A while back there was a thread that provided snippets of information that helped many thousands of pilots. What was obviouse key for some was new information for others.
While most of the information can be found somewhere on the forums, it was helpfull having one thread with simple one liners of key information that may make somones day a bit better, and as a lot has changed since the original post I think there is information, updates, new changes that may have passed some by and they are just not aware of.
So to start us off:
- When in space, you can drag your central display (Capacitor, Shield, Armour, Structure) to the right or left to suit your preference. |

The onscreen location of your locked up targets can indeed be moved. You'll want to find a small, white indicator that can be dragged wherever the heck you want it to be. Your targets are anchored to it.

If a target's angular velocity is greater than your equipped turret's tracking speed then surely you're going to miss.
As such, must have dislplayed columns in your overview for any turreted ship are: Range (can my guns reach out that far?) Velocity Angular velocity (can my guns keep up?) Radial velocity (is he moving towards or away from me?)

can I play? here are a few things I can think of which I'm not sure everyone knows of:
- "snapped" windows can be moved together by holding down shift
- there is a compare tool (news to some people :P), you open it from the variation tab in info windows. When it's open you can drag stuff to it.
- you can open many info windows (either by changing setting in ESC window or holding shift down while you click "show info")
- if you drag the solarsystem menu thingy (above your route) to any edit field, you create a link to your solarsystem
- there are shortcuts for almost all windows and combat commands
- you can add whole categories/groups from the market to the quickbar by right clicking them and select "add group to quicbar root/folder"
- when sending mail to your corp or alliance, you can write "corp" or "alliance" in the TO field and it will be converted to the name of the corp/alliance
- you can sort your mails by assigning them labels. Each mail can have many different labels.
- holding ctrl down freezes the overview
- you can display the session change timer
- you can drag stuff from your hangar to the ship/item button in the neocom and it will be moved to the hangar
- there are filters in the settings tab in the market window. There you can filter out orders, but also filter the list on the left hand side so it won't show you stuff you cannot use on your current ship or don't have the skills for
- the search field in the asset window has some clever advanced search functionality (was a devblog on it recently)
- you can group a few thing together in the necom (right click empty space in the neocom and go to "configure")
- you can import songs in the jukebox
- the calculator is awesome
- when in space, if you click something and hold the mouse down, you get some action panel
- you can zoom better in on things by holding down the right mouse button, move the mouse a little bit up or down, and then hold down the left mouse button (holding both down) and move the mouse up.

After hitting the warp button a ship will warp once it reaches 3/4 of its maximum velocity. That is at the 3rd vertical line from the left on your speed indicator.
Want to warp fast? Make sure you are aligned to your destination at 3/4 of max. velocity and hit warp.
You can adjust cruise velocity by clicking on the speed indicator. |

If you click on the first name in local, then shift click on the last name in local all the names in local will become highlighted. Then when someone enters local you can instantly tell who it was as they are not highlighted.
( for scouts etc ) if you train up deep space probes you can enter new system, click warp to next gate and then drop one probe before your ship gets into warp. Set probe to 256au, click scan and in seconds you will have a list of all anoms, sigs, structures, drones and uncloaked ships in the system.
you can magically carry more m3 than your ships cargo size by using containers. 4 small containers take up 400 m3 space in your cargo but can fit 480 m3 into them. |

I had actully forgotten that this existed i probably haven't used it for more than three years!
my one:
There is no such thingas "passive align" when your ship is stationary it has no vector the graphical direction of your ship is an arbitrary direction chosen by your client. you can be pointing 180 from your destination and it will have zero effect on your time to warp unless your speed is greater than zero M/S. |

I wish people would stop saying this.
No, you do not have to be moving to launch a bomb successfully.
When bombs were first introduced they only had the velocity your ship imparted to them, this was changed.
Now, when you launch a bomb if fly's away from you for 30km and detonates (10 seconds after launch) regardless of your velocity.
Revenge should not stop at the ship!

Missile range is not absolute.
Your Missiles take time to accelerate taking off your range and if your target is moving your missiles have to catch up to them. If they are 100km and your Missiles can travel 80km if they travel 20km towards you they will hit, if they are 60km away and move 20km away from you the missile will run out of fuel.
This is not related to the current position of your ship, once the Missile is launched there is its start point and it will then accelerate towards the target the same regardless of what ship is doing. You do not have to hit a target to get credit for it, the simple act of hitting the launch button will incur aggro, and spot on the killmail.
Speaking of killmails BTW. if you hit a ship and warp off grid you still get on the kill mail as well as after your ship explodes. If you jump or dock though you loose credit.
Edit: Unaware if missiles and bombs will hit targets even if you warp off grid. Can someone clue me in. |

Would be nice if it had thousands separator. I am aware that CCP pilots probably never calculate profits that have more than 3-4 digits so this has never come up before, but there are those of us that actually sometimes use it for calculating figures that involve tens of billions and always end up disappointed. At least these days you can just open the integrated browser and fire up Google Docs spreadsheet but that is quite a bit of :effort: for a single calculation.

If you like to chat on other channels, then you can drag local channel out of the chat window and place it in another position on the screen. I also recommend to resize the local window so that it can show many ppl in the right column. Reduce the horizontal size to minimum and try to maximize the vertical size.

DON'T ******* MOVE
instead, stay calm and assess the situation. You are not on the grid or visible in space for 60 seconds unless you move. All they see is the gate flashes, and you appear in local (chat).
- what are they doing (most of the time other ships are travelling as well, and they either warp on their way or jump through) - what ships they are in - where are they (in point range or not, moving at what speed and where) - what are you in
Then decide whether you can try to warp before they react, burn back to the gate, do the cloak+mwd trick, or proceed kicking their spacebutts? |

Missiles : Missiles in flight to target will miss the instant you enter warp. Bombs : They will continue their flight and explode when you warped off. You can warp the instant you launched. Often it is claimed this is not so, but those people's bombs are hitting gates or containers before travelling 30 km and then they will fizzle instead of explode. So launch and warp. If you jump or dock, the bomb will fizzle as well.

When using guns with low RoF, such as Artillery, unstack them and activate each with a short delay in between.
This way, you're able to shoot at a new target earlier, instead of having to wait for all (stacked) guns to complete the cycle and doing nothing.
This also saves you ammo. (works with missiles too) Inappropriate signature removed. Spitfire |

If you want to sell an item at the cheapest price, don't try to be the cheapest of the whole system.
Instead, sort the orders by jumps and set your order to be the cheapest within a few jumps.
This way, you're the cheapest "locally" and still can make more money than by being the cheapest "globally".

Whatever you do, you can always get more money doing something else !
This means, by doing something that gains you less money than something else, (which happens most of the time) whatever it is you're doing ... it costs you money.

No, you do not have to be moving to launch a bomb successfully. When bombs were first introduced they only had the velocity your ship imparted to them, this was changed. Now, when you launch a bomb if fly's away from you for 30km and detonates (10 seconds after launch) regardless of your velocity. It "is" true that it is always a good idea to be moving when you launch a bomb. It launches straight ahead of you so be careful not to over run it. Best practice is to have a warp out point dialed up and ready located directly on the opposite side of your target from where you are. That way you are already aligned and at speed to warp immediately after you decloak and launch. Bombs will detonate (as long as you do not cloak or leave system prior to detonation) whether you are on grid with it or not. You can now see the detonation point and radius by hovering your mouse over your bomb launcher in tactical view.
Im sure i read a recent forum thread in which is was proved that you need to be moving for a bomb to launch.
It makes sense, because if you are not moving, the game doesnt know which way is 'forward' to launch your bomb. |

CCP karkur wrote:can I play? here are a few things I can think of which I'm not sure everyone knows of:
- you can drag stuff from your cargo to the ship/item button in the neocom and it will be moved to the hangar
The first one was the only one I didn't know about =D
And btw the neocom one no longer applies, but I know what you were talking about, I was probably one of the only people that had that extra category that grouped the market, science and industry, fitting and the militia office on the old neocom
Here's mine: You can right click the capacitor display in the HUD for a quick way to get to the context menu for your own ship. Works great when trying to fumble for the eject button of a T3 cause you don't have to move your camera to find your ship visibly to click it.

* You can check "Force Field" in your overview settings to quickly check whether the POS's that show up on your d-scan are actually maintained (useful in wormholes). If you have a filter for POS modules in your overview, you can also check that upon discovering a POS without a force field to see if there are any fragile items like corp hangars and SMA's hanging out all defenseless like. Hey, it happens
* Speaking of the overview, you can open overview settings even while docked if you type "/open_overview_settings" in chat. You can do lots of things like this with the right text command, actually, but I find the overview one to be the most useful. Remember, a badly setup overview can mean you go boom before you know it. You can add up to 5 tabs to your overview to toggle between filters quickly.
* Make docking bookmarks at stations you dock at often, if warping to zero to those stations lands you outside the docking range. These bookmarks work best if they are somewhere very close to the structure while well within "0" range from station.
* Don't warp gate to gate around Rancer Make a bookmark somewhere not in line with a gate or a celestial and always warp there first, then to the gate. Otherwise it's "back to jita kid"
* If you want to warp to an object at a specific distance not covered in the default "warp within [n] km" options, you can select an object you can warp to, then right click the "warp" button and type in the desired distance. Don't forget that you changed it though, change it back when done.
* To deliver multiple industry jobs that are ready and in your skill-based control range, select all the ready ones and hit "Deliver".
* You can burn out your capacitor by initiating and cancelling warp multiple times to give you greater control over bookmark placement in space.
* You can place command centers on planets from anywhere in orbit even when cloaked.
* View contents of any non-password protected container, and any ship in your assets by right-clock -> view contents.
* The only way to make your cargo containers unscannable with cargo scanners is to put stuff in cargo container, then create a courier contract for that container (or multiple containers). The can is what will show up on the cargo scanner, not the contents. Other methods, excluding the Orca corp hangar, don't work (yes, even "audit log secure containers", srs.)
* You can transport assembled ships in your freighter if you accept them as a courier contract.
* DCUs are not stack nerfed for resists, unlike, say, EANMs. |

Sure! Ehm, there's no "spoiler" type function on the forums I think, so--long list, enjoy! Also, another tip that's relevant is that when in chat, ctrl+up arrow brings up stuff you said before, like when using a console interface. The irony is that some of these commands are actually simpler to use than going through the Neocom if it's not something you use often and thus don't have it on the top level.

Hmm, I think what that fix was about had to do with NPC police scanning cargo for illegal goodies. True, now Orcas are no longer the boostermobile. AFAIK players' cargo scanners still can't get their corp hangar contents, or ship maintenance bay contents. My Orcas are locked away outside of k-space so I can't test this right now, but if someone wants to please do so |

Sniping 101
Using modules which lower your signature radius are great for sniping battle ships as they make you harder to probe.
Having Velocity and Angular Velocity columns on your overview will help you better pick a target to shoot at while sniping.
Interdiction ships cannot warp cloaked so have your directional scan open and set to a distance that provides you enough time to warp off if they get too close.
Using tracking enhancers instead of damage modifiers can many times increase your damage more depending on your target.

Group chats with local, corp, and alliance to make them "uncloseable". Grouping them with these chats makes them only minimizable.
When using dscan click on your ship to make a small solid square bracket appear on it. Aim your dscan at celestials through that bracket. It is the key to being able to pull off 15 degree scans and nail down that someone is at a specific belt or moon.
If you want to have the number of people in local you can keep local off to a separate window and then double click the window at the top. This puts it into a pseudo minmized mode that maintains the channel name and number of people in it as if in the full window. Double click again to restore. This can be done with a lot of other windows as well.
A lot of windows have a '?' button at the top that opens a quick access list of items and link to evelopieda articles and such on how to do things within that window, for instance the Science and Industry window would feature stuff on how to manufacture.
Since Crucible, fleets can have a MOTD, so set one with info about what to bring and what system they need to goto so that they can see it as soon as they join.
Fleet leaders and the boss can view "Fleet Composition" to see which ships, what system, and how much skill each member has in the 3 main fleet skills (Leadership, Wing Command, and Fleet Command)
Double clicking a planet int he list of planets in the S&I window will automatically open it up into planet view for you. (Allowing you the ability to skip the right click and selecting view in planet mode)
You can set any "Warp to" distance by right clicking the button and typing in a number in meters. This can let you warp in exactly at optimal instead of kinda close. The Drake is a Lie |

When in wormholes, set dscan to maximum distance include probes on your overview and spam it continuously. Some 'holers can't be bothered to track you down the hard way and so you might survive.
Following on from this, if you see probes, they ARE hunting you down. Panic.
When in wormholes, expect to die. A covert ops fleet can decloak, lock and point you before you've even hit the button to start aligning.
When carebearing in losec, watch local. If it has someone who isn't blue, green or purple then you should be sat at a safespot, preferably cloaked. Failing this, spam dscan more.
Not all 'holers are inglorious wolves there to eat your ship alive. If you don't want a fight, check to see if diplomats/directors of the corp living in the wormhole you're ninja'ing and talk to them. They'll either tell you that you'll get a fight, or tell you to go ahead. Some people are stupid enough just to run ladar and gravi. On that note, all wolves have a price. Sometimes it isn't your killmail. Local is there for a reason: begging for your life IS one of them. |

I also recommend to resize the local window so that it can show many ppl in the right column. Reduce the horizontal size to minimum and try to maximize the vertical size. This shot can be a good example: Image
Also do this is empire if you are at war with another group of players.
Also, try and get all those hostiles in your contacts on the watch list. You will see them as being dec'd to you regardless, but it's nice to know they're online.
Lastly, if there is a WT in local and you do not know where they are, do not undock in something slow and/or expensive. Chances are you will get blown up, and your corp/alliance will yell at you. |

-If some guy jumps in to your mission site, starts salvaging AND looting he will become red skull for you witch means you can shoot him, but by doing this you will give him the right to shoot you back for 15min.
What to do in this case?
-If you shot his alt/own crapy T1 frigate and he ran away: warp yourself to some previous mission site, celestial, POS or just bounce between those for 30sec, you can then warp yourself to the station and dock up.
-Don't shoot the blinky guy !!! -he's not there for your loot or salvage, he's only there to scout your ship looking for pimpy items, get your agresssion by any means and once he has it you'll see him jump in his uber faction/officer fitted pvp set up and kill you in a matter of seconds, all this just to loo some stuff and sometimes just to show a stupid isk ration KB that only himself and other stupid guys like him fap in front of.
-You can choose to kill the trigger if he's close to the next spawn, with a little bit of chance he'll get scramed webbed and being in pvp setup you'll se it melt like butter. Just screen shot his stupidity and make a good link in your Bio, eventually link it everytime he shows in local.
1st never use ships that you can't afford to loose
2nd if you know you're going to mission for a wile in those systems adn around pick a ceptor or the fastest frigate you can fit/use, make at least 3 security BM's if possible at around/over 60 AU
3rd never shoot the crappy high sec pussie piwate, he's harmeless if you completely ignore his ego and you'll probably see it convo you or cry in local, collect his rivers of tears because you didn't agressed him. Profit and make fun of him in local, he'll get mad because he's ridiculous, well, he just found someone else that noticed too.

You can drag fittings onto the market quickbar so you don't have to go hunting for modules in the main market view! (you need to add ammo seperately though)
You can set priorities in the overview window for both icon and background for instance: For background I have 1. Fleet 2. Corp 3. Alliance
For Icon I have: 1. Corp 2. Fleet 3. Alliance
This way it makes it easier to see where my corp mates are in massive fleets. having a little green square on a purple background.

In addition to this.. Scrolling the wheel in any number-place will make it go up or down. If you do a "hard scroll" it will go down by a large amount, while a "soft scroll" gives you more control.
If you want to search for every T2 item on the market, open your Market->Search, and type " ii" (excluding quotationmarks). Please note that some tags and a bit of random other things will also appear.
You can filter items (in the market overview) by skills, cpu/pwg and untrained skills (useful if you don't feel like scrolling over the skills you already have trained). You can also turn off auto-refresh (this is useful when modifying a large amount of orders in rapid succession)
On another note, You can set up audio alerts w.r.t your shield/armor/hull percentage. You can also turn them off, without turning any other sound off. (Three/four bar-thingie, audio alerts)
Right-clicking modules will allow you to toggle Auto-Repeat (and -Reload, where applicaple) on and off.
If you're using multiple clients, this link might help! (using symlinks will also create seperate settings folders in your default "C:\ProgramData\CCP\EVE" and C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\CCP\EVE, with names related to the name of the symlink-folders)
In general, EVElopedia is a GREAT source of information. If it lacks some information, you can then google it (oh, and feel free to create/modify pages if they're inaccurate, although YARR might get angry with you if you abuse this privilige (sp))
"Pinning" something does not mean it is pinned to it's location, it merely becomes transparent.
You can fleet yourself, by right-clicking your own name and hitting "form fleet with..." - however, you will not get bonuses when you're alone. (No need to have an alt online)
There are a BUNCH of handy short-cuts that (nearly) nobody knows about. (but this has already been mentioned) One such is CTRL+W (that we all know and love from our browsers) to close the currently active window. Or CTRL+PgDn and CTRL+PgUp to switch between tabs, CTRL+Tab to switch between windows (you'll also find the very useful "hide/show all windows"), SHIFT+Tab to "fold" all windows, and the list goes on.
I, myself, prefer "E" for "drones engage" and "R" for "return to dronebay". I also prefer "Z" for "need shields" and "X" for "in position".
...And that's about all I could think about. |

That's only on Tuesdays and Wednesdays UTC. On Mondays, Thursdays, and alternate Fridays you have to reverse the key-sequence: CLICK SHIFT to have all your cargo reprocessed, and C ALT to open the cargo folder. On every second Friday you have to double-click in space to bring up the Invetory Pre-Access context menu, then press SHIFT CLICK ALT C while moving the mouse or pointing device around a circular axis perpendicular to the screen to open the cargo folder. The folder will remain closed.
At the weekends cargo folders can only be opened with a unique "mystery combination", with prizes from the NeX store on offer each weekend to the first pilot's to correctly figure out the new way of opening folders. |

That just turns my afterburner on and off :(
Oh wait... I see what you did there ;)
Tip - If you target Vasily Bath in a 1400 fit tornado and press F1, he drops modules

You can hit CTRL+SPACE to cancel warp (faster than clicking and thus works sometimes better, when you are almost warping already).

A little necro to have some useful stuff on page 1
Ajita al Tchar wrote: * Speaking of the overview, you can open overview settings even while docked if you type "/open_overview_settings" in chat. You can do lots of things like this with the right text command, actually, but I find the overview one to be the most useful. Remember, a badly setup overview can mean you go boom before you know it. You can add up to 5 tabs to your overview to toggle between filters quickly.
Brilliant!

I think CCP should do more work on how chat channels are handled to allow us to manage chat channels freely, without having to use this trick.
Another chat channel tip: To condense char list in channels with a lot of players right click channel tab and choose 'show compact member list' (showing player icons in member list is useless anyway).
In General Options you can select to ' merge items and ships into station panel' |

- you can open many info windows (either by changing setting in ESC window or holding shift down while you click "show info")
This is a new one for me and I like it. +1

If you have local as a separate window, save space and see more players by right clicking the tab and selecting "Show compact member list".
This will remove their avatars and display people in local as a text-only list. |
