We ran a script today on all the characters that could be experiencing this problem. For the details of the problems, please refer to CCP GingerDude's earlier post in this thread (https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=493100#post493100).
All in all we converted 256,281 characters from the old format to the new format. Conversion took around one hour on one node on TQ (with max CPU around 30% and issuing about 1.8 million DB calls) with a conversion warning being issued on just one character out this approx. quarter of a million.
If anyone experiences any further problems like the one described in this thread then please post the details here and CCP karkur will be glad to help you out!

Could you restore my old portrait perhaps?
I'm also having problems with the sculptor / generator and I filed a petition.
When i enter the character creator it keeps loading but nothing ever happens...
All i get is the background and can hover my cursor over where the face etc should be and sometimes get blue highlights.
I never actually see the character and it keeps loading forever.
I'm returning to EVE from 2007 so I dont know if its possible  |

As we're "just saying"... you might want to reread the posts from the people saying there is a problem... specifically the bits about already having gone through the sculpting when incarna was released...
We have been forced through the process multiple times. So just because they have an incarna avatar doesn' tmean they don't have to do it again.
In fact, the fact they are being forced to do it again is pretty strong evidence that they have to do it again. |

I don't think they have a face in EVE that could look like mine, but this is close enough. ..actually nowhere near, but eh.. I suppose I could try and sculpt one, but I've been through all the avatars and never saw a resemblance with any sculpting. I'm just a weird looking English-Scandinavian dude with a long jaw.

Welcome back! I'm sorry the character creator didn't work for you, but I'm glad you have a face now 
I was actually not restoring old old portraits, just characters that had been created when the character creator came out, but had not logged in from May/June, and had not been converted properly. We have now converted all the characters, rather than have to do it on a case by case basis.
If you are still having this problem when you try to recustomize, try lowering all your grapics settings in the ESC menu, and if that doesn't work, you can send a bugreport on it, and we can try to figure out what's wrong. (when creating bugreports, it's best to reproduce the issue in the client, and then send the bugreport from the tool within the client, then we can see if there were any exceptions that might have caused the issue).
