I wonder if a rokh is any good running a mixture out of level 3 and 4 missions. Are tech2 Drones sufficient to take care of all those pesky little swarms of frigs and cruisers on 3s?
Running them in a Raven is plain boring. Was waiting for something gunnery based all along. So.
Drones? Blasters for L3's? Are prototype 350s ok?
Am thinking about this:
8x 350mm Proto
1x XL-SB2 2x Invul 1x Tracking Computer 1x Cap Booster (800) 1x Shield Boost Amp
3x PDU2 2x MagStab2
3x CCC or maybe Hardeners and drop 1 invul. Antimatter sucks the cap dry pretty quickly though. --- Also a Destroyer specially fitted for looting and Salvaging.
It's nothing fancy and the CapBooster is certainly not needed @ Level3's it saved my ass several times in L4's or when the YARRR-people find me. ;) I get kindof good at the "bookmark-jumpout-jumpin100" thingy.

i'm currently using a rokh with the following setup
8x 350MM railgun II
1x Named 100MN Afterburner, 2x Active Hardener II (damage specific, 1x tracking computer II, X-Large Shield Booster II, 1x Shield Boost Amp II.
1x DCU (possibly II), 2x Mag Field Stab. II, 2x PDU II
for Rigs: Cap recharge rig (15% Recharge Increase) Hybrid Weapon Tracking Rig Shield Booster Cap Reduction Rig
I can track at 0.02 RAD which pretty good, my skills allow me for some nice resistance even with only a few hardeners. -=-=-=-=-=-=-= SIGNATURE =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

I've used an Apocalypse as a pirate squad boobytrap in the past - sit in a belt with one mining laser fired at a roid, when the pirates turn up to gank the poor old mining Apoc, I "panic" and cloak. They close to bust the cloak and then I let off my 6 smartbombs.
It's a bit of a one-trick pony (though DEVASTATING against mobs of small ships)...I was just wondering if doing the same trick with a Rokh would have any advantages?
And you may call me lame if you wish...I think it's more lame to gank ONE ship when you're in a fleet of ten... ---

Is it possible to have the rokh as a passive shield tanker? I will be using 4 launchers 4 turrets and i know what you will all be saying, however im not buying a raven as it is ugly, i dont care how long it takes to do missions, and i like using both missiles and turrets so i want an equal mixture.
i was going to replicate my drake setup onto teh rokh but i fear the cap wont be sufficent for the turrets.

Well i did some number crunching with quick fit, which i realise isn't spot on but it's a good guide.
i did a set up with 8 t2 425mm and a set up with 4 t2 425s and 4 t2 cruise.
425's loaded with anti and i tried all 4 different types of ammo for the launchers, all the same, mix of all 4 ect.
So heres what i came up with. 8 425's have a dps of 363, 4/4 slot combo has a dps of 265 max, it goes lower with differen ammo types.
i did the 6/2 slot layout which was a bit better comming in at 292 dps.
the 8 turret layout had 3 mag stab 2's. the 4/4 and 6/2 layout has 2 mag stab 2's and 2 bcu 2's.
my skills are at lvl 5 for every gunnery skill for rails including large rail spec 5. Missle skills are simular with 5 in each(this part was edited in by quick fit).
I donno if there's somthing i'm missing as i don't use missles, but if there was a way to squeeze more dmg out i wanted to know. ------FD------

Lv4 Mission running passive Rokh (just an idea and has not been tested)
Hi- 4x T2 HAMS 4x T2 1200mm Artillery Cannons
Med- 2x T2 XL Shield Extender 2x T2 Shield Recharger 2x T2 Rat-Specific Resistance Amplifiers
Low- 1x T2 Tracking Enhancer 1x T2 Gyrostabiliser/Heat Sink 2x T2 Ballistic Control 1x T2 Shield Power Relay or 1x T2 Ballistic Control 2x T2 Shield Power Relay
Rig- Open to suggestions Reason why is because i prefer passive to active, means i have to worry less and concentrate more on whats going on lol, it also seems superior to active setups. HAMS are because the Artillery which pack the punch will become useless at a certain range which allows the HAMS to kick in and do the damage quicker.
Perhaps it will be better to use Cruise instead but what would I use to hit those annoying frigates? Perhaps swap one Artillery Cannon out for one Autocannon?

Well only because the bonuses dont go for it I would not use HAM's or Artillery, if u want art try smaller rails or some blasters. and the HAM's like you said I would swap for Cruises. (skill permitting) I assume you are specced for artillery though so with the right skills you can do anything.

Ive done most level 4 in a rokh (on a different char). Forget tanking it. You are not going to take any damage at all really.
Use the rokh main strength, range. You fit the ship for 100km (about) shooting. At this range, no npc will hit you and you can, more or less, one volley the frigs first, then cruisers. You just have to make sure you stay at range. You dont want to tank, your guns will eat so much cap there be none to tank with really, so dont bother. This is the fit i used.
8x guns. 350mm or 425mm, both works its a matter of taste imho.
1x 100mn AB <- IMPORTANT, this si how you get to range and keep at range. 1x shield booster <- If something goes terrible wrong and you need to warp out, feels good to have it. 1 or 2 x sensor boosters. <- one is enough for getting targetting range, two if you want to lock fast. the rest of your midslots should be tracking comps.
low slots, PDS ehough so you can fit the guns then magstabs in the rest. I used lead charges most of the time. works fine.
If you got the isk, 3x cap recharge rigs. Your guns will eat up your carp. with 3x these three rigs you can run 8 425mm iwth AM and not run out of cap.

It's great that range is its strength but the problem with it is that alot of missions you find youself warping right onto of enemies. With the 100mn im sure you could do a ranged setup though.

Edited by: Ryoji Tanakama on 22/03/2007 13:34:30 This is my current Rokh setup:
High Slots: 8 x 425mm Railgun II with Antimatter L (edit for ammo type) Mid Slots: 1 x XL Shield Booster II 1 x Heavy Capacitor Booster II 1 x Capacitor Recharger II 1 x Magnetic Scattering Amplifier II 1 x Kinetic Deflection Amplifier II 1 x Heat Dissipation Amplifier II Low Slots: 1 x Damage Control II 3 x Magnetic Field Stabilizer II 1 x Reactor Control Unit II Drones: 5 x Vespa II
I also have 3x +15% cap recharge rigs that I picked up last night - they make a huge difference to tankability.
Tracking is not an issue with the Rokh, I can generally hit anything cruiser sised and up anywhere between 10-15km away and 90-100km away. Frigates are taken care of by the drones pretty quickly. There's only an issue with particularly fast or blaster cruisers and again drones will often make light work of them.
This thing has 75% resists across the board bar for EM which is just under 70% (if memory serves - I am at work). It is also an incredibly tight fit on both PG and CPU, so you're going to need level 5 in all the relevant fitting skills (engineering, electronics etc etc).
With a decent fleet/wing/squad commander you've got about 11500 shields too.
I did try this setup with 350s, lost a lot of range and damage, didn't change my accuracy significantly - went back to 425s.
There you go, my 2isk.

Sorry if I was not clear, currantly I use a passive tank setup on my Drake, I will be replicating this setup onto my Rokh. Reason why ive decided on art is because it is a passive weapon, same as missiles.
I was just wondering if a completly passive setup would work on a Rokh because passive is much better than active :)

I was thinking the same switching drake to rokh but you cant really use spr's on it as its shield recharge time base is at 2500 seconds and my drakes is 480 seconds
I dont know if that matters (such as my drake with 14k shields it still says 480 second recharge time)

This is my mission/pve rokh. This works crazy well for both ratting and mission running.
HI: 4 x 425mm Rails (best named) w/ Antimatter 4 x Siege Torpedo Launchers (best named) w/ Rat Specific
MED: 1 x Large Shield Booster II 1 x Shield Booster Amp 3 x Rat Specific Hardners 1 x Cap Recharger II
LOW: 2 x Magnetic Stabalizer II 2 x Balistic Control II 1 x Cap Power Relay
Drone: 5 x Med Rat Specific
This build works amazingly well against any rat your will run into in both lvl 4 and 0.0 for mission running and ratting.

8x Neutron blasters T2 antimatter and iron charges
1x Gisti B-Type xl sb 3x rat specific hardeners 1x shield boost amp 1x Gisti x-type ab
3x Mag stabs T2 2x PDS
worked well and had no problem tanking and closing to engage
A setup like this can be sustained with 3 CPRs and 2 MFSs(minus the afterburner, which can't be perma run with the booster and guns going). It can also tank over 8000dps on explosive, and over 2000 on its worst resist (EM) with 3 invulns and an explosive hardener. It's also at optimal+falloff at 25km with thorium. I'm quite interested in trying something along these lines. Anyone else using a blaster rokh for missions?

My Rokh:
High: 8x 425mm Prototypes w/Antimatter rounds. Sometimes seven with a salvager. I've also had a LOT of success with 5x 425mm Prototypes w/ Antimatter and 2x 150mm Railgun IIs w/ Spike. Good for missions with a lot of webbers swarming.
Medium: 100MN AB II, 2x Multispectral Hardeners (don't have the skill yet for Invulnerability IIs), 2x Cap Recharger IIs. 1x Optical Tracking Computer (No skills for the Tech II here either, yet. 2 more days...)
Low: 3x PDU IIs, 2x Range/Tracking enhancer IIs
Rigs: 3x Shield Regen I's
Speed (with Nav V, AB IV, and HSM IV): 137m/s normally, 379m/s boosted.
425mm Optimum range: 50km, Falloff range: 89km. Farthest shot ever landed: 110km.
150mm II's fall off around 50km.
The opening of any battle is me turning away from the enemy and kicking the burner in. If I'm right on top of what wants me dead, its usually a drag race with my drones (currently 5x Hammerhead Is) picking off anything too small for the guns to track.
I only run L3s at the moment. I'm not feeling particularly ambitious, given that I lack the skills for a lot of the tech II modules I really should have. Your signature exceeds the maximum allowed dimensions of 400x120 pixels and filesize of 24000 bytes -Timmeh ([email protected]) |

You're gallente, Use a mega or hyperion. Much more damage and bigger drone bays.

Hey..
Im training for a Rokh right now, and im alittle confused about all those setups :)..
Im using my alt to medic, with 4 x large shield transfers that can run forever @ 43% cap.
Could someone post a good setup for lvl4 missions where a tank is not needed? I¦d like 8 x 425mm, but looking at power needs, they would require 20k powergrid, and the Rokh only have around 15k. How do you solve this problem? Advanced weapon upgrades?

Originally by: Alha Qmar Dont bother with dual 250 mm rails, there tracking is better then 350mm yes but their damage output is lower then the 250mm railgun.
I have read this so many times, but it is just NOT TRUE.
dual 250: 1.5 / 5.85 = 0.256 250: 2.75 / 6.38 = 0.431
Large weapon ammo does double damage of medium, so that 0.256 gets doubled to 0.512.
0.512 / 0.431 = 1.19
So dual 250 does nearly 20% more damage than normal 250. The damage difference between dual 250mm and 425mm is lower...

I was using a Caracal for my first lvl 3's. It was a bit hairy and took lots of warping so I stepped up to a Drake. A Rokh for lvl 3's?? Thats a waste of a Rokh IMO.

Hi,
I'm chuffed with the Damage I'm getting with the Rokh at the momemnt, I've got fairly good gunnery skills and fairly good cap skills.
Current setup:
HIGHS 8 x 425 T2 (AM and Thorium)
MIDS 2 x Rat specific hardners, 1 x T2 invuln 1 x SBA, 1 x DG XL SB (only faction mod I own) 1 x T2 Tracking Comp LOWS 3 x PD T2, 2 x Mag Stabs T2
3 x CCC
5 x Vespa II for frigs
I'm getting out to 62km with AM and just under 100km Optimals which is amazing (I've got BS lvl 5) but my cap runs down alarmingly quickly when running with AM, is there any mileage in swapping out the Targetting comp for cap charger?
Does anyone have any tips on getting the most out of the Rokhs cap hungry nature?
Thanks for any info.

Edited by: Kirith Kodachi on 12/06/2007 14:34:45 I used to run with 8 x 425mm Prototype Gauss, but the cap issues were a pain. Here is my current setup:
Highs: 8 x 350mm Prototype Gauss Mids: Named: AB, Invulnerability Field, Tracking Computer 2 x Large Shield Extender IIs Rat Specific Resist Amp or hardener Lows: 3 x Mag Stabs IIs 3 PDS IIs Rigs: Anti EM Screen Reinforcer CCC Semiconductor Memory Chip
With this setup, running the Invul Field and Tracking Computer constantly with all 8 guns firing Antimatter never runs out of cap for me. Tanks decently well (can swap afterburner for more tank if need be), does decent damage, and optimal for Antimatter is 41 klicks, 81 for Lead.
And as you can see from my lack of a lot of T2 mods, my skills suck. :P But I can run level fours mostly easily.
EDIT: Oh and I use 5 Vespas II for drones. Helps a lot against the big NPC battleships near the end of missions.
