter reply to "Hey, why do you charge the same price in EUR as you do in USD considering 1 EUR is worth 20% more than 1 USD" has always been...."Uuumm...well....because.... VAT"
