Cannot log in without going to character creation - help pls

I have just re-activated my old account with the "Hours for PLEX" option on forums, i have 4hours to log in a put a PLEX onto my account etc. My problem is, i am on character select, if i select my character is goes straight into character creation, which i do not want. How can i get past this to "Just log on" with my characters without changes pls?. Cheers Mier

Cheers Mier If you're logging in on a pre-Incarna character, I don't think think the old character-creation engine is still in place, though I might be wrong. I don't believe it's possible to skip that initial creation step.

FWIW, I didn't get any message, and had to start at the body/face moulding bit - race/bloodline etc was already set.

Now perhaps a petition about getting my old character back, what fun. Karkur - I just clicked onto mier and then "enter game" button , its takes me straight into character creation, no other options given. Also - the bloodline etc are all the same as before, it just makes me do a re-creation, with no options to avoid. This is same for all 3 of my characters on same account. Cheers all Mier

He was created pre incarna, but I went through and resculpted all my chars when incarna was released (as you can see from the pic <<<-), I went through and redid this char whenever we had the option to rescult soon after incarna hit as I wasn't quite happy with him. Just post incarna I could happily log into this char without going through any resculpt / recustomisation. Last night I tried logging in on this char for the first time in months and it drops me to the resculpt tool. Going "back" to the login and trying again did nothing to change this I keep being dropped to resculpt (can alter nose and ears and cheek bones etc.). There is no popup, or optional "do you want to resculpt?" dialog. Click on the char and it loads the resculpt tool. In the resculpt tool, it appears to be a "default" model for a male vhekior, so it's remembering race, bloodline and gender. Petition was filed last night

In other words, your Avatar was blank before Incarna. From Incarna onwards, you are forced to have an Avatar for your ingame Character, no longer just a blank profile picture. Just saying, something I know I read some time ago. o/ As we're "just saying"... you might want to reread the posts from the people saying there is a problem... specifically the bits about already having gone through the sculpting when incarna was released...

I elected to resculpt when which ever expansion hit with more options and stuff and we were given the option to have another go. But yeah, basically the right assumption.

OK, Karkur - i have 1 last character i have not changed as yet - jaxx speed - perhaps this will help for checks etc. My issue is very much the same as Neska T'Kla explains, i also have done the remake on incursion(?) release, or when 1st released. I had also re-made all my characters again soon after when we had the chance to, given by CCP as we all made our mistakes at 1st :) .It was soon after this i was unable to play for some time,but i had been logging on with no problems with new characters, last time i logged on was about 7-8 months ago , until now. After going through the re-creation again with 2 of my characters now, its no different a process than i had already done before. So i am still no wiser as to why this happened. As Neska explains it goes into creation with no options at all to avoid. Cheers all Mier P.S. No comments on my new character?- a girl needs compliments you know

To be honest, I'm not sure if there is anything we can do about it* but I'll try to figure out what has happened so we can try to prevent it from happening again. *perhaps the info is stored in a different table, and was not migrated propely, but don't hold your breath and jaxx, it's pretty sad to be hitting on yourself

I got this also, I think it's where you have created a character that 'breaks the rules' eg you have no shirt on and the system now forces you to fix that. Just a guess though really. -CJ

If you didn't log in with a given character from the time we changed the data format for the avatars until Crucible, then you'll hit this problem. In simplified terms, the automatic converter broke in such a way that it didn't give any errors and just continued as if no data had been present. Good news is that your old data still exists and can be restored to new format once we've fixed. Bad news is that it may take a few days to get that active on TQ because of deployment logistics. Sorry about that. Senior Server Programmer
