Edited by: deshan on 30/11/2006 19:05:13 I know its a very early post but i have been fiddeling around with a setup that might work for lvl 4 missionrunning
High : 8x t2 350 rails (im using 350 cus they have better tracking then the 450 and there is no tracking bonus in the rokh) Med : 1x XL shield boost, 1x shield amp, 3x active hardners, 1x cap recharger(all t2) Low : 6x pdu t2
edit: I hav'nt checked if there is a blaster setup that might work but i would be cool to get some feedback on that matter.

- you won't need that strong a tank for 90% of the missions, so you can drop one PDU, maybe two, for a Mag stab. Your guns are going to need it.
- 3 invul fields II will give much better results than 3 active hardeners.
- No web -> the cruisers will give you a hard time.
- You're limited to two damage types.
Your setup isn't bad, but overall you're better with a Raven. ------------------------------------------ Every ship has a base 60-70% resist against the primary damage type of the race that is the least able to vary it's damage types. |

Well thats cus you connect caldari with only missiles and not railguns. Railguns are allso a part of caldari seen in the merlin, moa, and ferox.
And now back to the issue of rok setups

If you think that you could have tracking issues, better replace the cap recharger with a T2 tracking computer ...

350s are still better even if tracking is not an issue since the DPS is very similar to 425mm rails but the fitting requirments are far less. To fit a rack of 425s you are going to need some fitting modules in the low slots.
My alt has been playing with a Rokh while my main runs the mission in a torp Raven. I stick the raven on the BSs and BCs while the Rokh opens up on smaller targets that get within 20km using it's 8 modal neutrons. I don't put any tank on it yet. Just 8 blasters, 2 webs, 3 tracking comps, a sensor booster (to lock frigs fast), 3 mag stabs, two PDS.

I tried this out on the Assault mission.
8x Neutron blasters T2 antimatter and iron charges
1x Gisti B-Type xl sb 3x rat specific hardeners 1x shield boost amp 1x Gisti x-type ab
3x Mag stabs T2 2x PDS
worked well and had no problem tanking and closing to engage -----------------------------------------------

Yes because all the vets will tell you that the Caldari weren't orginally a railgun race.
I'd suggest to the OP, consider dropping the XL SB to a large T2 (just run it more), and go with some much needed mag stabs.

I would use 425mm Rails anyway. For everything you can't hit with your guns, you have your drones. You may need to fit an implant to use 8x 425mm rails, but the 3% cpu reduction for turrets is at ~130k.

High: 8x 425mm Coil Guns
Med: 3x Hardeners T2 1x Gist X-Type Large SB (450M, my biggest investion) 1x Shield Boost Amplifier II 1x Tracking Computer II
Low: 2x Magnetic Field Stabs II 1x Tracking Enhancer II 2x PDS II
Drone Bay: 5 Med drones...
requires Adv. Weapon upg. lvl4
But i have a little problem with the tracking speed... must skill a lot in gunnery.. only skilled for missiles . possible i will change the 425 with 350 rails..

i'm doing mission lvl4 in this without a problem:
4x T2 cruise launcher, 4x T2 350mm rail med: dread large shieldbooster, dread shieldboost amp, photon hardner,2x inv field II, large shield extender or heavy cap booster.
low: 2x BCU II, 2x Mag field stab, the rest you fill with pdu's or whatever you want:)
it does good damage, you can kill big and small npc very fast and it tank much better then a raven. ______________________________________________________

I can't believe everyone is throwing 3 active hardeners on the Rokh. Now, if those are for specific damage types depending on the mission then fine... but if it's always an EM/Therm/Kin that's a waste.
The Rokh has an amazingly strong tank with Gistii boosters like many people are posting about. It can break a 1000 dps tank averaged out across all 4 damage types... that's just amazing. However, using an Gistii A-Type Small SB on a BS is simply silly. I understand people think it's awsome... but it's not. You're losing a slot that could be doing quite a bit more overall for a LOT less ISK. I know, people all think it's an awsome mod. It is! For smaller ships... not for BS's. I've done the number crunching in many ways, the A-Type doesnt work well on a Rokh. It hurts tanking in every setup I could think to use it in.
When I get back later I'll list the best tank for a Rokh assuming you're using a T2 booster or a Gistii Large/XL booster.

Well, after various experiments using 225 duals, 325 and 425mm rails, as well as blasters, I can confirm that the Raven remains the lvl 4 mission whoring god.
The Rokh tanks superbly, but the DPS is awful and missions took about 1.5 to 2 times as long as using the Raven. I guess it's going to be a fleet support sniper - or you can use it as the primary tank if you do missions in groups. -*-*-*-*-

8 x 350mm Railgun IIs (Caldari BS4 gives 37.8km optimal with Antimatter L, include Falloff of 20ish km and you can hit out to 65km with Antimatter)
1 x X-Large Shield Booster (Best Named or TII) 1 x Shield Boost Amplifier (II if possible) 3 x Active Hardeners (NPC Specific) 1 x Cap Recharger (Best Named or TII)
2 x Power Diagnostic Systems (Best Named or TII) 3 x Magnetic Field Stabiliser II
Drones: 5 NPC Specific Medium TII Drones.
Rigs: Cap Recharge/Capacity rigs, Hybrid Tracking Rigs.
Pulls about 500 DPS, with a stronger tank than the Raven (although you will need to allow for hybrid weapons cap usage). Stick in some Damage and RoF implants to max out your DPS and you're laughing all the way to the bank.

my problem the entire time i was trying to do mission in the thing wasnt tanking the damage, but dishing out enough damage. I mean I have every gunnery skill including large railgun spec level 5 and the damage was just autrocious. If your not using full tech2 425's or launchers i dont see you being able to do it with any decent amount of time. I really think the key might be to take the moa idea and fit 6 guns with 2 launchers, but I havent tried it.

8x350mm T2 ABII / Tracking Comp II / 3 Hardeners / LSEII (or XLSBII) 2xMagstabII / Tracking Enhancer II / 2 Cap Power Relay 10xlight drones or 5xmedium
can shoot with antimatter without a break thanks to CPR, never need to shield boost (therefore i prefer the LSEII to the SB).
dps is better than with a raven.

I must admit i flew a rokh for a few weeks before i realised its much easier and cheaper to buy and fit a raven with t2 sieges. But either way he's my set-up.
8x 425mm Compressed Coil Guns
XL sb t2 Sheild Amp 2x mission specific t2 hardeners t2 invulnerability tracking computer 2
4x PDU 2s 2x Mag stab 2
It could do most missions OK, especially guristas missions as most cruisers orbit at 20km+ so it coould hit them nicely with the tracking comp. Battleships died relatively fast, insta poppin frigs at 70km using antimatter was fun. I had 2 issues with the rokh. Most obviously was the issue with tracking under 20km, having to rely heavily on drones. The other was cap. The guns kept the cap down at around 50-60% constantly which in turned affected how long i could tank for. If i had the money i would have bought prototypes which would have severely reduced the effect of the cap use of the guns. One thing i didnt try though was a different ammo type. I didnt do this because the range modifier would have pushed my range into the hundreds (plus i quite liked the damage of antimatter ) -----------------------

Hi I was doing a few level 4's last night with the Rokh and found it amazing! I've got Cal BS Lvl 5 so it makes a huge difference on the tank compared to a Raven.
Any way I was using the following
8 x 425mm Compressed 2 x sba 1 x XL SB T2 2 x hardners 1 x invul T2 3 PDU T2 2 x mag stab T2
you may be wondering about the missing slot? truth is i completely forgot about it so i'll try a different setup tonight. I was able to use AM at 70km out (opt 50K) and was amazed at the results. Great ship I'd be curious about how would be with a passive tank as the rails do chew cap with AM.
Great ship though

works very well. 2 - 3 race specific hardeners, 1 - 2 LSEII then you also can fit 2 cap power relay, since you dont have to worry about the shield booster penalty anymore. never again worry about am draining cap :) works very well, i never go below 25% shield.
just get some distance and start shooting from 40 (am) - 110km (lead), snipe off all frigs, then battlecruisers. they go down in 2-3 volleys. last BSs. primarily tank for missile damage, since their guns won't hit from those distances very well.

Has anyone come up with a setup they feel surpasses their raven setups for lvl4's? I havn't tried it so I'm curious.
My main worry based on my knowledge of rails is the DPS is going to be too low. You'll do fine vs small ships with drones but I'd suspect the killing speed vs other non BS targets would be lacking.

I will tell you a secret.
The ONLY way to surpass mission running time vs a raven is via Faction Long Range Smartbombs on a Turret Boat. I have done some lvl4's in a apoc back in RMR in exactly the length of time it takes to warp out. If you fit a afterburner so the rats cannot outrun your blasts, some caprigs and at *least* 2 faction smarts (long range ones) you can instablast most rats and use your remaining 6 highs on turrets or whatever to take out BS's.
It also means you never have to worry about being scrambled again.
Back in RMR I used to use this and solo all the lvl4's, Amarr Cosmos + 5/10 plex's back then with those lovely 7.5k smartbombs. Warp in. Aggro all and charge smartboming whole blobs to death. The Smartbombs blow away the missile spam to an extent as well.
I even did it in pvp once, with hilarious results! --- Slot 10 Akemons Modified 'Noble'Zet 5000 implant +8% Armour FREE |

this pretty much mirriors my mission running setup just get rid of the Shield amp replace the Xlarge booster with the tech 2 version. And replace 2 of those turrets with Cruise launchers.
I know you dont have missile skills but belive me they really make a difference
\\oh one other thing try fitting a tech 2 damege controll in your low slots this make a HUGE difference. -----------------------------------------------
