I totally agree.
I'm a freighter pilot - I know how totally frustrating they are, but theres a reason they're that slow - its something to do with having nearly 7 figures of cargo capacity. I'm going to use it because its there, and having flown out today it makes freighter usage take half the time it used to, but thats not to say I think it should be there.
With that said, instas were broken, and finding some mechanism that makes everyone ditch them was required. I just think that the solution shouldn't have been to negate a large chunk of the distinction between small fast ships and large lumbering slow ships.

The distinction is in their slowness to move at sub-light speed. There shouldn't be a distinction on moving at warp and/or if they can come in close just because they're bigger then most ships.

I wanted to wait till I was able to test out Warp to 0km before I started to remove my BM's; had to make sure it worked. In 9/10 cases the new Warp to 0km is far better then my instas. Why the hell would I bother keeping them now! WTG CCP! I for one, think is the greatest addition to EVE :)
Time it takes my 900+ m/s Shuttle to go 3 jumps and dock Time it takes my 200 m/sec Indy to go 3 jumps and dock Time it takes my 74 m/sec Covetor to go 3 jumps and dock ALL THE SAME!! (besides the time it takes to warp, and thats seconds not minutes)
Used to take over 15 minutes for my Indy to fillup from my Covetor out in a belt, warps to dock, 4 mins to dock, leave doc, jump back, 4 mins to get back to Covetor.
NOW! Fill up..WTZ Dock!..Dock..Leave Dock..WTZ Gang Member!.. Round Trip..Less than a Minute! ROCK!!
Courier Missions: Instead of sitting there bored off your skull you actually get to continually do something when hopping from station to station..

While speed differences in travel are mostly removed , ship agility is the new exposure indicator - and the MWD is now useful to get away from a camped gate before warping. Gone are the days of slamming the gate as a pod...
Things are inverted now - people will expect gate camps on jump in , but bubbles are still there for the way out. Autopilot users die regardless , as always.

I like WTZ very much. Much less time wasted travelling (autopilot 4tl), much faster getting into the action. Thank you, CCP.

i still hate them
why do you think jita and most of the surrounding systems and other "trade hubs" have o much problems with queues? Because everyone and their dog will fly the many jump to get to the markets as its so easy.
less difficulty in travelling -> more traffic jams.
also its nearly eliminating the difference between small and large ships - makes their non-warp speed meaningless.
I'd have been ok with a warp to 5 or something, but would prefer warp to 20 or something, and make it IMPOSSIBLE to get out of warp close to celestial objects (ie, doesn't matter where you make a bookmark, cannot exit warp if close than 20k )

I've been of the opinion, and am still, that WTZ is a negative change to EVE.
I want ships to have speed differentiation. It means there's actually a reason to fly a cruiser. It means there's a reason to fly a fast hauler (or blockade runner) rather than just stuff it with as many Cargo Expander IIs as you can.
I want long travel routes to take a long time. Virtually all of the EVE economy is player driven. Thus the profitability of something is directly proportional to time and effort involved.
I want markets to _de_ centralise. I think having everything on the market in The Forge be in Jita is really not a good thing. But have a look at the regional market some time. Fast travel forces more travel.
Most combat in EVE, like it or not, is at gates or stations. I don't like getting pirated, no one does, but it's one of the factors that makes the game interesting. Likewise if I'm trying to chase a pirate, I'd rather not have the 'chase' defined by faster clicking on the insta, and locktimes on our ships.
Instas were always broken gameplay. Recently I heard whining that people "couldn't" move around 0.0 without instas. It's entirely incorrect, I have been there, and done that, fueling 5 POS towers 10 jumps into 0.0, in a badger II. It's not that hard, you just have to chose a ship/fit where you're actually considering the speed of it.
An afterburner/MWD IMO _shouldn't_ be a 'get out of bubble' module. It should be a general purpose one.
*shrug* lost this argument, but I do hope that people will start to see the negative impact that warp to zero brings. Sadly I think not, since there's just far too many who've become utterly dependant on the crutch that is instas.

I think warp to 0 is awesome. I'm new to Eve and had just started setting up instas in the lowsec systems near where my home base is. Everyone kept saying "don't use instas you're causing lag", but I couldn't help it - gatekampers FTL - plus I watched everyone else doing it. Thanks for warp to 0 CCP!

I <3 WTZ, however CCP would do well to differentiate warp speeds to bring travel times back into consideration.
Not so much because I want longer travel times, but because these whiners who think a ship's speed across the galaxy should be determined by how long it takes to cross 15km at each gate do my head in.

what would be perfect would be if the "warp speed" was a multiple of your actual speed. so the speed affecting modules (like overdrives, remember them?) or cargo expanders would make a difference.
If a hauler sets up for speed (overdrives, nanos, mwd/ab) they should have an advantage over a hauler who fits maxed out cargo expanders - they should be able to make 2+ trips for every one by the maxed out bigger cargo hold.
Also a battleship fitted with nano's overdrives, mwd etc, should get to the battlefield significantly faster (10-20 min) than the fully capable combat ship.
If they can make this a reality with only changes to warp speeds, then i am 100% for it.

its not the 15km thats the important bit.
its that your setup and ship chiuce should effect how quickly you get to the destination.
If i want to get stuff somewhere fast, use something smaller and faster. If i have a complete POS worth of minerals to move - should use a frieghter.
That the freighter can now make the trip about the same time as a small speed fitted industrial is silly.

You ever used a freightor?
Time to move is the time it takes to align, the time in warp and the time to jump.
Freightor pilots use instas anyway, I dont know a single freightor pilot that does not use instas. Warp to ) makes no difference in that case.
Secondly, you really think that traveling 100au at 0.7au/sec in a freightor is the same as 3au a sec of a Industrial? 142 seconds in warp vs 33 seconds in a industral are the same??
You are aware that dozens of insta using freightors have been KILLED because of the long warp time, giving the hostiles time to get into position? --- Slot 10 Akemons Modified 'Noble'Zet 5000 implant +8% Armour FREE |
