Back in the heyday of the CA/SA war (while I was in VOTF) these guys lead us to many many many a victory. Xirtam's teamspeak discipline left something to be desired however: MID FLEETBATTLE CA pilot: I need help! I've been jumped at planet 6! Xirt: SHUT THE ** UP! Keep comms clear! I don't give a if you're dying! (30 seconds later) Xirt: Hahahah, oh my god. I just wrecked that guy for like 3000! SUCK MY 1400S *! Holy I'm just raping this guy! CA pilot 2: Eh, whos primary again? Xirt: *in pay attention noob! Nemo me impune lacessit*

However, I have to say that never ever before have I seen such a big number of outstanding fleet commanders in a same group. Sometimes it brings a tear to my eye when I listen to them working all together. It's just so **** cute, I tell you. I still remember the old KIA crew we had together, spearheaded by Eddz who is an excellent troop motivator. That was pretty neat at times. From the northern bunch, naturally the old [G] FCs did an excellent job at kickin butts, as well as the tagteam ( itchy & scratchy.. hehe ) Shirei & Fred0 from CEI. Shirei probably still is one of the best smaller scale fleet tacticians I've seen in EVE. Xirtam is an odd case - like an old bull. Stubborn, unimaginitive and one dimensional.. but he simply doesn't give up. He is pretty good at motivating his blob and talking his guys through the fight. ------------------- -

BoB Molle - For when when we would race from point A - B in battleships, call out our target and drop him before the rest of the fleet would get there. Calculated and disiplined. Blacklight - Well because there going to ****in die. Calculated, and disiplined. Drunken roaming. DBP - Calculated and Disiplined. I miss the old days :(. My personal favorite style of the BEST fleet commander is someone who is not most the calculated but is the most cunning. When you can see the battlefield for what it is and when EVERYONE including yourself has lost control of the actions of the "whole". A true fleet commander will still have the eye of the tiger. When you can see your loosing the battle but are aware of a weakness and position forces to exploit that for the win, instead of, taking the "safe" and calculated route. Any idiot can move gangs around, some up the opposition, choose to engage, jump in then call targets. When your blind, with no intel and "shoot from the hip" coming out on top..your God like.

(1st guy(s) combined cov-ops/ backtracking 1j ahead 2j behind style) , kiaeddz (when his corp was in v for short period), lallante (hunting the russians in his mwding maxskilled apoc ), ryysa (he had only one gear in this brain and it was 5th) spring to mind. There are a few styles to leading a fleet that i enjoy. large scale Motivating Leader and Strategist can get the troops to drop their wcs for dmg mods and provide goals. About 5-10 Target Callers ready to pick up where the last one left the bad sorts of FC that i dislike but sometimes good for large-scale stuff NON-Risk Takers or Over-Causious* these are the guys willing to camp for hours to make it not fun for the over side. doesnt accept losses so they wait for 10:1 ratio# in their favor but i wont tell u guys everything i know -less fun for when the otherside make mistakes.

Not that someone is sad that I don't name them now. It's fun to fly with you. Anyway, it was also really fun to fly with Light Darkness, although he was sometimes a bit suicidal. But he had usually a good nose how to get a good fight. He is a strategist and fighter. Usually it works out well, because he knows what he is doing and if it doesn't work, then all fly home in pods. Besides with V I don't have much experience. But I like the Shinra fleet commanders. They are really experienced to lead a fleet of like 100 people or more. E.g. Lallante, although you risk that he calls you primary, if you don't behave. But he leads really good. I'm quite sure they have a lot more e.g. Chowdown. It's quite cool how they successfully command 100-200 people and make the right decisions like they have never done anything else. I think I could never do that. cdt/con-loss vs. regular log-out. A proposal ...

But what I will commentate is that , for me personaly, good FC is not the guy with good statistic in fights, but the one I can relax and have fun with while fyling. Fights are won not only becouse of FC's , but pilots that know mostly what to do and what not to do. There are some ppl I would fight with , even though I know I will die. On the other hand there are some ppl I woudlnt fly mutch even though I know I will have many kills. But thats just my philosohpy...Im one of wierd guys Darth Solo=McCready...in different package

Small gang warfare : - Cleisthenes2 for his motivation and fearless will. - Christo (from G) I always saw him in cov ops and somehow it was a great cloaked-battle vs him and myself. - DP LIP back in the GNW (souvenirs) yarring and screaming his typical "gogogogogo" was so funny. Large gangs (aka Fleets) : - Shrike (daddy molle) with no doubt possible since my first battle with EVOL in GW (I was so impressed I had only one goal : join them). - Unseen? (from G) you could notice a difference when he was there. Sidenote : Adam C, I've been very surprised by your comment. Cov ops pilots tends to never be mentioned. Smart (and pleasant) analysis.

A very large part of the success in a gang is nothing to do with who is the FC but rather it is the people that make up the gang. If you look at those listed they all lead or are part of old succsssful pvp corps. Put any half decent lead in charge of an 0utbreak gang and you would have great success because people know what to do without a lot of hand holding. Try FCing a gang where half the gang is not aligned, you have terrible intell and no-one shoots primary, make a success out of that kind of mixed bag (like Deathgrip from DDC does or Mex FX used to) and you truly are worthy of accolades.
