Some of us have been worried for a couple of years about the declining population of eve, we tried to speak but we only got back trolling (eve is dying since 2004 blah blah). By now though most people have realised the rapidly declining user base is a fact.
However, no one knows that better than CCP, yet we don't see any serious effort to revitalise the game. Fixes and balance tweaks can get you so far and you won't convince more people to go to null no matter how lucrative you make it. The problem with null is the people that it attracts, the people that live there and the sooner they realise that the better. Eve desperately needs fundamental changes and new content and with the rate CCP is releasing updates I just don't see that happening before the game dies.
Could it be that CCP have realised how badly they messed up? They realised that Eve is old and there is no time to fix it. Instead they have gone into self preservation mode and have been stashing most of their income ( why the sudden influx of skins?) so they can fund the development of a whole new game. A new start without the outdated mechanics of Eve. They can even get some support from kickstarter. Would you give them such support? |

you must be blind or is it because the fixes are not directly aimed at your activities/playstyle?
or is this stealth for needing more pve activities or being spoonfed some more content?

How come? We're not allowed to talk about the possibility of a new game from CCP? No wonder these forums are desolate. |

A similar thing happened with WoW. Once Blizzard realised large swathes of their playerbase were stupid enough to throw money at them in return for sparkly flying mounts and server transfers the number of microtransactions increased but the quality of the actual game decreased. |

CCP had a lucky shot with EVE. I don't think they would be able to replicate that. Look at their idiotic decisions on all their other games.
Dust 514: Released on a dying platform with underwhelming performance, graphics and gameplay (seriously, I tried it, it is horrible)
World of Darkness: Bschhh?
Valkyrie: Based on some 3D googles stuff no one has and few ever will purchase. Feeds on a "WOAH SPACE!" effect which fades after 30min and then it probably just becomes annoying to wear this ******* googles.
You really think a company like that can make an EVE 2.0?
They actually do a good job at fixing EVE. All they have to do is stay out of the sandbox and balance and fix stuff.

Better open your eyes than. Changes are done and serious, Fozzy Sov is quite a big change. Seekers / Drifters show greater changes to PvE, where E-Pirates get smarter AI. You can expect that those AI will slowly replace the other ones.
This "Brain in a Box" is what someone might call EvE 2.0 where some of the serverprogramms are rewritten, some part is moved from python to c++.

Unfortunately, I agree with you but if they want to put a stop to a declining userbase they need to make bigger changes than just fixing existing mechanics. Eve is a sandbox and without people the game loses its meaning.
Angelica Dreamstar wrote:Oh and does anyone else notice the familiarity to the character from yesterday and the similar writing style?
Sorry to disappoint you but I don't have the spare time you do, you'll find that out as you grow older and take responsibilities. I make a couple of posts per month when I feel like I have something worthwhile to say. |

It would be much easier to list things that don't need to be changed. CCP just needs to work harder for their size the content upgrades are far too small. They can also start listening to their players and not cater to certain playstyles (recent nullsec wh change for example). Expansions the size of apocrypha or even bigger need to become the norm again. |

Btw, your "worthwhile to say" is the same we read hundreds of times already. Your ignorance ian't even funny. Just like the last guy do you have nothing new to bring to the table, yet feel you deserve your own thread and don't even DARE to verify the redundancy!
It's not worthwhile just because you think it is, no matter how many alts you all come up with.

Someone stole my idea
I wish you all the luck OP...you will need it...to try to have a civil discussion about something constructive...
PM to forum moderators: You should lock this thread also. In fact you should lock all threads that could even have a remote chance of leading to a discussion of some sorts. That is definitely not what forums on the internet are for. No...they are only for throwing flowers at each other and only discussing things that we all agree on...doh.
Especially things like game design should never be discussed in the forums (!) as these are bound to lead to people actually having different thoughts.
Also you should take some random phrase from the rules. Especially the one about "trolling" or something. Pretty much everything can be squeezed into that one.
Also you should definitely never point fingers at any of the rude posters around here (their feelings might get hurt) that are destroying all of the threads and especially ones that they don't fancy or where they hold a different standpoint of that of the original poster.
It is much easier to continue and lock threads.
Sarcasm off.

Going to re-post something I wrote earlier as I refuse have it sent to some internet graveyard somewhere:
Quote:With more graphic combat where you CAN control the ship easier and standardised viewpoints and battle-grids.
Less player power. I know player power and all that bla bla bla but in the end if there is too much player power the game will get stale (sooner or later). So more co-op but less "massive" focus.
Basically do an Elite Dangerous but "do it right". The EVE way.
